60. Fiancée
Zhou Bin was different from Qin Long.
Qin Long was the son of a wealthy family; picking up girls wasn’t something that required much skill for him.
But for Zhou Bin, an old man who had seen more than his fair share of life, it was harder to sway his emotions and manipulate him.
Wen Han wouldn’t make herself seem frivolous, as that would immediately lose her interest.
But she also couldn’t immediately show shyness or innocence, as that would appear too false. After all, working in a bar and being pregnant out of wedlock, Zhou Bin wouldn’t be foolish enough to believe that Wen Han was truly a naive girl.
She had to maintain that distance, then gradually fall under his spell, touched by his actions until she suddenly realized she had been changed without noticing. This would give Zhou Bin a sense of accomplishment.
After leaving the restaurant, Wen Han in the passenger seat soon spotted the outline of the hospital.
Stepping out of the car, she suddenly looked troubled, “Boss, maybe we should just forget about this? I feel like this isn’t quite right.”
“You promised me,” Zhou Bin grinned.
Wen Han shook her head with a sigh, “But I still feel… pretending to be your fiancée to meet your ex-wife, this seems a bit off, and a bit strange.”
Zhou Bin hesitated, “Wen Han, do you know why I’m doing this?”
“…Why?”
“I want to formally bid farewell to the past.”
There’s more to this?
Wen Han lowered her head, then silently followed Zhou Bin.
…
The door to the ward creaked open once again.
Xu Fang lay on the bed, her face haggard, looking older by at least a decade.
As Wen Han entered, she involuntarily glanced around, her brows furrowing slightly.
From her observations, Xu Fang probably didn’t have much time left.
“Let me introduce, this is my fiancée,” Zhou Bin got straight to the point, “I brought her here to see you.”
“… ” Xu Fang coldly glanced at them, saying nothing.
Zhou Bin sighed deeply, looking very gentle, completely different from yesterday, “I’ve prepared the medical fees, go ahead and get the surgery done if needed, take the medicine, don’t always think about saving money.”
Xu Fang mocked the other person, then suddenly looked at Wen Han.
Wen Han stood there observing the two until Zhou Bin called her over, and she sat down.
“We’re getting married soon,” Zhou Bin sweetly looked at her, “From now on, I’ll have my own family.”
He looked expectantly at his ex-wife, but saw no anger, nor the expected explosion of rage.
This indifference, even contempt, made him clench his fists involuntarily.
But with Wen Han present, he couldn’t vent, “Don’t you… want to say anything?”
“Do you want me to congratulate you?” Xu Fang’s weak voice finally spoke, “Zhou Bin, we have no relationship anymore.”
“Why do you always…”
The angry voice abruptly stopped.
Thinking of Wen Han’s presence, Zhou Bin who had just stood up immediately sat back down, “Sorry, I shouldn’t have lost my temper at you.”
Xu Fang smiled without a word.
Seeing her like this, Zhou Bin’s anger kept rising, gritting his teeth.
He brought Wen Han over hoping to provoke a reaction, but seeing her indifferent, he didn’t expect her to remain unmoved.
She doesn’t believe that her ex-wife doesn’t love her anymore!
I can stop loving you, but you will definitely love me! Even though we’ve been divorced for years, you must still be thinking of me, worrying about me!
But all of this was shattered by Xu Fang’s continuous indifference over the last two days.
Zhou Bin’s confidence and arrogance were instantly shaken. He couldn’t help but clench his fists tighter, feeling that explosive impulse almost ready to burst.
“Boss… Zhou Bin?” Wen Han frowned beside him, “You…?”
Zhou Bin snapped back to reality, “Nothing, I… don’t feel well.”
“Then let’s go back,” Xu Fang turned around, “Since you’re getting married, there’s no need for you to come anymore.”
“Do you think I want to come here?!” Zhou Bin finally couldn’t hold back, “It was your son who called me, otherwise I…”
“Mum.” At that moment, a voice interrupted their conversation.
Wen Han immediately turned around, seeing a teenage boy carrying several bags walk in.
“Hmm?”
Wait, there’s another figure behind him?
She raised her eyes indifferently, then suddenly froze.
Su Zeheng?
“Hello.” Su Zeheng smiled slightly, as if he had known Wen Han was there all along.
What is he doing here?!
Wen Han suddenly felt something was wrong, narrowing her eyes.
“Xiao Tong, who is this…” Xu Fang turned around when she heard her son’s voice, startled to see Su Zeheng.
“Mum.” Son Xu Tong put down the bags, “I almost had a car accident on the way, this brother saved me and helped me bring these things.”
“Why are you so careless?” Xu Fang weakly scolded him, then quickly looked at Su Zeheng, “Thank you, sir.”
“It’s nothing, just a small favor.” Su Zeheng smiled slightly, his gaze falling on Wen Han and Zhou Bin, “Well, I’ll leave now.”
“This… Sit down for a while! Xiao Tong, hurry and peel some fruit for this brother…”
“No need!” Su Zeheng smiled brightly, “I still have to wait for someone at the hospital entrance, so I’ll take my leave.”
He turned and left immediately, leaving Wen Han, who had caught the hidden meaning.
Waiting for me at the hospital entrance?
Hmph! Then wait a little longer!
Wen Han continued to sit comfortably in the ward, but soon felt Xu Tong’s gaze.
“Who is she?” He suddenly looked at Zhou Bin.
Zhou Bin frowned, “This is your aunt, and your father’s fiancée.”
“Fiancée?!” Xu Tong sized her up, his eyes filled with hostility.
Although Wen Han was fearless, she suddenly seemed startled.
Zhou Bin immediately became furious, “Zhou Tong! Don’t you understand propriety?!”
“I’m surnamed Xu.” Xu Tong looked up, “Why didn’t you tell me about this?”
“Do I need to report to you every time I date or get married?” Zhou Bin shook his head, “Why are you becoming more and more like your mother?”
“I was raised by my mother alone, not like her, not like you?”
“You—!”
With Wen Han present, Zhou Bin’s face finally fell when confronted by his own son.
Just as he was about to speak, Wen Han finally stood up.
“Zhou Bin… I’ll leave first.”
“Wen Han?” Zhou Bin immediately stood up, “You…”
“I’m not fitting in here, let’s meet tonight.”
“No need, let’s go back together!”
Zhou Bin was about to leave when Xu Tong grabbed him.
He looked up, “I have something else to say.”
“What could you possibly… eh, Wen Han!” Zhou Bin glanced at his son, turning back to find Wen Han already gone.
Seeing her leave, Zhou Bin had no choice but to stop, taking a deep breath.
“Speak, what else do you want?”
“The doctor’s report came out.” Xu Tong released his grip, “My mother’s condition is worse than expected.”
…
At the hospital entrance.
Leaning against the iron gate, Su Zeheng had his hands in his pockets, watching the cars and people pass by.
After an unknown amount of time, he finally heard footsteps approaching and turned his head.
“You finally came?”
“Huh?” Wen Han looked innocent, “What do you mean? I don’t understand!”
“You… never mind.” Su Zeheng knew she was teasing him, scoffing, “So your target is really Zhou Bin.”
Wen Han rubbed her hands and smiled as she walked to his side, “Yeah~ Uncle, are you going to stop me?”
“If you listened to advice, you’d have given up long ago.” Su Zeheng shook his head, “But I won’t let you succeed in winning back his soul.”
“Is that so~” Wen Han narrowed her eyes like crescent moons, “Do you want to bet?”
“Betting?” Su Zeheng straightened up, “What do you mean?”
“If I successfully win back Zhou Bin’s soul.” Wen Han rolled her eyes, “You have to hand wash my underwear for me, how about it?”
