2.1. On Duty“Troublemaker?”

A Long, pulled out of his thoughts, looked confusedly at Su Zeheng in front of him.

The latter ignored him and continued to focus on his work.

“Team… strange.”

Seeing that Su Zeheng was not paying attention to him, A Long finally followed the direction of his gaze and saw Wen Han’s smile.

“Wen Han?” A Long suddenly realized and hurried over. “Good morning! You came in early for work, that’s hard work!”

Wen Han smiled faintly and pointed at her watch. “I almost arrived late.”

“That’s still tough!” A Long nodded. “Don’t tire yourself out. If you can’t handle it alone, I can help you! By the way… the captain wants to see you.”

“Uncle?”

Wen Han no longer looked at A Long. Her curious eyes turned towards the expressionless man in the office, who was completely focused on his work.

“Thanks.”

With a faint smile on her face, she sidestepped A Long and walked straight into the office.

“Uncle, you were looking for me?”

Wen Han closed the door, but no one inside responded.

She rolled her eyes and had to change her words. “Captain, you wanted to see me?”

With a keystroke, Su Zeheng slowly raised his head and cast a cold glance at Wen Han.

“How’s the situation with Wang Yong going?”

“Making progress,” Wen Han said thoughtfully. “I promised him I’d help find a job within a week, so it’s not urgent yet.”

“Is that so?” Su Zeheng scoffed. “The bureau has already received responses from two companies about the resumes sent for Wang Yong. Didn’t you see?”

“Ah?” Wen Han pouted. “Uncle, I just started work; I haven’t even touched the computer yet.”

“Is this my problem?” Su Zeheng pointed at himself. “Or is it my fault?”

“Uncle, you’re being unreasonable right now.”

“Wen Han, don’t forget you are a newcomer! You just joined the Light Magic Society. If you have time to do other things, do you not have time to work properly?”

“…” Su Zeheng silently glanced at her and turned back to the screen. “Go back.”

“Got it.”

Just as Wen Han opened the door, preparing to leave, Su Zeheng coldly lifted his head.

“You were late today. You’ll be on duty tonight.”

“Ah?!” Wen Han frowned and turned around. “Uncle, I just finished my shift!”

“So what?”

“And…” Wen Han rolled her eyes. “Little Yuan needs me to take care of her. If I get home too late, I’m worried…”

“Is that so? Can’t tell,” Su Zeheng chuckled sarcastically, his tone somewhat peculiar. “In any case, you’re on duty tonight. Close the door.”

“…Understood!”

Not even the emotional tactic worked; Wen Han had no choice but to return to her position.

Did this guy take the wrong medicine today?

Last night… did he see me with A Long or Fat Brother?

After hanging up the phone with Wang Yong, Wen Han had just yawned when Fat Brother suddenly stood up.

“There’s an abnormal situation in the East District! Xiao Liu, A Bao, A Long, you three go check it out!”

“Something happened?!”

According to the rules of the Light Magic Society or HQ, newcomers need to act in pairs and cannot operate solo.

This is for their safety and to train their adaptability.

As an old hand in the Star River City branch, Xiao Liu took along the two who just arrived in Star River City, A Long and A Bao, who were not familiar with the city. This was the most classic pairing.

Wen Han was daydreaming when Xiao Liu and the others quickly ran out of the office and headed towards the location.

Fat Brother quickly typed on the keyboard while saying, “Wen Han, help me pull up the surveillance from the East District.”

“Oh.”

Wen Han responded quickly; although still a bit unskilled, she swiftly got to work, making the office quite busy for a moment.

“Is it the Recycling Station that has made a move? Or the Monster Alliance?” Wen Han furrowed her brows.

Fat Brother remained silent for a moment before shaking his head.

“An Lisen?” Wen Han squinted her eyes. “How did this guy show up again? Still in Star River City?”

Fat Brother hesitated for a moment and looked at Wen Han.

Wen Han froze. “Is it because of me?”

“And Old Su… it’s possible,” Fat Brother nodded. “Otherwise, it wouldn’t explain why An Lisen, who has disappeared for so long, suddenly appears right after you and Old Su return.”

“He’s looking for us… is he out for revenge?”

Recalling the past, Wen Han took a deep breath. “It seems trouble came knocking as soon as I got back…”

“During this time, you and Old Su need to be careful. The Monster Alliance has been dormant in Star River City for so long, and now they’re resurfacing, which shouldn’t be taken lightly.”

Bored in the office as others had already left, A Long, who wanted to stay, was rejected by her.

Not sure how long had passed, she glanced at her watch and finally felt relieved, getting up to turn off the screen.

After clicking about all the cases, the computer screen was brightly glaring.

“Uh? Is the button broken?” Wen Han pressed a few more times, frowning. “Is there a remote control?”

If tonight’s incident was discovered, that guy Su Zeheng would definitely go crazy again.

Wen Han wasn’t afraid; she just found it annoying.

She immediately got up and searched for the remote control but found nothing.

“How strange… where could it be?”

There was no remote control in the room; how did Su Zeheng usually turn off the screen?

In a daze, her gaze finally landed on the only drawer at the computer desk.

“Could it be in there?” With a slight smile, Wen Han quickly walked over.
