The game I hadn’t played in a long time was filled with changes.

But now, those old controls had long vanished.

What I had in my hands were long swords instead of keyboard and mouse.

It felt awkward.

Even as I adjusted to the system, I thought about it.

So, I ended up laughing. This new gaming style was quite enjoyable.

It had been ages since I had a good laugh. Gaming had once held a significant place in my life.

It couldn’t be anything but fun. But my body was screaming with fatigue.

I murmured in a low voice.

I had returned home tired after finishing work. I was so drained that I could no longer continue the game.

If it were a keyboard-and-mouse game, I could keep playing for hours.

But this advanced game was different.

It consumed a lot of health, making it feel like I was moving in reality.

People around the world were raving that it was good for dieting, but I found that fact unfair.

What could I do?

Times had changed. Just as my youth slipped away, the days of wielding keyboard and mouse as my weapons had also passed.

I considered myself somewhat talented in gaming. But today’s games crushed that thought into dust.

This was a game on another level of sensation. It demanded more talent, leaving those with lesser skills quickly forgotten.

I recalled memories from the past.

The version of myself who played among the top ten in the arena rankings was not here now.

Returning to the game after a long time, in the first placement match of this season’s arena, I was utterly crushed.

The knight’s strikes that bore down on me left many wounds on my body.

Even knowing it wasn’t real, I couldn’t muster a proper counter.

My body couldn’t keep up with my mind, and it was frustrating.

Frustrating and disappointing. I ended the game, putting those feelings aside.

After my mind settled down, another world that had filled my eyes disappeared.

And I found myself in a dark room. The chill in the now-cold air made me shiver.
