To proceed with the quest, the second place I found was the cemetery.
At the entrance of the cemetery, there was a warning sign telling people not to approach due to a plague spreading.
Inside the cemetery, thick fog hung in the air, and large spiders were scuttling around, making a creepy sound.
They were truly horrifying creatures.
This time, there were three quests to undertake.
First, I needed to gather spider webs from the spiders roaming the graves.
Then, I had to deal with the elite monster located at the center of the graveyard.
Finally, I would finish by eliminating the corpses that would start moving underground in the cemetery.
With my demon sword drawn, I headed deeper into the cemetery.
Near the entrance, I could still see a few spiders, but as I ventured further, the sign of any spiders quickly vanished.
It seemed a user had arrived and started hunting before me.
Kiriik-!
At that moment, a huge spider charged at me.
If I kept daydreaming, I’d surely be bitten by those spiders.
I quickly dodged the spider’s attack and swung my sword. As the sword, enveloped in magic, sliced through the spider’s leg, it cleanly severed it.
The blood that oozed from the spider was green, as if it were poison. In truth, the blood of the monsters in this area was almost indistinguishable from poison.
Just because you kill a monster doesn’t mean you should rush in right away. If you approach before the blood on the ground disappears, you’d get poisoned debuffed.
Maybe about five seconds after the giant spider was slain, the rotten blood soaking the ground vanished.
[White Sticky Spider Web]
An NPC from the plague village said that these spider webs would be used to make clothes to survive the winter.
I needed to collect these spider webs.
The number of spider webs the villagers requested was 60, and it didn’t take long to gather them all.
Next, I had to hunt the elite monster located in the center of the graveyard.
As I slowly walked in the direction indicated by the quest, I saw many users waiting around.
Some of them were even my guild members.
“Oh! Guild Leader!”
I greeted my guild members warmly and approached them.
“Are you guys on a quest?”
“Yeah, we are all waiting our turn.”
“Uh-huh…”
I nodded at that and looked around.
Users from the Human Clan and the Demon Clan were standing in line, clearly divided.
Since we weren’t in a special area like Hell, there shouldn’t have been a need to be hostile toward each other, yet this was the reaction.
“Are you guys not forming a party with the Humans?”
“Huh? Why would we party with the Humans?”
I stared in disbelief at my guild member’s response.
I guess I could consider it fortunate that fights hadn’t broken out here.
Given what had happened in Hell, it seemed the animosity between the two factions had run deep.
The atmosphere was tense. Users from both the Human Clan and the Demon Clan were glaring at each other with weapons drawn.
It felt like an all-out brawl could erupt at any moment.
Just then, the elite monster they had been waiting for respawned.
With a dramatic emergence from the ground, the Death Knight, dripping in sinister magic, appeared.
[Death Knight Shun]
The moment the elite monster respawned, users from both factions began to move.
They were making a rush toward the quest monster.
“Wait! Hold on! We got here first!”
“We came here first!”
Human and Demon Clan users brandished their weapons, raising their voices as they closed in on the elite monster.
At that moment, the Death Knight, recognizing the enemies, let out a fierce roar and unsheathed its sword.
– Kuaaargh!!!
“What the—me?”
The target the Death Knight charged at was me.
I quickly stepped back, wanting to keep my distance from the other users.
But it seemed my actions were misinterpreted by the Human users.
“I’m pulling the elite monster!!!”
“You cowardly bastard!!!”
Calling me a coward? I looked at the Human users in disbelief.
Just like how we Demon Clan users harbored resentment towards the Humans, it appeared they had a strong animosity towards us as well.
Given the situation, it surely didn’t look good for me to be pulling the monster back.
But wouldn’t it have been okay to attempt to talk about it?
The Human users charged at the Demon users swinging their weapons like barbaric savages, showing no intent to communicate.
I couldn’t escape their attacks either.
Narrowing my eyes, I drew my sword.
It was a good thing I had equipped my PVP gear, just in case things turned ugly.
“Kill them all!!!”
Just like in Hell, the Human and Demon Clan users began to clash.
A flurry of skill effects erupted around us.
“Die, Blood Demon!”
The opponent rushing at me, swinging their weapon, was the Paladin user.
Dressed in a massive full plate, he lunged at me confidently, believing in his own defense.
I had no choice but to keep backing away, biting my lip.
“Don’t run away, Blood Demon!!!”
I had gotten so used to being called Blood Demon instead of my nickname.
While I was retreating, the Death Knight, in hot pursuit behind the Paladin, started to turn back.
Since it had stepped out of the monster’s aggro range, it was headed back to its original spot.
That was when I decided to make my move.
Stopping my retreat, I swung my sword, blocking the Paladin’s attack.
Clang!
It was the Paladin user initiating the attack.
Seeing the user’s name turn red, I immediately activated [Jump Strike].
As I launched into the air with all my strength, the battlefield came into view from a distance.
The Death Knight, whose aggro had reset and returned to its original position, was wreaking havoc.
Users from both clans were falling one after another, slain by the Death Knight.
Most users were down by now.
That meant there was no one left to claim they got here first and fight for their turn.
As my airborne form descended upon the Death Knight, I swung my sword with a powerful shockwave. Unable to withstand the impact, the Death Knight was knocked back.
I chased after it, swinging my sword and shouting.
“Everyone, disband the party!”
Since I had gathered the members myself, my guild mates wouldn’t be clueless.
I quickly swung my sword and invited the surviving guild members into a party.
“Whoa!”
The Paladin user I had left far behind seemed to have no charge skills, lumbering towards us with heavy steps.
But it was too late. My sword had already whittled the Death Knight’s health down to 50%.
My guild members unleashed their ranged attacks.
Swoosh!
I was so focused on the Paladin user that I hadn’t managed to evade an attack.
A rusty massive sword grazed my shoulder, causing a chunk of my health to drain.
But I wouldn’t back down. As I swung once more at the Death Knight, its health plummeted to 20%.
The conditions for my execution skill were met.
[Execution]
As I rapidly activated the execution skill attached to my sword, my body moved swiftly, plunging the sword into the heart of the Death Knight.
Kwaaaaa!
That was it.
The Death Knight collapsed limply to the ground.
Taking on the late-arriving Paladin was a piece of cake.
Having struck first, there was no PVP penalty to deal with, so I had nothing to lose.
Crack!
Using my life absorption skill, I pierced through the Paladin’s chest, sucking out his life force.
Even as he fell, he continued to call me a Blood Demon.
“This cowardly Blood Demon… The humans… will take revenge…”
“Shut up.”
Smack!
Kicking the one turning gray away, I withdrew my sword.
With everyone except my guild members dead, I chuckled, resting my sword on my shoulder.
“Did everyone loot the quest items?”
“Yes! Thank you!”
Fortunately, it seemed they hadn’t been slow in accepting my party invitation.
I turned back to approach the corpse of the Death Knight.
Next to the remains lay a small hand mirror.
I had completed the second quest. I asked the two surviving guild members.
“Have you guys done the underground cemetery quest? If not, would you like to do it together?”
“Re-really? Is it alright if we join you?”
“Of course.”
The two were a healer and a warlock, respectively.
That made them good support for me in the back, so it should be smooth sailing until this quest wrapped up.
Thus, I headed towards the entrance of the underground cemetery with the two.
As I followed the path laid out on one side of the cemetery, a massive entrance to the underground would come into view—that would lead us to the underground cemetery.
From the underground cemetery onward, we were in serious undead territory.
While descending the stairs lit by softly glowing green torches, the guild members following behind carefully began to speak up.
“Uh, Guild Leader?”
“What?”
“Are you really a middle school student?”
“Yeah, and?”
I nodded at the healer’s question. I hadn’t tried to hide my age, but not many truly believed it.
The healer and the warlock seemed to be friends in reality.
They exchanged looks and nodded at one another.
It seemed they were quite curious about my true identity.
“Is that how you really look in reality?”
“Yeah.”
“Wow…”
Is this really something to be amazed about?
I chuckled softly, planting my sword into the ground.
“Is it fascinating?”
“Y-yeah!”
“So fascinating!”
These must be some very easily impressed people.
“If it’s not too intrusive, may I touch your hand?”
“My hand…?”
“Yes!”
I raised an eyebrow at the healer’s request.
She wanted to touch my hand?
Sohee sometimes liked to play with my hand but was my hand really that interesting?
I inspected my hand and nodded.
“Sure.”
“Wow, wow…”
The two female demons cautiously began to touch my hand.
Maybe about five seconds passed. I cleared my throat and withdrew my hand.
“Let’s go hunt.”
“Ah, ahhh…”
The two looked at me longingly, but I didn’t extend my hand again.
I wasn’t here to chit-chat with my guild members.
I needed to level up quickly and get the items in order.
