Chapter 752. Will Master Marry Me?!
Ling Meng whispered anxiously, fear gnawing at her, dreading a heartless answer:
“Yes, you’re just a disciple, don’t think too much.”
Ling Meng dared not look at Lin Nuo, instead lowering her head.
Tension, anxiety, and confusion engulfed her.
Lin Nuo wore a cold expression, silent, enveloping the moment in a terrifying silence.
Ling Meng grew more anxious, sweating nervously, feeling like she was sitting on needles, every second dragging on painfully.
What is Master thinking? Does he truly see me as just a disciple? Or is he dismissing me because of my question?
Moments later, Lin Nuo walked toward her slowly, his footsteps heavy in the quiet.
Is he coming to reject me?
The thought of what might happen next was unbearable; she couldn’t imagine it had already spiraled into negative territory without hope.
Suddenly, Lin Nuo’s hand rested on her head.
It was a light touch, gentle, yet it didn’t move.
It had been ages since Master had patted her head, and this felt peculiar.
Then, Lin Nuo spoke:
“Ling Meng, a disciple is certainly not just a disciple. As for your feelings, I can only say this: We are all people of the Demon Way, unaccepted by this world. We must fight and survive. Of course, if you wish to follow me forever, I will naturally welcome you.”
“Ah, so that means…”
Ling Meng’s excitement surged; was this a sign of Master accepting her feelings?!
Ah, this is wonderful! Master wants to marry me!
“That means Master wants to marry me, right?! Let’s just escape and get married! I’ll talk to my father and arrange something with Master’s family; after all, in-laws should have discussions first!”
Ling Meng looked up, her face filled with excitement.
“Ah?”
Lin Nuo was stunned, what? Did I say we would escape and get married?
“Calm down. Didn’t you catch the first half of what I said? We are, after all, people of the Demon Way; let’s focus on surviving first, shall we? Didn’t you just survive a near-death experience?”
“But that doesn’t conflict with getting married. Besides, you said you would accept me if I wish to follow you, right? Marriage is the best way out!”
Ling Meng’s eyes sparkled with enthusiasm; talking about marriage energized her.
“I have no intention of marrying at the moment. Also, my mother is an ordinary person; please don’t disturb her with your Refining Demon Sect nonsense.”
“What about Master’s father?”
“He’s irrelevant; killing him is fine with me.”
“Mmm… It seems Master despises your father.”
“Take ‘seems’ off that. Alright, let’s not talk about him. You should understand my earlier statement. I have no intention of getting married.”
“What about later? You don’t plan to remain lonely all your life, do you? You secretly want a family, right?! Right, Master!”
Ling Meng grew more animated. Lin Nuo could only sigh; was she a Demon Woman? Shouldn’t she be out there slaying cultivators and immortals instead of talking about love?
Lin Nuo exerted a bit of force and pressed Ling Meng’s head down.
“Listen carefully, don’t interrupt. The future is the future; I can only say there may be a possibility of choosing you. But I won’t promise anyone anything, and I don’t know if I’ll live to see the day I can fulfill any promises.”
“Oh! So, Master, that makes me your fiancée, right?”
“Not really… What are you thinking? I didn’t just establish a betrothal with you. I meant if I truly wish to marry, and you still wish to follow me, then we can consider it.”
“Oh! I see! Then Master, you must change your views; a man should marry and carry on the family line. Having multiple lovers is great; otherwise, it’s lonely, bleak, and directionless in life.”
“Alright, enough of that.”
Lin Nuo released his hand, gradually returning to the fire.
“You need to know; don’t dwell on it. I see your emotions are unstable, so I’ll be clear with you. Now, let’s eat some meat.”
As Lin Nuo was about to settle back, Ling Meng, overwhelmed with excitement, lunged at him.
“So, I can openly express my feelings now! Master, you should know, your disciple loves you deeply.”
Ling Meng was bursting with excitement, hugging Lin Nuo, nuzzling against him like a lovestruck girl in her blossoming season.
“Ling Meng.”
Lin Nuo’s words were heavy; Ling Meng could now discern emotions by tone, sensing his authority.
She suddenly felt hesitant, too intimidated to act recklessly.
“Everyone has their own way. I’m telling you, you might like that passionate type of displays, like those couples on the street who stick together all day. I don’t enjoy too much passion and noise; in fact, I might be repulsed by it. Just sitting beside me is enough; I won’t distance myself from you.”
“Mmm… Alright then.”
Ling Meng understood and didn’t cause a ruckus, releasing her hold to sit calmly next to Lin Nuo.
To be with her master, she needed to adapt to his ways, or else she might inadvertently push him away, which wouldn’t be good.
But not being close to her master felt unsettling.
“Actually, you can come a little closer. Never mind.”
Originally, there was a slight distance between them, but Lin Nuo moved closer, their hands brushing against each other.
Master took the initiative; that fluttering feeling in her heart was unforgettable, simply wonderful.
Ling Meng linked her arm with Lin Nuo, her head gently resting on his shoulder.
She seemed to realize that love isn’t just about passion; moments of quiet proximity are also very sweet.
Lin Nuo didn’t resist Ling Meng, deftly using a knife to slice meat and season it, his motions smooth and practiced.
“This piece is good; eat up.”
Lin Nuo handed Ling Meng a piece of cooked meat, and she bit into it without hesitation.
This was the first time someone fed me!
It’s so delicious!
……
Deep in the Demon Abyss Valley, a shadow returned from outside.
It was a pitch-dark area, but soon gray flames ignited all around, accompanied by piercing cries and strewn corpses, as if in a ghostly realm, quite eerie.
This shadow had a human silhouette, yet lacked a face; it was purely a silhouette.
Surrounding it were moving Demon Beasts, having evolved from four legs to two, walking upright like humans.
However, most had not evolved sufficiently; their heads still bore the fierce visages of beasts—dragons, bulls, tigers, eagles, and the like, with half-beast people being the majority.
Yet, within the valley, there was one beast that had fully evolved into a human form, possessing human shape and intelligence, but retaining the brutal strength of a divine beast.
“Alright, I understand.”
That shadow was summoned by him, matching his own frame, nimble and swift, but lacking combat power—its purpose solely for intelligence gathering.
“King, the outer barriers are sealed. These two humans have killed too many Demon Beasts; they are provoking us. We should leave and make those disciples pay in blood.”
A dragon-headed, human-bodied beastman spoke to the only humanoid figure—the one called King.
“That woman possesses strange powers, and that man, his skills are impressive. After all, they are strangers to this place; we can lure them into a trap and annihilate them.”
The King said.
