Your Commander-in-Chief – Chapter 238

‘This isn’t easy…’

The second named monster, Hellfire Dragon Bahamut.

The issue was with its vampire clan mutation pattern.

At first, I thought it wasn’t so difficult.

Everyone was able to escape from the vampire mutation quickly after all.

But that was where the trouble began.

The moment Bahamut’s health drops below 50%, it enters phase two.

All its physical abilities are significantly enhanced and its area attacks become much more frequent.

I thought it’d be a change that wasn’t too hard to handle.

But the blood it spewed from the vampire clan was the real problem.

Whenever Bahamut used its area attack, a wave of blood came crashing down, drenching the party members.

Naturally, the party members soaked in blood began to mutate into vampires.

It was a simple pattern that shouldn’t be too hard.

But when the frequency of that mutation increased, things changed.

Healers have limited mana. No matter how hard the main healer and sub healers tried, they couldn’t keep up with the health of the rapidly mutating antibody holders.

The antibody holders were using health recovery potions, but the timing of the attacks came faster than the potion cooldowns.

If mutants emerged while antibody holders were low on health, it meant total annihilation.

And so, our raid party crumpled before the second named monster, Bahamut.

“Let’s take a break~”

The mood in the party was grim.

I thought today we’d break through, but faced with this unexpected situation, everyone must have felt downhearted.

I sat down and closed my eyes.

Hellfire Dragon Bahamut.

The fundamental reason for our blockage wasn’t hard to grasp.

We were short on dealers.

If patterns keep appearing, we just need to push through them before they come up.

I opened my eyes and looked around.

Currently, there were four tanks in our party.

Bahamut only needed one sub tank at most.

In other words, the other two were practically doing nothing.

We had a good number of healers too.

If we could shorten the battle time, the burden on the healers would also decrease.

It was time to voice some tough love to the party members.

Until now, I had managed to get through with my genius talent, but this issue was different.

This was a systematic problem.

“Chloe, Dogrik, come here for a moment.”

Before addressing the party members, I called over the warrior tank leader and the healer leader separately.

They probably felt it too, approaching me with somber expressions.

“Do you all know what I’m going to say?”

“Yeah… We’re short on dealers, right?”

“I know.”

To clear this, we need to change roles.

Though it might not be familiar, there’s no other choice. If I can’t use the rank-up privileges, we have to swap out people for others.

“Everyone, please go back and pick who will change roles.”

Chloe and Dogrik nodded and headed to the areas where their respective classes were gathered.

The break was longer than usual.

At this point, the other party members must have caught on.

That the party members would be changing their roles.

The chosen ones were two tanks and a set of healers.

If they changed their roles, that meant we’d now have five dealers.

The battle time would shorten, thus reducing the frequency of the patterns appearing.

I nodded and spoke to them.

“Everyone understands the situation, right?”

After all, this would only be temporary for this month. If we clear this raid and improve our specs, we would return to our original roles for next month.

First, we needed to raise the overall specs of the dealers.

I checked the nicknames of those chosen and nodded.

Everyone had basic sense, so they would do more than average as dealers.

Except for one.

The person serving as the sub tank in our raid party.

Nickname: [Snow of October].

One of the people who had been with us since the raid’s inception, and his talent as a tank was rather average.

“Snow, you’re coming out…?”

“If it’s needed, I’ll do it. Our party leader requested it.”

Snow of October was a very quiet player. He genuinely loved Deron and actively engaged in all content, leveling many alternate characters.

I had seen his playstyle as a melee warrior in the past.

“Ah…”

My head was in turmoil.

A sigh slipped out.

I could already tell what would happen if he switched to a warrior dealer.

It would be the worst.

All party members would undoubtedly give him knowing looks.

If he couldn’t bring out the character’s full potential, it’d be better for him to remain as a tank.

“Snow, you can go back.”

“Huh…? Is that okay?”

“Yeah, it’s fine. We have someone else to switch with a dealer.”

“Uh…”

Snow of October glanced around at the others before carefully returning to his seat.

With him gone, that left one sub tank and three healers.

We still needed to cut down one more.

I let out a deep sigh.

So this is how it ends up.

Dogrik wasn’t very good at melee combat either, so I couldn’t count on him.

“Everyone, listen up. Everyone here, yes, including me. We’re all changing roles. I will be switching characters. Main tank duties will be taken over by Dogrik. You’ve all realized, right? The party’s firepower is lacking. We need to increase the number of dealers.”

I spoke loudly to the entire party.

Those who had been resting while sitting nodded their heads at my words.

So this moment has finally arrived.

My second character.

It was Princess Yeo’s turn to step in.

Since the launch of the second raid party hadn’t occurred yet, there would be no issues changing my character’s schedule.

“Guild Leader… are you sure? Changing both your alternate character’s role and your main character is a bit…”

“Right… I’d rather change my role instead.”

The party members were in an uproar, worried about my statement.

As expected, they were all good-natured people.

But it wouldn’t do. I absolutely couldn’t let those tanks switch to melee dealers.

If it were ranged dealers, like mages or musket-type archers, it’d be a different story, but to my knowledge, neither of those two had any archer or mage alts.

“Shh. It’s the party leader’s decision.”

I said that while looking around at the party members.

Sure enough, everyone seemed to be touched, their eyes sparkling at my statement.

Isn’t this why I sacrifice so much to maintain the position of party leader?

I wish they’d admire and praise me more, look up to me even more.

I crossed my arms and nodded.

“Since that’s settled, we’ll end today’s raid here. Those who changed roles will need time to get used to it.”

Not everyone can be like me.

They would need time to acclimate to their new roles.

Though, since the base roles were the same, it shouldn’t take too long.

“Then, dismissed!”

Just after the party members disbanded, Helena approached me.

She appeared displeased with the current situation, furrowing her brows.

“What’s wrong?”

“I don’t like it.”

“What’s not to like?”

“The raid has stopped.”

“That can’t be helped.”

“But I wanted to bite Princess Yeo’s arm.”

Why has she been acting like this lately?

Could it be because I haven’t been playing with her?

I avoided Helena’s piercing gaze and turned my head away.

“You said you’re doing magic, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Are your specs good?”

“Decent. I can barely keep up with the raid.”

“If you’re short on Transcendence Stones, let me know. I’ll lend you some.”

I paused momentarily at Helena’s words.

My weapon’s enhancement specs were indeed slightly lacking.

“Then… can I borrow a little?”

“Sure!”

Helena smiled brightly as she nodded at my request, contrasting sharply with her cold demeanor during the raid.

What on earth could be troubling Helena so?

I looked up at her with a worried expression.

“Alright, I’m going to switch characters. Wait for me at the Capital City.”

“Okay!”

I heard Helena’s reply and exited to the character selection screen.

This character existed even before I created my main character, Yeo.

The little wizard girl, Princess Yeo.

Due to the difference in creation dates, Princess Yeo was at the very top of the character selection screen.

I attempted to log in as Princess Yeo.

With a bright light, my body was swept away.

And, of course, I arrived at Solaris Capital City.

I immediately checked the condition of my equipment.

Thanks to feeding the leftover Transcendence Stones from farming on my main character to Princess Yeo, this character’s specs had also reached quite a considerable level.

Enough to scrape through the raid dungeon cut, even.

I headed toward the forge where Helena would be waiting.

“Yeo!”

Helena always smiled brightly whenever she was about to lend something to me.

Is helping others really that delightful?

Indeed, Helena is an angel.

I quickly ran to Helena.

Tat tat tat-

The red robe I was wearing fluttered and danced lightly.

The large pointed hat pressed atop my head drooped to the side as the bell at its tip dangled and swayed.

Why is the staff I’m holding so large?

I felt no physical prowess as I moved my body.

Instead, there was a different kind of strength compared to the overwhelming physical abilities.

It was the basic difference between a mage character and a warrior character.

“It’s been a long time since we met as mages, huh?”

“Yeah. Quite a while.”

I said this while looking up at Helena.

My job tree followed the choice Helena had made.

In other words, Helena was my mentor as a wizard.

“You’ve enhanced that hat, haven’t you?”

“You gave it to me as a gift.”

The pointed hat I was wearing was an equipment item gifted to me by Helena.

Its performance wasn’t exceptional, but it was unique and cute in appearance, making it a highly sought after item among mages.

“Here.”

Helena handed me a bundle of Transcendence Stones.

However, the amount she handed over was more than I expected.

With this much, I could enhance both my weapon and armor without worry.

“That’s… way too much…”

“It’s better if you’re stronger.”

“But there’s no need to be that strong…”

“Do you want to be outdamaged by Hwarang Oppa?”

Hwarang…?

Outdamaged by him?

Me?

I started enhancing my gear using the Transcendence Stones as if entranced.

It took less than five minutes to use all the Transcendence Stones I received from Helena.

“Ugh…”

My alternate character, Princess Yeo, now had specs on par with my main.

I looked up at Helena, feeling a bit glum.
