Chapter 342: Blue vs Red Showdown.
“Uh-oh.”
As Jié Jié watched the familiar figure charging towards him, his gaze shifted past the murky seawater and landed on the unconscious Extinction Dragon.
But after just a glance at the Extinction Dragon, his eyes quickly darted back to Nana pouncing toward him.
Guilt and joy churned in his chest, making him unable to control himself as he spread his wings to embrace her. The tentacles at the ends of his wings quivered with excitement!
However, he didn’t expect that his actions would appear as if he was baring fangs and claws to the Flame Empress Dragon.
“Bang!”
Surging purple flames scorched his body, intense pain invaded his senses, and everything spun as he realized he’d been hurled away.
Am… I in Abyssal Wave Dragon form?
Jié Jié stumbled to his feet and saw the surging purple flames rushing towards him. He quickly crouched into the water to dodge.
After hesitating for a moment, instead of transforming into Flame King Dragon to reveal himself, he slid through the water and submerged into the deep ocean.
Transforming from a familiar monster into an unfamiliar one or vice versa certainly brings different feelings and impacts.
Jié Jié looked around but couldn’t see the bottom of the big ship. Apparently, the second-phase team had successfully evacuated.
After waiting for a bit and poking his head out of the water’s surface, he saw the Flame Empress Dragon gnawing on the “corpse” of the Extinction Dragon.
ミ゚Д゚彡!!
Before Jié Jié could finish thinking whether he should stop her, he saw the Flame Empress Dragon spit out the Extinction Dragon, seemingly in disgust.
That’s right, the fake-dead Extinction Dragon is very hard… still female—
Before he could fully relax, he saw Nana blow Hellfire and start roasting the Extinction Dragon.
ミ゚Д゚彡!!!
Jié Jié felt he still had some feelings for the Extinction Dragon since he hadn’t finished counting all her spines yet.
This won’t do!
“Whoa!!!”
The Abyssal Wave Dragon leaped out of the sea, roaring as it charged towards the Flame Empress Dragon with splashing waves.
A trickle of seawater dripped from his wings, and the water flow washed over the Extinction Dragon, extinguishing the fire roasting her.
Phew, the Extinction Dragon is quite fire-resistant; this brief burning hasn’t penetrated her scales or flesh.
“Hoar!”
The Flame Empress Dragon roared angrily, flapping her wings, sending the remaining surging flames towards him while she ran forward.
A powerful stream gushed from Jié Jié’s mouth, dousing the incoming flames and splashing Nana in the face, halting her pursuit.
Nana’s eyes glared furiously, making him feel quite uneasy. His steps wavered slightly as if he were about to flee involuntarily.
The Flame Empress Dragon stood upright and roared, her flames burning brighter, spreading across the ground, drying the flooded land, and scattering dust with her wing beats.
Seeing Nana successfully enraged, Jié Jié wasted no time retreating at a speed unmatched by the Abyssal Wave Dragon, fleeing far away.
He didn’t just run; he occasionally turned back and spat out a few water projectiles to provoke her further, leading the pursuing Flame Empress Dragon away from the unconscious Extinction Dragon.
Success! Extinction Dragon, you’re alive!
Long after both dangers had moved far away, the Extinction Dragon suddenly opened her eyes, weakly propping herself up, cautiously looking around, surprised that she hadn’t drowned.
Shaking her head, her eyes lit up with angry ferocity as she clenched her teeth, remembering that Abyssal Wave Dragon. Once she grew stronger, she would definitely eat its flesh raw!
High intelligence among ancient dragons is most commonly used for holding grudges!
But at this point, finding food to satisfy her hunger was the top priority.
—Meanwhile—
By now, Jié Jié had successfully evaded the Flame Empress Dragon’s pursuit. After circling around, he transformed into Flame King Dragon and slowly walked in the direction where he had shaken off the Flame Empress Dragon.
The Flame Empress Dragon, who was wandering around sniffing everywhere, raised her head and looked at the leisurely approaching Flame King Dragon.
Seeing his Nana coming again without any hostile flames, Jié Jié also opened his wings without any defense, just like before.
“Bang!”
Once again, he was knocked down, raising his head to see Nana’s face close to his, her head entering his mane.
Jié Jié slightly lowered his head and extended his tongue, twirling around her elongated earlobe. The inverted spines under his tongue gently rubbed against her.
The Flame Empress Dragon also stuck out her tongue, using her spines to comb her husband’s mane.
After much whispering and rubbing, Jié Jié remembered that the second phase team seemed to have been left stranded at sea, unsure of their condition. He slightly turned his body to get up but was firmly restrained by Nana.
The face that had previously caressed their manes now buried itself in the mane, her sharp fangs lightly biting his neck.
Grunt, the second phase team should probably have already voluntarily moved away from the coast by now, right?
Feeling the powerful claw slap on his face, Jié Jié blinked and then seriously looked at the Flame Empress Dragon, feeling her mane falling like long hair.
From this angle, she resembled a cat lying on your chest in the morning, trying to wake you up.
Sss, it hurts a bit.
But it’s fine, it’s his turn soon!
My turn! Draw—check your elementary school textbook!
In the middle of the blue-red showdown, Jié Jié suddenly raised his head. He saw a long streak cut across the darkening sky.
The bright orange light point exploded into fireworks, followed closely by a red firework. Both fireworks lingered in the sky for a long time, like celebratory cannons welcoming him back to the New Continent.
Caught off guard, his turn ended.
—Meanwhile—
At the base of the Ancient Dragon Investigation Team on the Starship, New Continent.
The Commander lifted his head, staring at the signal flare in disbelief, rubbing his eyes.
It wasn’t an illusion, but his brows didn’t ease; instead, they furrowed even more tightly.
Because the second signal flare had already ascended into the sky, exploding with dangerous red light.
The first signal flare meant rescue, so the second signal flare indicated encountering the most urgent situation.
Ancient dragon species.
And the visibility of those two signal flares spanned the map. Only by loading cannons could they be fired into the sky.
The signal flares lingered in the sky for a long time. One investigator after another climbed to the mountaintop, watching the signal flares in the sky with both joy and concern, waiting simultaneously.
They didn’t wait long. A golden-haired man, resembling a lion, returned covered in sweat-drenched grass.
“It seems our newcomers might have also undergone the welcoming ceremony of the New Continent. You should have responded to them immediately!”
The Team Leader swallowed the heart-accelerating mushroom in his mouth, his words filled with excitement and enthusiasm.
“If you had delayed another two minutes, I would have taken matters into my own hands.”
The Commander shrugged and activated the pre-prepared cannon.
Emerald green fireworks exploded in the sky, echoing with the fading orange and red.

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
