Chapter 337

Chapter 337: An Encounter with a Comet.

Jie Jie transformed into a Sky Dog Beast, grabbing the white thing with one claw.

White, with a tail, wings, and legs, a long neck topped by a mouth with fiery red lips—it was undoubtedly an electric dragon hatchling!

This wasn’t the type of electric dragon that emitted blue lightning; it was the kind that emitted white lightning. For now, let’s call this creature the White Electric Dragon based on its color.

In the future, it might be renamed to something bizarre like Strange Dragon.

The Strange Dragon looked really strange. The one in front of him was trying hard to stretch its neck, attempting to bite his fingertips with its fiery red-lipped head.

With a casual toss, Jie Jie threw the Strange Dragon back into the Steel Dragon’s remains while roasting some white rabbit beast meat and enjoying the aurora in the sky.

Delicious food paired with beautiful scenery—life was good.

When he finished eating at dawn, he casually swept the leftovers into the Steel Dragon’s remains, only to see the Strange Dragon hatchling pounce on them and start munching.

Jie Jie transformed into a Burst Scale Dragon and slid down from the mountain peak, looking down at the landscape below.

Two groups of Snow Lions were fiercely competing for territory, throwing punches and kicks in a chaotic battle. Their underlings were also tangled up in fierce fights.

He watched from afar as the competition between the Snow Lion Kings ended, then dived from the air to feast on the defeated Snow Lion King.

If memory served, there should also be Golden Lions in these snowy mountains.

Although he didn’t encounter any Golden Lions, he found a flower field amidst the endless snow.

Compared to the perpetually winter-covered snowy mountain range, this small patch of flowers at the foot of the mountain seemed like it was always in spring. Jie Jie moved more cautiously here, careful not to disturb any ancient monsters.

There were no old monsters here, nor any signs of monster activity. Lifting his head, he saw nothing but vast open skies.

After landing and transforming back into a Sky Dog Beast, Jie Jie stroked some flowers, using them as a pillow to lie down and gaze at the daytime aurora.

“Wow! There’s even a meteor!”

A streak of red light flashed across the sky, splitting through the clouds and leaving behind a long trail.

Jie Jie suddenly sat up, his tail stamping against the ground to propel him into the air where he flapped his wings and flew higher into the sky.

“Wait for me! Wait for me!”

If meteors from outer space could be considered natural disasters, then there must also exist an ancient dragon species representing this calamity.

Of course, the appearance of such an ancient dragon was just as rare as a real meteor disaster.

And when a comet flashing with dazzling brilliance crossed the sky, it signified his arrival.

It couldn’t be mistaken—it had to be the Celestial Comet Dragon! A rare ancient dragon that lived in the uppermost heights of the atmosphere, each sighting resembling a meteor streaking across the sky.

Jie Jie transformed into the Azure Electric Main Dragon mid-air, manipulating air currents to boost his wing power, bursting forth at what felt like the fastest speed of his life towards the comet streaking high above.

The higher he flew, the farther away the comet seemed to get, increasingly distant.

But he kept chasing.

If only he could unlock the form and speed of the Celestial Comet Dragon, traveling around the world would be as easy as pie!

The Celestial Comet Dragon couldn’t possibly fly forever like a real comet or remain suspended in the sky indefinitely. He must have a place to land—a super-high peak where comets could reside!

The Forgotten Ridge!

But as he ascended into the upper atmosphere, he lost the wide-open view of the ground due to thick cloud layers, making it impossible to determine which direction the comet was flying. All he could do was chase after the cloud trails left by the Celestial Comet Dragon from who-knows-when.

Even though he expanded his energy perception, he couldn’t sense any residual Dragon Attribute Energy in the trail.

The flight pattern of the Celestial Comet Dragon was unlike other flying dragons. It propelled itself with a jet-like mechanism, ejecting dragon energy from the ends of its gun-like wings to generate thrust, inevitably leaving traces in the air.

Not seeing even those traces meant he couldn’t catch up to the Celestial Comet Dragon’s exhaust, leaving him to hope that the Celestial Comet Dragon was close to its nest or would attack him upon noticing him.

Slim chances… perhaps, he could make a wish.

Recalling the scene of seeing a meteor cross the aurora in the snowy secret realm, he sincerely wished.

But wishing for the meteor to stop so he could capture it made him laugh at himself.

Continuing his flight forward, he finally saw the red comet again once the clouds in the sky dispersed.

It wasn’t because the wish came true. Jie Jie watched helplessly as it plunged below the horizon, disappearing into the night sky without leaving a trace.

“Really just like a comet, Celestial Comet Dragon.”

Entering his line of sight, giving him a brief glimpse before swiftly flying away, impossible to catch up to…

Constantly accelerating during the pursuit, even he felt unusually exhausted, as if all the energy he had replenished in the snowy mountains had been drained.

Feeling somewhat disheartened, he descended from the upper atmosphere. In the distance, oddly shaped mountains came into view.

The mountains looked as if they had been carved by a thousand knives, revealing a spiral structure. Some of the peaks were so thin they were barely visible, appearing to float on both ends.

“The Thousand Sword Mountain.”

He seemed to have chased the Celestial Comet Dragon all the way from the snowy mountains to a place where he could see the Thousand Sword Mountains.

After resting for a bit, Jie Jie transformed back into a Sky Dog Beast, rummaging through the silk pouch hanging from his chest to pull out a map. He spread it out and gestured to estimate the position of the Thousand Sword Mountains.

The map was something he had “borrowed” from a hunter.

The Thousand Sword Mountains were located between the Northern Mountains of Dongduoluma and the snowy mountains, separated by quite a distance, but all three were in the northern part of the continent.

He had traveled to the snowy mountains via the Tree Sea in the central part of the continent and hadn’t seen the Thousand Sword Mountains on the way.

This time, having encountered the Celestial Comet Dragon, he decided to look for the location of the Forgotten Ridge on the map. If he could find the Celestial Comet Dragon’s lair, he might be able to stake out there. But the map showed no record of the Forgotten Ridge.

Clearly, the Dragon Historians’ Academy hadn’t yet investigated the Forgotten Ridge.

Estimating the distance between two fingers on the map and pointing it at the moon, it didn’t even match the width of the moon.

Yes, the moon.

He had flown from morning till midnight, no wonder he was so tired.

“I guess my own flying isn’t slow either.”

Looking at the fingertip distance traced from the map, Jie Jie suddenly laughed, feeling his heavy arms from the burst-flight become lighter.

He realized he probably didn’t need to pursue the speed of the Celestial Comet Dragon.

But if asked whether Jie Jie would chase a meteor again if he ever saw one, he would definitely do it again.

Chasing after the Wise One? Not embarrassing at all!

Putting away the map, he glanced at the distant Thousand Sword Mountains, not particularly interested.

There was still a considerable distance between him and the Thousand Sword Mountains, enough to take him a whole day to fly back to the snowy mountains.

Finding some small animals nearby for a simple dinner, Jie Jie transformed into a Spiny Dragon and drifted off to sleep.
