Chapter 298: “The Strongest Creature on the Surface”

“Boom! Boom!”

A towering monster, mountain-high, traversed through the mountain ranges. Each step it took was accompanied by an earthquake, sending up countless dust clouds.

Old Mountain Dragon slightly crouched its body, getting close to the crevices of the mountains. With a single movement of its claws, it split open the mountain, revealing the mineral veins inside, and began feeding voraciously.

Its massive tail swung with the rotation of its body, sweeping across and leveling everything protruding from the ground.

Minerals were effortlessly crushed into powder within its colossal mouth. After finishing its meal, Old Mountain Dragon didn’t rise but instead switched to walking on all fours, slowly moving forward.

“This is really slow… so slow.”

Jié Jié successfully found the Old Mountain Dragon and sighed. He had wandered among the mountains for over a week, not without being spotted multiple times by hunters, finally managing to catch up with the Old Mountain Dragon.

Compared to its bloated body, the limbs of the Old Mountain Dragon could be considered short, unable to take strides as large as those of other monsters.

It also lacked the assistance of the ocean or sand seas like the Great Sea Dragon and Peak Mountain Dragon; it trampled on solid land.

Its pace was shuffling, akin to that of an elderly person.

It didn’t even alternate its steps; each limb would lift and fall one at a time, only raising another after landing.

Every motion was unbearably slow, yet unstoppable.

A fireball erupted from Jie Jie’s mouth, exploding on the thick body of the Old Mountain Dragon.

The Old Mountain Dragon showed no reaction, continuing to step forward. There wasn’t even a sign of damage on its dark red keratin layer.

Jie Jie descended in height, landing on the back of the Old Mountain Dragon, as if boarding a terrestrial cruiser.

He scratched his claws against the dark red keratin, leaving only faint white marks after tearing through dirt and moss. This dark red keratin continued to stack layer upon layer on the Old Mountain Dragon’s back, protruding backward with unimaginable thickness.

Still, the Old Mountain Dragon showed no reaction, completely unconcerned about what was on its back, maintaining its steady pace.

Riding this terrestrial cruiser, Jie Jie gazed at the long road ahead, feeling the surrounding environment crawling backward like a snail.

How many years has the Old Mountain Dragon walked? Decades? Centuries? Or perhaps a millennium?

This was the opponent he must battle to unlock a new form, but it didn’t stop Jie Jie from resonating and sensing the emotions of the Old Mountain Dragon.

Stubbornness, an unyielding stubbornness towards its migratory route.

Fear, fear of the flames that destroyed cities.

Jie Jie turned his head, looking at the direction from which the Old Mountain Dragon came, the starting point of her migration.

Could the ruins of Xuerede City, destroyed a thousand years ago by the Black Dragon, be in that direction?

This Old Mountain Dragon witnessed the flames that incinerated cities, leaving her migratory path behind, possibly walking for a millennium, maybe wandering for a millennium, or perhaps patrolling this area for a millennium.

On such a long journey, she might have been sighted by the Queen Mantis, becoming the prototype for the imitation in the Ruin City.

In the end, she might die on this road, her skull used as armor by the Fort Crab when it comes ashore, or admired as a wonder by humans.

Patting the old guy’s body, Jie Jie jumped, flying to the front of the Old Mountain Dragon, issuing a roar of challenge.

The Old Mountain Dragon didn’t stop its steps but opened its huge mouth and responded with a heavy growl to the Fire Dragon before it.

The Old Mountain Dragon’s diet was merely minerals. As the “strongest creature,” there was no monster capable of including the Old Mountain Dragon in its food list. She should have ignored creatures smaller than herself.

But this Fire Dragon was quite large and brave, successfully capturing her attention.

The body of the Fire Dragon swelled, its scorched and green luster blending together. Its wing-claws and hind legs touched the ground, and the dragon god of war roared again at the Old Mountain Dragon.

The body of the Old Mountain Dragon trembled, looking at the monster before it with some suspicion.

Standing on four legs, the Giant Halberd Dragon looked much larger than her.

“Roar!”

Make way.

“Roar!!!”

Won’t let you.

The Old Mountain Dragon slowly lifted its body and swung a claw at Jie Jie.

This claw brought forth the power of its entire body, causing the Old Mountain Dragon to lose balance as it raised its body, a large portion of it stumbling toward the Giant Halberd Dragon.

Lifting its body and pressing down, this move alone was enough for the Old Mountain Dragon to destroy any obstacle it encountered!

Jie Jie’s four-legged stance instantly transformed into a six-legged crawling stance.

But the “Sinewy Wings” stretched out again after being folded under pressure. The front claws exerted force simultaneously, gradually detaching from the ground.

His neck twisted slightly, biting the neck of the Old Mountain Dragon from the side while applying force, trying to lift its upper body.

Another claw of the Old Mountain Dragon slapped down, but it only made Jie Jie sway slightly.

In the slow attack, the front claws grabbed onto the uneven parts of the Old Mountain Dragon’s body. The pair of wing-claws slowly rose, climbing onto the body of the Old Mountain Dragon.

The Old Mountain Dragon’s long neck swung around, and the force that could level towers crashed onto the back of the Giant Halberd Dragon.

This blow seemed to trigger something.

The slowly flowing black heavy oil hadn’t even covered the whole body when it was vaporized by the rising body temperature, secreting mysterious powers from deep within, making the entire burden feel incredibly light.

[Power Unleashed]

Jie Jie bit into the neck of the Old Mountain Dragon, his wing-claws resting on her shoulders glowing red, burning her shoulder keratin layer until it glowed with a bright red hue.

His hind legs struggled to take a small step backward, meaning the Old Mountain Dragon retreated a small step.

He couldn’t topple the Old Mountain Dragon, but her body was shaken, retreating.

The wing-claws lifted, briefly exerting more force before slamming down heavily, piercing through the dark red keratin layer, breaking the spines, which fell to the ground.

Sensing the danger, the Old Mountain Dragon retaliated, its sluggish movements speeding up somewhat. Her hind legs and tail bristled, beginning to push back.

She wanted her body to fall forward again, directly crushing the monster in front of her.

Her long neck simultaneously bit into the abnormal spines on the back of the Giant Halberd Dragon, tearing off a piece, chewing it, and swallowing it.

Jie Jie’s front limbs lifted, gripping tightly into claws, refusing to be outdone, leaving bloody scars on the Old Mountain Dragon’s abdominal shell.

His jaws tightened their grip, slightly relaxing his hind legs, changing from pushing the Old Mountain Dragon to pushing himself.

With a powerful leap backward, he ended the wrestling match with “the strongest creature on the surface,” swallowing the gray-white shell in his mouth.

The two dragons pulled away from each other, temporarily ending the mutual biting and clawing.

After losing support, the Old Mountain Dragon’s forelimbs fell to the ground, and it resumed its heavy steps as if intent on destroying all obstacles on its path.
