Chapter 283

Chapter 283: The Strange Point.

The Giant Halberd Dragon’s two pairs of front limbs moved in unison with its rear legs, much like the Dragon Charge of a Hōng Lóng, achieving incredible speed.

Although Jié Jié flapped his wings even faster, the escape and pursuit momentarily widened the distance for attacks.

When he finally caught up to the Giant Halberd Dragon, it was feasting wildly atop some ruined city defense facilities.

Jié Jié didn’t rush into an attack; instead, he observed the Giant Halberd Dragon’s eating habits and the surrounding environment first.

This section of the city wall showed more damage on the outer side than the inner, indicating that the Tempered Black Dragon hadn’t impacted here directly, but the aftermath of battle still ravaged this area.

Elsewhere, molten lava clung to the ruins of the city, but there were also plenty of military supplies nearby.

Cannonballs, crossbow bolts, gunpowder… all these were being devoured by the Giant Halberd Dragon as it swung its head, swallowing everything—lava, ruins, even sulfur.

The energy source within the Giant Halberd Dragon swelled, and its chest began to glow with fierce red flames.

This glow brought back unpleasant memories for Jié Jié. In the game, after the Black Dragon transitioned stages, its chest would similarly glow. As someone who had wielded a katana against it before, he remembered this vividly.

Something wasn’t right.

No longer allowing the Giant Halberd Dragon to feed, Míng Dēng Lóng dove down and slammed into it, tearing away scales with long claws dipped in heavy oil. A brilliant blue inferno burned brightly against the blood-red sky, as if it belonged at the center of this world of destruction.

Thrown back by the impact, the Giant Halberd Dragon turned its head and roared furiously, spewing not beams but thick, black compressed heavy oil.

The heavy oil surged like a powerful water column. Jié Jié could even see iron tools and gunpowder wrapped inside it.

It was nauseating.

He flew into the sky to evade the first wave, but subsequent streams of heavy oil followed his movements, sticking to his body.

Its force matched that of Abyssal Wave Dragon’s breath weapon, but the sticky residue made him feel incredibly uncomfortable.

Flapping his massive wings to accelerate, Míng Dēng Lóng contracted mid-air. Its seemingly soft white shell hardened into red, while black spines erupted with intense poison light.

“Boom!”

Though smaller than Míng Dēng Lóng, the Spiny Dragon’s body was stockier. Its horn pierced deep into the neck of the Giant Halberd Dragon.

After shaking slightly, it leapt forward, causing the lava and ruins beneath to crumble under the impact. No one needed them anymore.

The Spiny Dragon stomped heavily, pinning the Giant Halberd Dragon’s wing claw into the ground. The sound of joints groaning could be heard as its sharp edge pierced through flesh.

Tearing off chunks of meat before stamping again, it pounced toward the Giant Halberd Dragon’s neck, attempting to crush its head into the earth.

The other wing claw dragged along the body, leaving only the less vital back exposed to Jié Jié. A short but powerful tail swept toward him.

Like skipping rope, Jié Jié flapped his wings and leaped over the tail, then lunged toward the Strike Dragon Gun on the Giant Halberd Dragon’s back.

With a swipe of his claws, he tore it off, shattering the creature’s back armor in the process.

Notably, this Strike Dragon Gun wasn’t merely stuck onto its back with heavy oil—it was embedded at an odd angle, as though the monster itself were part of a firing mechanism.

Sensing the emptiness on its back, the Giant Halberd Dragon seemed to trigger some reflexive response. Its attempt to flee abruptly halted, and its massive body spun around violently, lifting its fiery red wing claw to strike at the Spiny Dragon.

[Power Unleashed]

Jié Jié stumbled backward, a flicker of surprise crossing his face. That surprise met the blazing crimson eyes of the Giant Halberd Dragon.

Those eyes glowed with an unnatural ferocity, exuding boundless madness. Moreover, the heavy oil covering its body began bubbling and vaporizing due to rising temperature.

“Hmmph!”

A fireball shot from the Spiny Dragon’s mouth, exploding on the charging head of the Giant Halberd Dragon to slow its advance.

Simultaneously flapping his wings to retreat, Jié Jié transformed into Míng Dēng Lóng, pulling away to transform and unleash a beam of azure light from his mouth. It clashed with the red ray piercing through the flames, preventing the Giant Halberd Dragon’s breath weapon from being swallowed whole. Pale flames churned around its mouth.

Realizing the enemy’s breath weapon grew stronger, Jié Jié increased his energy output. The azure flame of Míng Dēng Lóng scorched the bloody sky.

The Giant Halberd Dragon retreated once more but, resisting Míng Dēng Lóng’s breath weapon, quickly reactivated its own. Neither toxins nor dragon seals appeared to affect it.

[Vajra Body]

The scorching hot ray of heavy oil swept across. Jié Jié flapped his wings and ascended, initiating his breath weapon from above. Blue and red breaths missed each other repeatedly. His wounds emitted a cyan-blue flame, and the remaining heavy oil on the Giant Halberd Dragon ignited.

Seeing the fully ablaze Giant Halberd Dragon still moving about energetically, Jié Jié felt a bit uneasy.

He had to reinsert the Strike Dragon Gun to restrict its movement.

After landing again, Jié Jié immediately dived toward the Strike Dragon Gun that had fallen off the Giant Halberd Dragon’s back. Transforming into Míng Dēng Lóng, he grabbed it and prepared for a dive-bomb attack.

However, before he could initiate the dive, the Giant Halberd Dragon stopped its ray emission, unfolded its wing claws revealing tattered wings, and started trying to flap them.

And with synchronized effort from both fore and hind limbs, it managed to take flight.

But its flying skills left much to be desired.

“Take this back!”

Diving with superior aerial techniques, he narrowly missed the Giant Halberd Dragon while simultaneously thrusting the held Strike Dragon Gun downward, reinserting it backwards into the wound on its back. The sharp end pierced deeply, inflicting even more grievous injuries.

“Bang!”

The Giant Halberd Dragon crashed stiffly onto the ground, kicking up fragments of ruins and lava, blending perfectly with the ruined cityscape. The battle between these two Ultra-Large Monsters now bore the hues of a tokusatsu show.

After helping the Strike Dragon Gun find a new insertion method, the Giant Halberd Dragon’s movements were predictably restricted further—but just restricted.

Consider this: for a monster, the size of the Strike Dragon Gun is akin to a steel bar piercing a human body. Such excruciating pain would cause even a Spirit Mountain Dragon to relax its muscles and lose mobility.

Yet, the Giant Halberd Dragon below acted as though it had no sense of pain, roaring at him after climbing back up.

Fortunately, its actions were significantly hampered by the Strike Dragon Gun, making it difficult to turn its head or rotate its body. Jié Jié easily dodged its clumsy attempts.

[Dull Feet]

Observing the state of the Giant Halberd Dragon, Jié Jié realized he could finish it off before his energy dropped below threshold.

Míng Dēng Lóng hovered briefly before diving again, planning to repeat his previous technique. This time, however, his target was the exposed handle of the Strike Dragon Gun.

Hammer meets nail; adding extra force, he aimed to pin the Giant Halberd Dragon to the ground!

At that point, regardless of how abnormal this Giant Halberd Dragon might be, it would have no choice but to succumb to his will!

Seemingly sensing its predicament, the Giant Halberd Dragon chose to roll when Jié Jié dove at it, driving the Strike Dragon Gun even deeper into its body.

Upon landing, the Spiny Dragon turned to see the Giant Halberd Dragon’s front limbs futilely reaching backward, its wing claw supporting its weight losing balance, making it stagger.

Such reactions shouldn’t occur in a creature with the physiology of a Giant Halberd Dragon.

The Giant Halberd Dragon’s gaze remained wild, its limbs still trying to pull out the Strike Dragon Gun.

Pull out the weapon.
