Chapter 272

Chapter 272: The Hunter Goes Fishing, I Spear Fish.

Jie Jie, having retrieved the Strike Dragon Gun, was wandering through the desert, occasionally performing a dive spear towards the sands below.

Unfortunately, the density of large monsters in the vast desert was too low; it was hard to even find a suitable monster for practice.

To have the Strike Dragon Gun without any dragons to fight—it was truly regrettable.

The Extinction Dragon’s body swelled as its pitch-black hue faded into pallor. The Míng Dēng Lóng extended its slender claws but still couldn’t wield the Strike Dragon Gun with one hand.

Attempting to grip it with both hands and thrust forward proved difficult due to its body structure, forcing it to remain stationary rather than swing it flexibly.

After playing around enough, he tried strapping the Strike Dragon Gun to his back, which also ended in failure.

It was ultimately not a custom-made weapon suited for him.

Transforming back into the Extinction Dragon while clutching the Strike Dragon Gun, he flew off to find a good spot not too far from Loke Clark but concealed enough to hide the Strike Dragon Gun.

However, around Loke Clark, he could see exploration ships actively patrolling, and occasionally some towering structures—apparently observation stations set up by the Guild.

Not daring to approach further, he began circling around, waiting for nightfall.

During his patrol, he spotted a small sand ship operating nearby, carrying four hunters—a standard four-person team.

But before they could leave his sight, Jie Jie saw their vessel capsized by a massive creature emerging from beneath the sands.

The hunters seemed prepared, jumping off the ship instantly and getting ready for battle.

Their opponent was an oddly shaped fish-like creature.

This monster had an enormous head, its blood-filled mouth wide open, while most of its body remained buried under the sand, exposing only parts of its armored shell.

At first glance, it looked like a turtle with a fish head.

“The Submouth Dragon has reappeared! Hurry!”

One of the hunters, wielding a bow, shouted, noticing that the Submouth Dragon wasn’t paying attention to them. He immediately fired an arrow, which shattered against the creature’s tough shell.

Meanwhile, the gunner closest to the ship began unloading barrels, quickly filling them with gunpowder and saltpeter.

“Alright, I’ll distract it!”

A hunter clad in heavy Peak Mountain Dragon armor slid down the sandy slope toward the Submouth Dragon, holding a large hammer at his side, clearly gathering strength.

The Submouth Dragon’s gaze was drawn to the sliding iron canister, opening its mouth wide to swallow the incoming hunter.

“Ho-ya!”

The hunter performed a mighty jump, raising the large hammer high above his head, then smashing it down with all his might onto the Submouth Dragon.

“Bang!”

The hammer struck the Submouth Dragon’s snout, forcing its gaping mouth shut. The hunter himself tumbled onto the creature’s face.

Before the Submouth Dragon could react, the hunter pushed himself up, striking left and right with his hammer, delivering satisfying blows to the Submouth Dragon’s cheeks.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the bowman and the katana-wielding hunter launched coordinated attacks on the Submouth Dragon, achieving noticeable results.

But retaliation came swiftly. The Submouth Dragon thrashed its body, flinging the katana warrior aside.

From above, Jie Jie could clearly see the katana warrior finishing the final phase of an Air Blade Slash, only to slash nothing but air with the Great Air Blade Spin.

Once again, the Submouth Dragon opened its mouth, leaping toward the heavy-armored hunter who had been knocked back.

Its full form was now revealed to Jie Jie: blue limbs beneath the shell, closely resembling a turtle with a fish head.

With no way to dodge, the massive hammer was swallowed into its mouth but continued to strike inside, interrupting the Submouth Dragon’s attempt to submerge, spewing out sand along with it.

“Are you alright?!”

The bowman shouted.

“I’m fine, won’t die.”

Despite the thick Peak Mountain Dragon armor bearing numerous tooth marks and sand, the hunter stood up and noticed the Submouth Dragon’s attention diverted by the katana warrior, leaving its back exposed.

“Good chance.”

Dragging the large hammer, he took a step forward, directly stepping onto the Submouth Dragon’s tail shell and sprinted across its back, aiming a powerful blow at the eye on its forehead.

“Bang!”

The lifeless dead fish eye exploded upon impact, causing the Submouth Dragon to convulse violently, shaking the hunter off.

Its body quivered, gills opening, ejecting sand with terrifying force, sending both the large hammer and the katana warrior flying.

“My turn’s ready!”

The crossbowman’s call echoed, three large explosive barrels arranged in a triangular formation awaiting detonation.

“Sound Bomb!”

A deafening explosion drowned out the bowman’s command, driving the sound-sensitive Submouth Dragon into a frenzy, charging straight toward the crossbowman.

“Hurry!”

Pulling the fallen hammerman to his feet, the trio chased after the Submouth Dragon toward the crossbowman’s position, preparing to deliver a decisive blow.

The advancing Submouth Dragon opened its mouth wide, predictably swallowing the explosive barrels whole. As the crossbowman fell backward, he fired a grenade.

“Boom!”

The barrels exploded inside the Submouth Dragon’s mouth, causing it immense pain, forcing its head to tilt backward.

Behind it, the katana warrior swung out a fishing rod already prepared, hooking the upper jaw of the Submouth Dragon with the massive curve.

The bowman and the hammerman joined in, pulling the fishing rod together with great effort. The prone crossbowman didn’t get up but instead embraced his light crossbow, firing a series of rounds into the exposed soft abdomen of the Submouth Dragon.

With combined strength from the three hunters behind, the Submouth Dragon, tilting backward, was dragged out of the sand and pulled down, revealing its smooth blue-and-black belly to the sky.

Perfect timing.

“Wow!”

“Be careful!”

Amidst the crossbowman’s alarmed shout, a colossal black dragon descended from the heavens, plunging the monstrous Strike Dragon Gun directly into the Submouth Dragon’s abdomen.

Pierced clean through.

The Submouth Dragon perished.

Jie Jie then yanked the Strike Dragon Gun, hoisting the nerve-reflex-only Submouth Dragon into the air like a fish on a line.

“What thecensoredis this thing?”

Ignoring their cries, the airborne monster cast a disdainful look, “You’ve never seen anything,” before flying away with the Submouth Dragon.

Blood dripped from the Submouth Dragon’s inverted mouth, leaving a long red streak across the desert sands.

“Captain, what do we do?”

“Let’s report to the nearest base first. If the Guild has no other instructions, we’ll continue clearing out nearby Submouth Dragons.”

The bowman stared at the long streak of blood, frowning deeply.

Multiple Submouth Dragons were active in this area, and they were the elite squad sent by the Guild for this mission, having been out here for half a month.

“If I’m not mistaken, that’s a Strike Dragon Gun, and it’s the Strike Dragon Gun from the Fēng Shān Márón…”

The hammerman, dressed in fortress guard-style armor, looked grave, lowering the mood for everyone.

The Fēng Shān Márón was a symbol of Loke Clark, and that specially crafted Strike Dragon Gun was a symbol of the Fēng Shān Márón.

“Don’t think too much about it; let’s wait for the latest news from the receptionist at the base.”
