Chapter 256

Chapter 256: Mojia Village.

Even though they had said their goodbyes, none of the three moved, instead continuing to watch the chaos on the battlefield.

“Truly a powerful monster, capable of directly suppressing the White Sea Dragon.”

The sea-faring hunter sighed in admiration.

After all, the current village chief of Mojia could only fight the White Sea Dragon to a draw, and was already considered an exceptionally capable hunter.

“Flying Dragon species… However, with wings constructed like that, its flight will lean more towards gliding. And those water-drop shaped scales that explode…”

The compiler opened the Compiler’s Book and began recording.

“The White Sea Dragon has fallen! This isn’t even a contest for territory; that creature is treating the White Sea Dragon as prey!”

The sea-faring hunter grew excited, entertaining thoughts of collecting materials, and glanced at the other two.

“Though I’m tempted too, I’m more concerned about our mission. Besides, we should first report this dangerous new monster to the assembly, shouldn’t we?”

The seasoned elite hunter saw through the sea-faring hunter’s intentions and quickly dissuaded him with just a few words.

“Indeed, such a dangerous monster appearing in this hunting ground requires us to return and prepare countermeasures.”

Mojia Village, located on shallow seas, truly was a village on the ocean, safe from land-based monsters. The Sea Dragons, old neighbors, were long familiar with strategies.

But this unknown powerful Flying Dragon required extensive preparation and manpower. Hunters within the isolated island hunting grounds also needed to be gathered and notified.

The battle between the monsters came to an end, and under the guidance of the sea-farers, the compiler and hunters arrived at the shore.

“Hah, didn’t think we’d have to get back on a ship so soon after barely setting foot on land.”

“Did you take a ship earlier? Was it due to a sea disaster?”

“We are members of a distant pioneering group, so far away that we must cross the entire ocean to return and report further developments.”

The compiler chuckled wryly.

“That’s quite the challenge. There’s some dried fish over there; you two can help yourselves.”

The sea-faring hunter nodded, started rowing the double oars, and the small boat surged forward through the waves.

A silent seabird swiftly caught up with the small boat. As they advanced, a village anchored on the sea came into view.

This was the renowned Mojia Village, a guild outpost and also the external base for the sea-farers.

Mojia Village wasn’t large—indeed, it was rather small—entirely supported by a small reef island, connected by wooden planks forming multiple docks for large ships, with various wooden houses scattered throughout, and rafts and small boats tethered on both sides.

It looked quite unstable; if the Míng Dēng Lóng were to step on it, it might collapse entirely.

Behind the reef, one could see ancient stone ruins breaking through the water.

But for human life, it was complete with everything needed, a mandatory stopover for supply replenishment and commerce for merchant ships.

Upon seeing Mojia Village, Jié Jié left the hunters behind and entered, beginning to observe.

Many people living here had webbed fingers, known as the sea-faring race, with uneven skin tones but all skilled swimmers who lived by fishing.

At the dock, there were always people processing the fish brought back by the fishermen.

The fishy smell was very strong.

“Gugugugu, gugugugu.”

Jié Jié turned around to see a girl dressed differently from the surrounding sea-farers holding some small bits waving at him. She wore a beret, a red-and-white dress, and a Hunter Guild shoulder badge, clearly the signboard girl of the Mojia Village outpost.

“Gugugugu.”

Though not a pigeon, he couldn’t stop himself from making pigeon sounds.

Shaking her head, the signboard girl handed over the small bits and sprinkled a little on the wooden planks for him to peck at.

They were very crispy, likely made from grains, and tasted pretty good.

“Aisha, hunters have returned.”

From afar came the call of a spry old man, beside whom stood the compiler and the two hunters.

Jié Jié flapped his wings and flew onto the roof, leaping across rooftops to catch up with Aisha, watching as the investigation team successfully met up with the guild signboard girl.

“These two are members of the Ancient Dragon Investigation Team that set sail eight years ago, now returning to report.”

“You take them on a tour of Mojia Village while I gather sailors and crew to personally escort them to Loke Clark.”

“Should the village chief go himself?”

“Uh, actually, we intended to go to Dongduoluma.”

The sea-faring hunter was surprised, and the compiler felt both surprised and helpless.

Loke Clark and Dongduoluma were both major hunter guilds, but they weren’t on the same continent.

“Ah? So you’re going to Dongduoluma?”

Mojia Village belonged to the Loke Clark hunter guild, not Dongduoluma, and the village chief’s face showed slight difficulty.

He had more connections in Loke Clark and originally planned to ask the guild hunters in Loke Clark to investigate the unknown monsters.

The promise he had just made made him feel somewhat embarrassed, leading him to sigh that he was getting old.

“Both are large guilds; going to Loke Clark would work fine too.”

Seeing the bitterness on the village chief’s face, the compiler thought about it. Loke Clark was also a large guild outpost, making many things easier to accomplish.

Mojia Village was still too small. They could include Loke Clark in their route. After all, their plans had changed repeatedly, but they were ultimately getting closer to success.

“Don’t worry, Loke Clark has flying airships. You can go directly from Loke Clark to Dongduoluma.”

“Flying airship?”

“It’s true; you left early and aren’t familiar with some new inventions. The flying airship is a new technology where ships equipped with large hot-air balloons can soar above the cloud seas! Fly over mountains and reach your destination directly!”

When mentioning the flying airship, the village chief’s voice was filled with excitement.

“Hmph, that’s impressive.”

The compiler and the hunter exchanged glances, thinking that going to Loke Clark wouldn’t be bad either.

“You brave warriors exploring the unknown, you’re all great. Enjoy tonight’s banquet and relax.”

The village chief patted the compiler’s shoulder and, after a brief pause, continued:

“In these eight years, you’ve missed out on a lot. Share information with Aisha. Don’t underestimate her; the outpost’s data is all organized by her. She’s even published books.”

The village chief shook his head, finished speaking, and then called his son to leave.

“Alas, the White Sea Dragon.”

As he left, one could still hear his sighs about the White Sea Dragon.

Jié Jié could pick up limited information, but judging from the compiler’s expressions, he was sure.

It’s settled!

“An unknown large monster that can prey on the White Sea Dragon, can you share intelligence with me? Oh, almost forgot, I’ll also show you around the village along the way.”

The compiler and the signboard girl were sharing information. It was clear that the compiler would need to catch up on much of the new information collected by the guild during these eight years.
