Chapter 132

Chapter 132: The Spirit of Flathead Monkey.

In the upper reaches of the Valley of Miasma, the skull of the Snake Emperor gapes with a massive maw, its ominous aura from death lingering even now.

As they drew closer, the colossal skull loomed larger in sight, and the alien soul within the monster’s shell seemed to revert to its original form.

Jie Jie remained but a tiny human, facing a monstrous entity the size of a mountain. Even the vast Flying Dragon could barely fill a few gaps between the teeth of this skeletal visage.

His jaw was encircled by fang-like mountains, forming a basin where putrid slime dripped down from the upper layers of fossilized Coral Land Plateau.

Not daring to land directly on the head of the timeless king, Jie Jie paid his respects to this being that once supported an entire region, choosing instead to land in the basin between its teeth.

Looking up, the upper jaw of the giant snake’s skull seemed like a sword hanging over his head, always threatening to fall.

The two rows of fangs like towering peaks appeared to close again, as if re-fleshed with grim bones, and he descended into a long tunnel with the writhing throat.

Jie Jie shook his head, realizing the wind that had been wrapping around him had vanished at some point, replaced by the hallucinogenic miasma seeping into his nostrils.

But he wasn’t one of those who could only succumb to the miasma’s invasion; antibodies revived in response, resisting the microorganisms, bacteria, and diseases entering his body.

Massive heat generated from cellular-level warfare surged through him, aiming to kill the invaders with high temperature.

“Hmmph!”

The heat exhaled in the form of breath, signifying the victory of vibrant life over the land of death.

The Fire Dragon lowered its head, its spiny legs beginning to run, ramming its horn against the fang-like mountain.

There was no earth-shattering tremor from the ancient king’s skull; over time, it had turned into inorganic salts, leaving no trace of the Snake King Dragon.

The spirit veins of the Ancient Dragon had merged into the ground veins, becoming part of the New Continent’s cycle.

“Expected, yet still somewhat disappointing.”

Transforming into the Great Thief Dragon, Jie Jie took a bite out of the flesh and tendons on the ground.

It looked soft but was surprisingly hard, just like the shadowy totem of the Snake King Dragon fading without any hope of ignition.

Reverting back to the Fire Dragon, Jie Jie found the previous fear expelled from his body along with the miasma, allowing him to fly out of the skeleton’s mouth.

Landing atop the timeless king’s head, he entered the hollow eye socket.

Inside the skull and eye sockets, there was nothing but emptiness.

No gains from this “Emperor of Snakes,” so what about other Snake King Dragons?

If not Snake King Dragons, then perhaps the whole Valley of Miasma filled with Flathead Monkeys?

Looking down from the Snake King Dragon’s skull, he saw the Fang Dragon Type creature covered entirely in red.

The monster’s skin was exceptionally smooth and transparent, almost as if nonexistent, revealing the grotesque muscles beneath, terrifying indeed.

From its nose to the back of its head, it was flat without ear structures—this is the physical basis for calling it Flathead Monkey.

Grim Claw Dragon.

Beyond physical traits, Grim Claw Dragons challenge the corpse-draped Ancient Dragon species dwelling in the lower depths of the Valley of Miasma, despite often ending up beaten severely, embodying the indomitable spirit of the Flathead Monkey.

Fang Winged Dragons from the upper Coral Land Plateau occasionally fell into the valley, and the Grim Claw Dragon was sniffing at one such dead dragon, holding it in its mouth.

“Roar!”

An adult Fire Dragon, which shouldn’t be present in the Valley of Miasma, leapt from the Snake King Dragon’s skull, diving toward the Grim Claw Dragon.

With poor vision, the Grim Claw Dragon saw the red attacker grow larger and larger.

“Hmmph!”

Directly pinned to the ground, Jie Jie flapped his wings and lifted the struggling Grim Claw Dragon.

Despite its slim build, the Grim Claw Dragon struggled fiercely but couldn’t disrupt Jie Jie’s flight stability.

No matter how its limbs and tail thrashed, it couldn’t reach his body.

Its struggles were futile.

After ascending to sufficient height, Jie Jie released his grip.

At the moment of release, the Grim Claw Dragon instantly flipped, attempting to bite the Fire Dragon’s claws.

However, suspended mid-air like a rootless weed, it was pressed down by the powerful wind pressure from the wings, sparing hundreds of words describing the battle process.

Like the ever-descending Fang Winged Dragons, the Grim Claw Dragon hit the ground with a thud, left gasping for air.

Jie Jie descended, taking a deep breath.

A fiery stream erupted from his chest, a fireball burning the miasma as it landed on the Grim Claw Dragon.

Fortunately, the area wasn’t too deep, and the miasma contained no explosive components, allowing the fireball to successfully explode on the Grim Claw Dragon.

Jie Jie landed, lowering his head to tear into the Grim Claw Dragon’s corpse.

The meat of the Grim Claw Dragon was dry and tough, far from delicious.

But watching a new monster totem gradually light up increased his appetite, which plummeted dramatically after the totem fully illuminated.

The Grim Claw Dragon’s forelimbs raised and fell, curiously studying its peculiar claw structure.

At the end of its forearm, the claws were layered in two tiers, resembling two interlocking claws stacked together.

“Click.”

With the movement of the bones, the lower layer of claws painfully flipped upward, crossing through the upper layer’s gaps, covering the back of the forearm.

“Click.”

Under his control, the lower layer of claws folded back again.

It was miraculous, and this unique claw structure explained the origin of the Grim Claw Dragon’s name.

After playing with his claws several more times, Jie Jie picked up a dark-hued gemstone from the Grim Claw Dragon’s remains and swallowed it whole.

Heat surged within him, his surface flushed red, and steam billowed from his mouth.

The gemstone brought pure strength enhancement, akin to when the Master Swordsman was struck by the Ghost Person Bullet.

Recalling information about the Grim Claw Dragon, its body could extract nourishing extracts used to harmonize Ghost Person Medicine, indicating significant Ghost Person elements.

So, did that mean he was now analogous to a Hunter enhanced by Ghost Person Medicine?

He had consumed both the medicine given by the Ancient Dragon People and the Monster Strength Seeds; the former restored a small amount of stamina, while the latter showed little effect upon ingestion.

Yet, the current pure strength enhancement was considerable, enjoyed even when transforming into other forms, easily shattering the hard bone-covered ground with his claws.

But this enhancement seemed to fade over time, retreating deep within his body, leaving only traces in his limbs.

Reviving it wouldn’t be difficult.

Whether anger or anything else, as long as his fighting spirit soared, it would suffice.

Thus, another challenger embodying the Flathead Monkey spirit?
