Chapter 69

Chapter 69: The Golden Thunder’s Patrol.

Jie Jie waited silently at the spot, his gaze fixed on the approaching thunder that illuminated the dusk.

The so-called “Golden Thunder” King of the Thunder Wolf Dragon arrived with his retinue, like stars surrounding the moon.

Explosions of golden thunder were the light of the king.

Wolf howls echoed, but there was none from the Golden Thunder King.

This scene was akin to the ministers beside the silent king barking at the barbarian who had intruded into the hall.

But the barbarian’s attention was entirely focused on the silent king sitting motionless in the center.

With one horn long and the other short, and an eye missing, it tilted its neck to scrutinize its enemy.

The king and the barbarian locked eyes, a familiar gaze.

The Golden Thunder King recalled the foreign Thunder Wolf Dragon it had only seen once during this period.

That look.

Jie Jie already knew that the Golden Thunder King had recognized him.

Surprisingly stirred, his heart surged as the head and forelegs of the Hōng Lóng swelled with blood, reflecting a fierce red glow.

Each step forward unleashed the most primitive, least skilled, yet most effective Dragon Charge.

The king’s guards were thrown aside one by one by the unstoppable chariot until not a single Thunder Wolf Dragon remained before the Golden Thunder King.

“Crackling.”

Golden thunder formed a fortress-like barrier, tearing apart scales and skin, driving sharp spears into the intruder.

Had it been earlier, the swarm of Thunder Light Bugs around the Golden Thunder King would have surely given Jie Jie a hard time.

But after continuous battles with the Thunder Wolf Dragons these days, the Hōng Lóng’s weak-thunder body had developed considerable resistance to lightning.

The barbarian broke through the barriers formed by the king’s personal guards, meeting the descending thunderous palm of the Golden Thunder King.

The golden thunder, along with the meaty paw, smashed onto the arm of the Hōng Lóng, only slightly staggering it.

But the thunder erupted across the Hōng Lóng’s body, sending streaks of light far away, leaving behind deep wounds inside.

But the impact force could not be dispelled, and the Golden Thunder King left its royal seat.

After delivering the authoritative left palm, the fur bristled in rage, and the right hand was raised, shimmering with the same thunderous might.

Too slow, just like ordinary wolves, too obvious a prelude.

Jie Jie dragged his heavily wounded body to the left, dodging the right palm which struck empty air.

There’s still a third strike, Jie Jie knew clearly.

The intact forepaw was raised high, carrying the entire strength of the Hōng Lóng, dragging his body forward.

Dragon Charge has displacement.

The third palm, filled with authority and anger, missed embarrassingly, and the furious claw lunged toward the direction where the Hōng Lóng had dodged —

But three columns of thunderous light shot up and barely grazed the edge of the Wing Blade, leaving a scorched mark on the wing membrane.

The Golden Thunder King couldn’t see the barbarian challenging it anymore.

Jie Jie stared at the grotesque scar on the face of the Golden Thunder King where there was no pupil.

Yet he regretted not being able to witness the expression in the king’s eyes.

The clumsy body of the Hōng Lóng leaped nimbly like a Swift Dragon, evading the Thomas Swirl Claw.

The strikes of the golden Thunder Light Bugs on his body were nothing more than mere annoyances.

The alien soul completely abandoned its response to pain, fully immersing this Hōng Lóng body into battle.

He had known from the start about the imperfections in the Golden Thunder King’s body and had prepared a strategy for the attack.

Small jumps, small jumps, pounce.

The barbarian continuously avoided the brilliance of the golden thunder, constantly moving within the blind spots of the Golden Thunder King’s vision, trying to break free from its lock.

He pounced onto the body of the Golden Thunder King, rudely opening his Blood-filled Mouth, bringing the most savage act upon the king.

The king’s guards rushed with thunder to the barbarian’s mouth, destroying the tissues there.

But every blow from Jie Jie carried all his strength, every blow from the Hōng Lóng bore an unstoppable determination and inertia.

A momentum he himself couldn’t stop.

The magnificent back armor of the Golden Thunder King was bitten to pieces, turning into powder along with the dead Thunder Light Bugs in the barbarian’s mouth.

“Aoouu!”

In a rage, the king leapt up, spinning in the air to throw the usurping barbarian to the ground, then smashing down with the weight of ten thousand bolts of thunder.

The thunder was reflected in Jie Jie’s pupils, flickering and pulling at his nerves; the shadow of death seemed to have already fallen upon his head.

There was no way to dodge.

The muscles of the Hōng Lóng tightened to the point where blood vessels burst and bones groaned.

“Boom!”

The golden light enveloped this natural enemy, but the fallen barbarian could still lift his head, biting onto the hem of the king’s robe.

Preventing it from lifting its foot, preventing it from stomping down.

How embarrassing.

Jie Jie mocked himself, biting onto the body of the Golden Thunder King, unwilling to let it deliver another backhand.

When he was thrown to the ground, he landed on his side. The sturdy structure of the Hōng Lóng skeleton ensured the main bones were intact, but the smaller ones were problematic.

Not knowing how many were broken, but fortunately, due to the preparation of tightening muscles for the impact, many bones were held in place by the muscles, avoiding complete fractures that would cause secondary injuries to the body.

Blood filled his eyes almost bursting out, wild dragon energy began to rise from the wounds of the Hōng Lóng.

Live first!

The dragon aura engulfed the body of the Golden Thunder King, almost extinguishing the golden thunder.

The never-fading supercharged state of the Golden Thunder King finally encountered its greatest challenge.

The king helplessly lifted his hand, the thunderous might on it dimmed for the first time.

“Bang.”

From the black and red mist, a monster that seemed to crawl out of the abyss pulled the Golden Thunder King off its body, supporting itself again amidst the dragon aura.

“Huff~”

Jie Jie took a deep breath.

“Boom!”

The sky-splitting sonic shockwave wrapped in dragon aura hit the Golden Thunder King, making it stagger repeatedly in confusion.

The golden thunder could not penetrate the profound dragon aura; every streak of light seemed swallowed and extinguished by the abyss.

The Hōng Lóng moved its steps amidst the chaotic abyss of swirling dragon aura, while the one-eyed king was plunged into darkness, unable to see, trembling uneasily.

Thunder kept flashing in the dragon aura.

“Haa.”

Another large breath of dragon aura was expelled from the Hōng Lóng’s mouth, passing through the battered interior of its body, crackling with vitality everywhere.

Jie Jie didn’t know how to describe his current state.

Numb, a void of numbness in the nerves.

He could feel his body being eroded and dissolved by the omnipresent dragon energy.

But he couldn’t groan, couldn’t groan in agony, couldn’t respond to his own condition.

Only numbness remained.

And battle.

Regret? For a moment of reckless valor, placing oneself in danger?

Jie Jie asked himself.

He saw the thunder on the Golden Thunder King finally pierce through the abyss, entering the true supercharged state unique to the king.

Cowering, how can one carve out a place in this savage nature?

Would he, when encountering ancient dragons transformed into calamities in the future, also cower on the ground, begging them not to notice him?

He wanted to grow stronger, wanted to witness more of the grand wonders of life.

Worth it.

Fight, exhilarating!

The monstrous body covered in hideous wounds also pierced through the abyss, pouncing and biting towards the thunderous brilliance.
