Chapter 48: Fell Asleep While Eating
Normally, the Lamp Fish Dragon primarily employs ambush tactics, often choosing to flash its opponent before retreating when encountering a Large Monster.
In battles against similar types of monsters, while the Lamp Fish Dragon has more diverse methods, it can only maintain an undefeated status against ocean kings like the Water Dragon.
Even if the Dragon Jewel could enhance all of Jié Jié’s transformation forms, it couldn’t provide the Lamp Fish Dragon with a simple and brutal decisive means.
It is exceedingly difficult for a defensive player to counterattack an offensive one. He might beat the opponent until they’re scarred, but without enough killing power, the Water Dragon could escape at any moment, and Jié Jié wouldn’t be able to catch up.
If he wanted some gains, he would have to lure it to the shore and resolve the battle in another form.
With that thought, Jié Jié began to distance himself from the Water Dragon, feigning a retreat.
When the Water Dragon chased him, he moved closer to the shore; when the attack desire diminished, he turned back to provoke it, engaging in another entanglement fight.
Meanwhile, he swam towards the water surface. If the battlefield was within the water range, he could try to pull the Water Dragon out of the water.
The idea was good, but the process wasn’t smooth. Seeing him retreat, the Water Dragon, as if finding an excuse, directly swam away without chasing.
Jié Jié wanted to engage again, but the Water Dragon retreated too quickly, impossible to catch up, not even making it turn back for a second glance.
This guy… really leaves when given an excuse, running so fast he disappeared into the boundless darkness underwater in the blink of an eye.
After fighting for so long, Jié Jié was unwilling to give up and started tracking by following the water flow and blood scent.
As he chased, the blood scent gradually thinned, indicating the distance between him and the Water Dragon was continuously expanding.
He couldn’t even chase after fresh traces, and unexpectedly, a strong current disrupted the blood scent during his pursuit.
This familiar precursor made him submerge back into the riverbed to hide, pressing the lamp sphere on his head under his body to avoid exposure.
This was a new Water Dragon, seemingly also attracted by the blood scent.
The water currents disturbed by the Lamp Fish Dragon hadn’t settled yet, causing it to wander back and forth here.
Unintentionally wandering, the remaining blood scent was completely scattered. Feeling the constantly stirring water currents, Jié Jié still restrained the urge to fight again.
Let’s go back to the shore first. This retreating thought made Jié Jié somewhat disheartened.
Only after the hovering Water Dragon above left did he swim upward, gradually seeing the faint lake light.
The Lamp Fish Dragon leaped out of the water, spreading its wings mid-air and transforming into a Male Fire Dragon. Large droplets of water shook off from the folds of its wing membrane.
The vision of the Fire Dragon expanded with height, allowing him to see golden dorsal spines spiraling through the lake surface, their owner leaping onto the shallow beach.
That was the injured Water Dragon feeding on water lizards in the shallow area.
Having searched in vain in the water, he never expected to find the prey so easily just by flying into the sky.
There was no need for him to lure the Water Dragon ashore anymore; the prey was now in the shallow area where the Fire Dragon could fully demonstrate its prowess.
Quickly bringing the Water Dragon into the attack range, Jié Jié launched a dive attack on the Water Dragon that was still feeding, a common tactic used by Fire Dragons.
All previous dejection vanished instantly; this would be a perfect surprise attack!
The excellent hearing of the Water Dragon heard the sound of air being torn apart, but it was in the middle of feeding, trying to relieve its hunger and exhaustion.
Losing vigilance, feeling exhausted, plus a bit of greed, it underestimated the threat from the sky.
By the time the strong wind pressure hit its body, it was already too late.
The sharp claws of the Male Fire Dragon pierced through the scales of the Water Dragon, the force of the dive knocked it down, pinning it onto the riverbed of the shallow beach.
Under the heavy pressure of the large Flying Dragon, the Water Dragon’s flesh was crushed into mush. Jié Jié’s claws encountered little resistance, directly gripping the Water Dragon’s ribs.
No matter how the Water Dragon struggled to twist its body, it couldn’t break free. Its loud roar pierced its own eardrums, and at such close range, its acute hearing became a disadvantage, leaving its brain in chaos and unable to come up with more effective countermeasures.
Before the Water Dragon’s chaotic brain could recover, the fiery breath of the Fire Dragon, carrying the joy of reclaiming what was lost, smeared over its body. Scales and flesh melted together under this heat, indistinguishable.
If it were in the deep-water zone, the Water Dragon could develop the battlefield downward, but in the shallow area, its head could only futilely collide with the riverbed in pain, making the water muddy.
“Even worse than those Fire Dragons!”
Jié Jié let out a bright dragon roar, the pride of the Fire Dragon resonating with alien souls in delight.
The confidence that had slightly waned was regained. Flapping his broad wings, the Fire Dragon, with terrifying strength, brought the Water Dragon, once a fellow member of the Flying Dragon species, back into the sky.
Leaving the embrace of water, accustomed to the obedience of water currents, the strange airflows in the sky were so unfamiliar and hard to adapt to.
It couldn’t breathe in the chaotic airflows, and the air inside its body was being taken away by the chaotic airflows.
Miss Wind seemed to dislike the monster that abandoned Her.
Jié Jié loosened his grip on the Water Dragon’s ribs, letting it slide off his claws and fall from the sky.
“Boom!”
The Water Dragon crashed heavily, blood blossoming on the ground.
The Male Fire Dragon returned to the ground, tearing off large pieces of scale from the Water Dragon’s body and biting into them.
One piece after another of Water Dragon meat was torn from the bones, easily chewed and swallowed.
Living in water for a long time, buoyancy meant the Water Dragon didn’t need to support its body weight, and the resistance it encountered while swimming in water was minimal. This led to the Water Dragon lacking solid muscles, resulting in extremely tender and soft meat.
At the same time, it could take advantage of its growth potential in size, producing a lot of meat due to its large size.
Moreover, feeding on nutrient-rich fish in the lake made every part of the Water Dragon’s body an essence.
Especially its belly, which became soft and tender after the scales were torn apart, rich in protein and fat, making Jié Jié abandon the pride of the Sky Dominator and directly stick his head to it, sucking wildly.
The only problem was, why did the meat make him feel drowsy?
The fire dragon’s nictitating membrane flickered repeatedly, and even after eating the belly, he couldn’t lift his proud head again, just lying on the Water Dragon’s body, wriggling to eat other parts, looking like he’d been conquered by the food.
In just ten minutes, a massive Water Dragon was reduced to only its internal organs and skeleton, with the rest eaten clean by Jié Jié.
Eating everything clean, Jié Jié’s last trace of attachment before sleeping faded away as he lay contentedly on the Water Dragon’s skeleton, closing his eyes.
Oh right, does the Water Dragon… have sleep-inducing glands?

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
