Duo… how long has it been?
‘Oh right, I played with that guy recently too.’
3 Min Top School Honorary Member.
He’s supposed to be our team’s top lane… but I want to say it’s not set in stone yet.
Anyway, since I pulled out this damn duo card that I don’t usually play, I’m planning to give those betting site bastards a real show.
As the ban/pick phase began in earnest, I switched the broadcast screen without holding back.
– ????
– What’s with the screen switch?
– No way
– What’s going on?
– Hey, we got Timid Person 190 on our team?
– Oh
– No way
– So – so
Of course, the viewers, who had no idea what was happening before this, were a bit confused for a moment, but they seemed to adapt quickly as the chat began flowing.
– Guess he was hiding in queue, lol
– Oh, was that a fake-out until now?
– No wonder it looked familiar…
– Oh, it was a replay
– Hahaha, the snipers are in shock
– Pretty well played
– But isn’t this tough to do every match?
Ignoring the viewers’ mixed concerns, I observed my teammates.
‘What’s important right now is not that.’
Jungler’s Slave and Top Lane Training Master.
They were already the top-jungle duo from MYE I had encountered several times.
‘The lane got a bit tangled, but still, I’m grateful for this.’
Jungler’s Slave got top as his main position, while Top Lane Training Master was stuck playing ADC, far from his original jungle position.
‘Not bad, though.’
Top ADC duos are one of those surprising combinations with good synergy. Although it might lack the explosive power of major duos like mid-jungle or bot lane, this combination has its unique strengths.
‘The strength of the top ADC duo reveals itself as time passes.’
At first glance, top and ADC seem to rarely interact in-game, and that’s often true in many cases. However, that only applies until the laning phase is over.
Typically, the top acts as the main tank or bruiser, leading the charge, while the ADC usually sits at the back, serving as the primary damage dealer.
So, having these two positions duoing solidifies the crucial roles of tank and main damage dealer, which are key in teamfights.
‘But what’s even more important is that both of them are already proven professional gamers.’
In short, at least those two definitely aren’t trolls.
Just that alone was a huge comfort for me.
‘To be honest, I’m a bit worried about the barcode nickname…’
And it just had to be a mid position.
I couldn’t help but remember Sandra, who haunted my nightmares.
Thankfully, after checking their record, at least one of the two known cheaters hadn’t changed his nickname.
The other games also showed signs of normal play, suggesting that the person who was trolling before likely isn’t this time.
‘Can’t relax just yet, but I guess it’s good news for now.’
In the midst of these brief thoughts, the bans began.
“Oh, right.”
I suddenly realized a grave mistake – banning Shaco like always.
“Could you please ban Sandra?”
[“Sandra, huh?”]
“Yeah.”
[“Um, okay.”]
Fortunately, Timid Person 190 complied and banned Sandra.
Thank goodness for the duo!
[Ban list]
Bobby / Akshan
⛝ / Ruler
Shaco / Master Yi
Sandra / Kindred
Vayne / ⛝
The bans were complete.
Our team was in the top lane position.
In other words, we were the second pick.
[Sett]
The enemy’s first pick was Sett.
A versatile pick that can go top, mid, or support, even after the recent nerf, it remained one of the best first picks.
[Kamal]
[LeBlanc]
Hmm…
For now, the barcode’s pick was relatively ordinary.
Since Sett was picked first by the enemy, if Sett goes mid, picking LeBlanc as a counter seems reasonable.
‘…But this is only based on appearances.’
I know in my head that this isn’t how it should be. Yet, isn’t it true that what we desire doesn’t always align with how things go?
Legends of League is a game that cultivates mental illnesses that never existed before.
Even though I’m well aware that the teammates in this game and the ones from previous games have no relation, many people carry the grudges of past defeats into their next match.
And thus, the vicious cycle of resentment in Legends of League continues unabated.
‘Tch.’
Somewhere along the line, I thought I’d escaped that cyclical trap, but it seems I’m still just an ordinary person.
‘Let’s think simple. Simple.’
So what if there’s a troll?
I can deal with it when the time comes.
Besides, how ridiculous is it to ramble on here after finally making up my mind?
[“Excuse me.”]
At that moment, a familiar voice came through my headset.
“Yes, yes?”
[“You need to pick.”]
“Oh…”
As I momentarily lost focus, it was already my turn to pick again.
I checked the ban/pick screen.
[Our team / Enemy team]
Kamal / Sett
LeBlanc / Riven
【 】 / Lee Sin
‘Hmm, with this composition…’
The enemy mid-jungle consists of Lee Sin and Riven.
It’s a setup optimized to burst down one enemy to start the 2v2.
Moreover, our mid, LeBlanc, is a counter to Riven.
‘Better avoid mid-jungle skirmishes.’
Then a couple of conditions arose.
First, my champion must have enough survivability to escape if the enemy mid-jungle comes for a gank.
Second, it should also have decent damage to hold its own in a 2v2 fight if it happens.
‘Then…’
[Talon]
– Oh
– Talon?
– Host Talon can play?
– This one’s all the rage these days, lol
– Hype hype hype
– It’s already here
Talon is originally a mid laner, but after recent jungle buffs, he has shown decent performance as a jungler.
Most importantly, his explosive damage and the ability to bypass walls make him a great advantage as a jungler.
And…
The ban/pick phase was complete.
[Our team / Enemy team]
Top: Kamal / Sett
Jungle: Talon / Lee Sin
Mid: LeBlanc / Riven
ADC: Ezreal / Jiksoo
Support: Yuumi / Amumu
The composition seemed to lack a bit in AP, but with Ezreal and Yuumi, the damage balance should be okay.
‘This is a composition that doesn’t benefit from stalling the game.’
Usually, when discussing team compositions, one talks about the difficulty.
In that sense, our team’s composition is a difficult one, while the enemy’s is relatively easy.
Depending on the perspective, our team’s composition could be seen as bad, while the enemy’s could be viewed as good.
So, we must play to maximize the strengths of our composition and mobility.
‘It won’t be easy, but it’s fine.’
After all, there have been no easy games so far.
“Let’s do well.”
[“Yeah.”]
After a brief and awkward exchange, the loading began in earnest.

I recognized the enemy IDs.
It wasn’t just a feeling.
– ?
– Aren’t those the enemy mid-jungle guys?
– Right, lol
– Cheats confirmed, hahaha
– They say your enemies meet on a narrow bridge
– Wow… are they seriously sniping like this?
– These guys are truly insane
‘You guys are in trouble.’
I felt a mix of excitement and thrill, causing my shoulders to shake a little.
It was time to show those worthless bastards the blade of revenge I had been sharpening for them.
– Welcome to Summoner’s Rift!
As the game officially began, the familiar electronic voice echoed in my ears. Normally, I would have let it slide, but the content was impossible to ignore.
『‘Cute Nyar’ gifted 10 ‘Balloon’ donations.』
『“But couldn’t you just bet on victory and let them throw?”』
– ? That’s true
– Damn, haha
– So wouldn’t the host have a guaranteed win too?
– Moron, logically speaking, if they were using the host to make money, who would benefit from this?
…Wait a minute, that makes sense?
I felt like I got hit in the back of the head with a hammer.
The viewers were right.
For the snipers betting on the betting site, there’s more than one answer choice.
My victory was just another answer choice for them too.
‘…Damn it.’
What should I do?
However, surprisingly, the enemy mid-jungle played normally.
As if they actually wanted to win this game.
‘What’s their motive?’
Could they genuinely be trying?
As I pondered that question, it happened.
– Our team was taken down!
– First Blood!
Kamal, defending against an invade at top, got slaughtered by the enemy’s five-man invade.
Even Kamal, with his excellent escape abilities, couldn’t handle that sharp CC combo.
‘They already knew Kamal was hiding in the bush.’
They not only assumed he was hiding but seemed to know his position with almost pinpoint accuracy.
From a positional standpoint, there was no chance for the enemy wards to be placed at that timing.
So there was only one answer left.
‘Look at that.’
– How do they know that?
– Isn’t that suspicious?
– That seems like it
– Seriously, how can they know?
– For real
Now I see why they were so confident.
