Chapter 30: Groundbound Fire Dragons Are Worthless
The commotion in the air clearly caught the attention of the Terror Tyrant.
It was chewing on the last fire dragon wing in its mouth, and together with the fire dragons in the sky, these lords of the sky seemed like mere food to it.
Swallowing down the fire dragon wing along with a piece of its own tooth, it stood there, lifting its upper body to look afar motionlessly, as if waiting for another fire dragon to drop down for it to eat.
When the emerald-green fire dragon charged at it, it seemed like its dream had come true. It opened its massive mouth, looking like it was waiting for the food to fly right into it.
Indeed, the food flew into its mouth, but unfortunately, it failed to seize this fleeting opportunity.
However, it wasn’t entirely without gains, like the broken poison spikes stuck in its mouth.
After a dive and tail attack, Jié Jié turned around and looked at the not-so-bright Terror Tyrant in surprise.
Since that’s the case—
“Roar!”
A fireball was hurled onto the Terror Tyrant’s body.
This commotion instantly drew the attention of all the male fire dragons because their goddess had marked an enemy unit.
Although they couldn’t instantly F2+A towards the Terror Tyrant, this chaotic battle instinctively shifted towards it.
Jié Jié no longer paid attention to those bickering male fire dragons; her focus was entirely on the Terror Tyrant.
She then realized there was no need since the Terror Tyrant couldn’t fly!
After spitting out a series of fireballs, Jié Jié rested on a giant tree for a while until the tree started shaking due to the Terror Tyrant’s approach, prompting her to spread her wings and take off again.
“You can’t fly, you can’t fly, you can’t fly~”
Jié Jié flew effortlessly and joyfully, something the Black Wolf Bird couldn’t achieve so easily.
At this time, the chaotic movements of the male fire dragons finally included the Terror Tyrant.
When a fire dragon dove towards the Terror Tyrant but was bitten and thrown to the ground instead, Jié Jié’s goal was achieved.
She followed up with a dive, swinging her tail heavily across the Terror Tyrant’s face, pretending to rescue the male fire dragon.
Do fire dragons have the intelligence to understand this situation?
Poison began dripping from the corners of the Terror Tyrant’s mouth, and its jaw loosened, releasing the male fire dragon’s claw.
The male fire dragons observing the fight understood what was happening. Besides fighting their competitors, they also simultaneously attacked the Terror Tyrant.
This mating chaos eventually pulled the Terror Tyrant, an outsider, into the fray.
As the Terror Tyrant’s hatred was drawn away, Jié Jié squatted on a giant tree watching from the sidelines.
Occasionally roaring a couple of times, she helped the male fire dragons who were severely beaten by the Terror Tyrant.
The other male fire dragons were happy to see one less competitor. If she didn’t help, some male fire dragons might end up here, causing a significant loss of fighting power.
Jié Jié couldn’t care less about the disputes between the male fire dragons; the exit of some weaker ones was inevitable.
But as time passed, some gave up, while others joined in. The commotion here was too loud. So many fire dragons gathering could only mean one thing—mating.
As long as the mating hadn’t ended, more fire dragons would come to take a look. Anyway, they had nothing better to do all day.
Some fire dragons that left didn’t go far, hiding and waiting for a chance, even bypassing the battlefield to deliver food to her.
She didn’t accept the food. Apart from maintaining the little conscience she had left, she was also worried that more fire dragons would emulate this act of flattery, shifting their attention from the Terror Tyrant.
She could only endure hunger while guarding, occasionally dealing with some over-aggressive fire dragons who tried to ride her back when she wasn’t paying attention, which she shook off with a flip and a swing of her tail.
For those who still wouldn’t listen, she rewarded them with a fireball.
She was strong; none of the fire dragons present had the strength to forcibly mate with her.
They were all weaklings, unable to even perform properly!
The female fire dragon proudly raised her head, disdainfully looking at the fire dragon she had thrown to the ground.
This action seemed to greatly boost the morale of the male fire dragons. Or perhaps for them, a mother tyrant added points, and combat ability translated into charm.
The five remaining competitors intensified their attacks on the Terror Tyrant. Jié Jié thought they were all driven by lust.
Gradually, the fire dragons became increasingly skilled at misdirecting attacks, and every counterattack by the Terror Tyrant missed.
It stopped countering and turned to leave.
Repelling the Terror Tyrant seemed to be considered part of the victory by the male fire dragons. They didn’t pursue it but returned to their focused brawls.
Now, those still in the arena weren’t easy opponents. Contestants number one and two were still there.
They didn’t chase, but Jié Jié did.
She first went to a nearby pond to drink some water, using her long chin spikes to spear two dumb fish to replenish her nutrients, still refusing the prey offered by the male fire dragons.
With a flap of her wings, she flew into the sky and pursued the Terror Tyrant.
In this short period, another male fire dragon was eliminated. Some hidden fire dragons, seeing the fierce competition, chose to give up, swallowing their gifts before quietly leaving.
Nature’s competition for mates is cruel. Often, powerful old dragons use their strength to gather as many females as possible, while young fire dragons wait for them to grow old, then win in competition, becoming old dragons themselves awaited by younger ones.
Thus, the cycle begins. But oddly enough, the population of fire dragons thrives because of this pattern, ensuring effective gene transmission and strengthening the clan.
The key point in this pattern isn’t about the old dragons monopolizing harems, but “winning in competition,” gaining strength through intense internal competition.
Survival of the fittest, no one can say otherwise—it’s natural law.
…
The old dragon came.
The veteran’s dark, deep shell reflected little red light in the night until dawn broke, drawing the attention of all the fire dragons.
Young male fire dragons hated how it could claim every female nearby, yet envied it and wanted to become it.
Jié Jié’s claws gripped anxiously as she remembered being knocked down from the air when she was a Black Wolf Bird.
After a dive, a surging pillar of fire brought on by sunrise pierced through the night, splitting the dawn.
The male fire dragons stepped back, ending the chaotic battle, but didn’t fully retreat. They observed from the shadows, still looking for opportunities to target the old dragon.
Jié Jié’s eyes were filled with caution as the seasoned male fire dragon scrutinized her carefully, seemingly captivated by the patterns on her shell.
The fire column led by the experienced individual burned like a giant sword towards the Terror Tyrant, which had no choice but to turn back.
The Terror Tyrant groaned, black and red flames erupted and flashed, piercing through the flaming sword.
It ceased its breath weapon attack, and the remaining fire transformed into fireballs that exploded on the Terror Tyrant’s body.
The dragon’s breath weapon didn’t hit the area around its breathing organ; the elemental suppression lasted only for a moment.
“Roar!”
The fire dragon dived down, its claws hooking onto the Terror Tyrant’s back.
Perhaps too much energy had been lost from the wound, the Terror Tyrant was directly brought down by the force of the dive.
The performance of the seasoned male fire dragon was much stronger than when he fought her.
But even so, she let out a determined low growl:
“As long as I find an opportunity, groundbound fire dragons are worthless!”

When you see a mighty male fire dragon soaring through the sky, you can't confidently say it’s truly a fire dragon—because it might have been a rare silver fire dragon before you noticed it.
If you suspect it was a silver fire dragon, it could have been a spinosaurus even earlier.
When someone tells you it was once a spinosaurus, you still can’t be sure—because before others saw it, it might have been an elder extinction dragon.
You may feel certain it’s a flying dragon by now, yet you can't assert that either—because underground where you can't see, it might actually be an ancient mountain dragon.
So, what is it really?
In the beginning,
It was just a hairy spider.
