[TS] Obsessed Gamer: The Ultimate Return – Chapter 344

SY vs SU5.

Not long ago, SCV was virtually defeated in the semi-finals, making SY the only hope for Korea.

Moreover, SU5 has traditionally been known as the European powerhouse that counters Korean teams.

Especially considering how many Korean teams have been taken down by SU5 in the past, Korean fans couldn’t hide their anxiety.

To be honest, if SY were to get stomped, I would totally downvote ㅋㅋ

-Downvote ㅋㅋ

-This is honestly a downvote ㅇㅇ

-Hey, but shouldn’t we root for the Korean team? They seem off.

-Honestly, among SCV fans, those who want SY to get eliminated are totally downvoting ㅋㅋㅋ

-SY fighting!

-But still, SY has to win.

-Please win… Why am I so anxious?

With fans’ worries hovering between anticipation and dread, the intense match was about to begin.

All our team members gathered together without missing anyone.

“Ji-hoon, what’s up?”

“I’ll be watching here today.”

“Oh really? Do as you please. Ah, it’s about to start.”

Even Kim Ji-hoon skipped training today to sit with us.

He claimed it was a rest day, but it was obviously too important of a match to miss.

“Who do you think will win today, sister?”

“SY.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s a Korean team.”

“Come on, that’s not it.”

“Then do you think SU5 will win?”

“No, I’m for SY too.”

“What’s with that.”

Kim Jae-min turned away after saying something silly as usual.

It was time for the ban/pick to start.

SU5’s side was blue.

SY’s side was red.

『“Now, it’s time for the ban/pick.”』

『“Let’s see what kind of ban/pick SY shows… The general consensus is that SY might be slightly more favorable, but the truth is, there’s a bit of anxiety going against teams like SU5.”』

『“SU5 has traditionally shown strong performances against Korean teams.”』

『“Yes, and more than anything, it’s hard to predict what kind of game SU5 will bring.”』

『“Then… let’s check out the ban/picks!”』

SU5’s first ban was LeBlanc.

Since SY’s core is the mid-laner Rainbow, it seemed they wanted to take out LeBlanc, one of Rainbow’s signature threats.

[Gwynn]

Next up, SY’s ban was Gwynn.

As blue team, they absolutely had to cut Gwynn, so this was to be expected.

And……

At last, the first match’s ban/pick between SY and SU5 was complete.

[SU5 / SY]

Top: Oren / Nyar

Jungle: Diana / Viego

Mid: Galion / Twisted Fate

ADC: Kai’Sa / Zayan

Support: Nautilus / Janna

If we were to compare the team compositions in a nutshell, it was simple.

An extreme engage composition in SU5 against SY, which would counter it.

While it’s generally true that engage-based compositions have a higher win rate against poke compositions, SY’s composition leaned more toward being a ‘counter-poke’ rather than pure poke itself.

It was an uncertain ban/pick set-up.

『“The focus here will be on how well Janna performs, right?”』

『“Exactly. Especially since SU5’s composition has a strong engage, it will be crucial to see how Janna can save champions who might get picked off.”』

『“In that sense, Janna appears to be an excellent choice. Tahm Kench also has strong saving capabilities, but Janna actually revives them.”』

『“That’s right!”』

And then, the actual game kicked off.

-Welcome to Summoner’s Rift!

As the game began, a roar much louder than any cheers I had previously heard erupted.

After all, SY was a team with a huge international fan base, so it made sense.

Moreover, from the perspective of American fans, they would rather see a Korean team win than a European one, rivals in their eyes, so the cheers were natural.

It was like how we couldn’t bear to see a Chinese team win, for a similar reason.

During the early invade timings, both teams were actively making moves.

Both squads had champions favorable for an invade, leaving no reason to back down.

[⬇] [⬇] [⬇]

There were flurries of pings from both sides.

SU5 champions moved toward the top bush, while SY champions entered the enemy’s red side.

They were clearly aiming for high-probability areas.

『“In this case, SY is probably feeling a bit better, right?”』

『“Yeah, it seems like we could end up with a 50-50 split, but let’s wait and see.”』

Their jungler starts crossed paths.

SU5’s Diana started from blue, and Viego also began with blue buffs.

As for the top lane, the melee-vs-range matchup with a tank vs. a damage dealer meant Nyar could apply early pressure easily.

This was the rationale for both junglers’ starting choices.

‘From SU5’s perspective, Ornn holding out is a win, and for SY, they’re looking to set up a dive early on.’

It was a seamless transition from ban/pick to early invade.

‘Conversely, SU5 seems to be targeting the bot lane… because if Janna gets caught in the early laning phase, she’s pretty much helpless.’

The game continued.

As predicted, SU5 and SY moved as previously planned.

SY set up for a top dive while SU5 planned a bot dive.

That’s where their fates diverged.

『“Ah… the grab missed!”』

『“Will this dive… work?!”』

『“Meanwhile! The top dive is…!”』

In the chaotic circumstances, SY succeeded in the top dive.

-First Blood!

-Enemy slain!

On the other hand, the bot lane situation wasn’t looking great for SU5.

-Enemy slain!

-Ally slain!

While they managed to kill Janna, the delay had cost Nautilus his life, and all the spells of Diana and Kai’Sa were blown.

If we consider that Nautilus got a kill for SU5 while SY’s ADC got a kill, it was a huge loss.

『“Alright! SY looking good!”』

『“They planned their top and bot moves from the start, so this is incredible for SY, right?!”』

『“And mid! Right now, Galion lost his teleport and is struggling to manage his health!”』

True to that, while the action unfolded in top and bot, Rainbow’s Twisted Fate in mid was putting on the pressure, forcing Galion to shop again.

Given the disparity between melee and ranged champions, and with Rainbow being involved, this was no surprise.

The early game saw SY getting a substantial advantage.

Thus, even when the Rift Herald fight began, the power of SY’s comp started to show.

Even though SU5 forced one kill, they were covered by Janna.

『“Oh! She saved them!”』

『“Janna! She pulled that off!”』

Eventually, SU5’s champions started to get hunted down one by one by SY’s champions.

SY’s composition was designed to thrive if they could hold out for just one turn and then counterattack.

-Enemy slain!

-Double kill!

In the meantime, Longbow’s Zayan scored a couple of kills and leveled up significantly.

On top of that, after a massive team fight win, SY secured the Rift Herald, tipping the already favorable game completely in their direction.

-Red team has slain the Rift Herald!

『“SY!!! That’s it!”』

『“Talk about a huge win, this is huge! That feels great for SY!”』

『“SU5 couldn’t just let SY have the Rift Herald for free, so they made a bold attempt, but they got sucked in by Janna!”』

『“Exactly!”』

The chat exploded with excitement.

-That was insane

-SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!SY!

-That was rough lol

-3-peat incoming

-Where are those idiots who said SY would get stomped? ㅋㅋㅋ

“Wow… SY is really killing it.”

“I know, right?”

I reflected on the scene of Kim Jae-min and Seo Yeon-woo with their jaws dropped.

Despite SU5’s sharp ambush, SY’s counterplay was stunning.

The game went on.

With a massive victory in the Rift Herald fight, SY smoothly broke down the outer tower in mid.

The game was clearly in their control.

From there, it turned into a one-sided match without needing to look further.

SY pushed forward, and though SU5 showed sharp counterattacks here and there, they couldn’t stop SY’s advance.

『“And with that, SY takes the first set!”』

『“Woohoo!”』

SY vs SU5.

The first set has concluded.
