The five families, excluding the Russo Family, had gathered together.
Before the official meeting started, I apologized to the Marinelli Triplets, who arrived the latest.
It wasn’t intentional, but with the guys I had shot down in my machine-gun barrage, I had no choice.
A Godfather’s apology.
Manfredi, representing the Marinelli Family, accepted the apology without hesitation.
Leaving a statement that if I hadn’t fired the machine gun, the damage would have been greater.
“Brother, let’s get straight to the point.”
“Yeah. Everyone’s busy, after all.”
Almost as soon as I responded to Veronica, the triplets chimed in.
“We’re not as busy as you, brother-in-law.”
Lia, the second daughter of the Marinelli Family.
I couldn’t quite remember who exactly had eaten the horn she handed over, but it was one of Felicita’s brothers, who willingly gave the horn for me and her sister.
Lia seemed to show a bit of interest upon hearing Veronica refer to me as brother.
Anyway, I quickly dove into the main agenda of the hastily called committee meeting.
We had captured Gata Melata, and while the Golem Princess, Sanchez’s daughter, was in our hands, the war wasn’t over yet.
Even though the Sanchez Family would fall, the Dragovich Family was still around.
Mikhail Dragovich, their boss, had plenty of reasons to enlist outside forces to ensure his survival. He wasn’t the type to cling to pride, nor was it the time for such concerns.
“First off, let’s say that all of Sanchez Family’s territory will be taken over by Little Dom’s Solomon Family.”
Of course, there were a few exceptions.
“Are we really giving all that vast area to that punk?”
“….”
A particularly loud voice.
Everyone in the meeting room turned their gaze to Luca Marinelli.
“Godfather. Is the territory we just secured for our Carmen Family included as well?”
“No, that’s not it. The Sanchez side originally took over the Carmen Family’s territory.”
But the most pressing question came from Paula Carmen.
“And one more thing. Little Dom.”
“Yes, Godfather.”
Following Paula, I began a back-and-forth with Solomon. Given the situation, Luca wisely said nothing.
Well, as he mentioned, if you combine the Sanchez Family’s territory with what’s currently Solomon Family’s, it might encroach on the powers of not just the Felini Family but the Marinelli Family as well.
“Do you remember what I discussed with Elena?”
“….”
Solomon said nothing.
He didn’t seem to be avoiding the question but was rather pondering exactly what conversation it was.
To be honest, those talks didn’t all happen at once; new details had been added over time.
The gist was that Solomon said he wouldn’t expand territory in the city center, only to request expansion later, which we agreed to.
“Manfredi.”
“?”
“I’d like you to hand over Melata to me.”
“Alright, I’ll hand it over to the Godfather.”
But first, I needed to get my hands on Gata Melata.
What I didn’t expect was Manfredi’s easy agreement to hand it over without question.
“We promised the Godmother we would definitely capture Melata.”
“…What did Elena say that she would give in exchange?”
Manfredi nonchalantly claimed there was nothing specific.
“How about 10% of the goods coming in from Tyrrhenia this time?”
“Not a bad deal.”
As Manfredi and I quickly exchanged Melata and drug supply quantities, Luca fell silent again.
The current drug supply distribution went as follows:
Felini 50% / Marinelli 15% / Carmen 15% / Solomon 10% / Russo 10%
With the new supply, it would adjust to:
Felini 40% / Marinelli 25% / Carmen 15% / Solomon 10% / Russo 10%
“Alright, Little Dom. Let’s pick up our discussion again.”
“Yes, Godfather.”
“I’m passing the Melata that the Marinelli Family gave me back to you.”
“…Really?”
“But there’s a condition. You have to give up all the territory in the city center.”
“….”
Solomon didn’t respond immediately.
Well, thinking about it, he was the one who initially proposed to us, but considering he hesitated now, this might actually be a Solomon move.
“Comparing the territory you’re going to swallow from the Sanchez Family, it shouldn’t be a big deal.”
Solomon already had the Golem Princess, the daughter of Sanchez, secured. With the acting boss Melata added into the mix, it was clear that controlling the Sanchez Family would be easy.
He could even eliminate Melata altogether to crush their morale.
“What are you hesitating about? When you’re served such a great opportunity, you should just gobble it up.”
“….”
While Solomon remained silent, Luca spoke up again.
When I shot Luca a threatening glance from my seat, he quickly averted his gaze.
“What if we hadn’t supported you properly in this war?”
After silencing Luca, I mentioned the favors done for Solomon. Vanella, Lumini, Granada. The forces led by the three Caporegimes were added, followed by the support troops led by Carini and Viola.
The Felini Family’s forces in this war were almost on par with the Marinelli Family, who had three of the boss’s children deployed.
“I understand. If you hand over Melata to me, I’ll give up all the territory in the city center.”
“Good. Then we have a deal.”
With that, the immediate important agenda was concluded.
Now, all that remained was to share what each family needed to do moving forward.
“Our Carmen Family will focus on reorganization since we have new territory,” Paula stated.
“…Same here,” Solomon added.
The Russo Family, who weren’t present, was a given. They would have no choice but to dedicate everything they had to end the war with the Vipers.
“And Marinelli?”
“We plan to keep an eye on those Black punks. If they crumble, the Dragovich will be able to attack us immediately.”
The Black Gang Alliance.
Those ambiguous and shady figures positioned between the Dragovich Family, Marinelli Family, and Felini Family.
Although they had continuously suffered losses against Dragovich recently, their value hadn’t diminished just yet.
As Manfredi had just mentioned, they served a kind of buffer zone.
Just like how the five families were able to limit the war to the west of the city by preemptively attacking the Sanchez Family.
It was clear Marinelli also intended to support the Black Gang to restrict the battlefield to the southwest and south of the city.
*
“Godfather, where will the Wolves move next?”
I was about to mention the whereabouts of the Felini Family.
But even before I could speak, it was quicker for Paula, who was beside Veronica, to ask.
“For the time being, we’ll stay in the territories of the Carmen and Solomon Families like we are now.”
If the war with the Sanchez Family was over and we tried to return, we all knew how that would play out.
‘Dragovich would have a field day devouring the still-unstabilized Carmen and Solomon.’
In a sense, the four families collaborated to divide their roles excluding Russo.
Carmen and Solomon would be reorganizing for the next offensive, and Felini would be stationed in their territories to guard against any unexpected attacks.
Meanwhile, Marinelli was set to attack Dragovich with the Black gangs to ensure they wouldn’t dare think of hitting Carmen and Solomon.
“Okay, then let’s wrap up the meeting. Little Dom, you won’t need help absorbing the Sanchez Family, right?”
“Yes, my subordinates can handle that.”
As I mentioned earlier, everyone was pretty busy.
The committee meeting concluded quickly.
“Mr. Solomon, could you step outside for a moment?”
“Yes?”
Veronica and Paula took Solomon out of the meeting room first.
They probably wanted to tie up some loose ends with Solomon regarding the new territory Carmen Family had just secured.
“Brother-in-law!”
“Yeah?”
Such an unfamiliar title.
My sister-in-law, who had the same brilliant golden hair and bright purple eyes as Felicita.
Lia approached me, wagging her tail in excitement, while Manfredi stood towering beside her.
Luca merely got up to leave his seat.
“Honestly, doesn’t 10% seem a bit too excessive?”
“Well, you guys kept your promise to Elena, so she can’t really say much about it.”
It still wasn’t confirmed, and I needed to consult Elena.
The Felini Family operated under a joint system with two bosses, the Godfather and the Godmother.
“So, is there something you wanted from me?”
“Your sister asked me to relay something to you.”
As Lia shot a glance at Manfredi, he revealed the hand he had hidden behind his back.
“What is this? Is that a Mandrake?”
“It’s a bit odd-shaped, but yes, it’s a Mandrake.”
“Felicita wanted me to pass it on to the Carmen Family’s boss.”
“…The last one you sent met a quick death.”
The rebels of the Carmen Family.
I had no idea how they had the gall, but they went out with a bang, only to meet their end rather dramatically.
“I’ll make sure to relay it to Veronica.”
“I noticed you two seem to get along quite well.”
“Huh? It’s just a change of title.”
“That’s proof of getting closer.”
Lia giggled, seemingly quite pleased about something.
“Anyway, we’ve made sure to deliver, so we’ll be leaving now.”
Lia was the first to exit the meeting room among the triplets, and Luca followed his sister out.
“Manfredi.”
“Wolf. Or should I say brother-in-law now?”
“When did that become a thing?”
“Even if I don’t, the other siblings would insist, so there’s not much I can do.”
Though Manfredi referred to me as ‘brother-in-law,’ I hadn’t called him ‘brother’ just yet.
“By the way, your father would definitely be glad about the 10%. Although it’s only this shipment.”
“Since we captured Melata, we should give something in return.”
“Should we be concerned about it being vetoed by the Godmother?”
“….”
I couldn’t say it was entirely impossible.
“Don’t worry. With me and Felicita, we’ll figure it out somehow.”
“Alright, then I’ll just trust my sister and brother-in-law.”
At this point, he seemed to be teasing me a bit.
“Take care, brother-in-law.”
Once Manfredi left the meeting room, it was just Sarina and me left.
“Sarina, we should get going too.”
“To the Academy?”
“No, to my mansion.”
“…That’s a bit disappointing.”
Disappointing? What’s there to be disappointed about!
