After finishing my call with Sharl, I left the room and headed to Toko’s.
“Toko.”
Upon entering, Toko was lounging on her bed, reading a magazine, still in her uniform.
“Knock first next time!”
Since Toko complained, I gave the door a couple of knocks while it remained open.
“Can I talk to you for a moment?”
“The most meaningless knock in the world! What is it?”
“Sharl just called. Professor Jerry approved our request to go outside of the town.”
“Seriously? Sweet!”
Toko jumped up happily.
“Just to let you know, Sharl said we can go outside, but we have to be careful.”
“Yeah, yeah. I won’t be alone, so it’ll be fine. Alright! Let’s head to Ilmera’s place.”
With that, Toko rushed out through the gate. Checking the clock, it was still just past 5 PM.
Thinking of inviting others, I returned to my room, passed through the gate, and headed to the dormitory.
“It’s darker over here, huh…”
Looking out the window, it was already dark. Considering it’s 8 PM here, it was only natural, though it still felt strange.
Leaving the room, I headed first to the neighboring room.
“Frank! Frank Heageligh!”
I loudly knocked on Frank’s door, calling his full name.
“Shut up! And don’t call me by my full name!”
Frank emerged with an annoyed expression.
“Wow, I finally remembered your last name.”
“You’re ruthless… Anyway, what’s up? It’s rare for you to visit this late.”
“I usually don’t come this way after returning.”
“Since we’re now allowed to leave town, how about we go?”
“Huh? Did your parents approve? That’s great!”
“Yeah. That’s why. Shall we go?”
“You can go anytime, right?”
“Aye. How about Cedric?”
“Hmm? Nah, he doesn’t seem like the type to enjoy this kind of thing…”
“Alright, let’s ask him!”
This time, I stood in front of the door across from my own.
“…Is Seager the right name?”
“Pretty sure.”
Frank nodded in agreement, so I knocked on the door.
“Cedric! Cedric Seager!”
“Wow, you’ve actually remembered my last name.”
Cedric quickly opened the door and stepped out.
“That was fast.”
“I heard you calling Frank…”
“Right. Let’s go outside the town.”
“Outside the town? Sure, but are we good to go?”
“We’re good. Mom was so moved by my grades that she cried and gave her permission.”
“She cries easily.”
“I’m glad I’m not your parent.”
“Mom must have had a tough time with me…”
And then there are those who excel at studying.
“In any case, shall we go?”
“I guess, but I’m not really into hunting. I’ll just watch.”
Typical Cedric; he doesn’t like this kind of stuff.
“No fox hunting, right?”
“Haven’t done that…you seem well-informed.”
“I read about it when researching England.”
“England, huh… And what did you find about Germany?”
“Beer.”
“And sausages, right?”
Frank hit the nail on the head.
“Exactly.”
“Yeah, that about sums it up.”
“Yeah. Though going outside the town sounds good, when do we go? Next weekend?”
It’s Monday today.
“Let’s go tomorrow. I have plans on the weekend.”
Saturday is the usual thing.
On Sunday, I have plans to go out with Sharl around town.
“Hmm, tomorrow, huh. Fine by me, but what about Frank?”
“I’m good too.”
Cool.
“Alright, see you tomorrow. Good night!”
With their agreement, I returned to my Japanese room in good spirits. Looking out the window, it was still light outside, which made me feel a bit strange.
The next day, when classes ended, I went home briefly to prepare. Then, heading to the lounge in the dormitory, I found Frank and Cedric waiting for me in their uniforms.
“Huh? You’re in uniforms?”
“Well, at least Cedric has a coat on.”
“Which makes you guys look more like athletes.”
“You don’t really look like wizards in those.”
I still feel that wearing uniforms makes me look more like a wizard.
“Haven’t got anything else. Mom would get mad if I ruined a uniform.”
Because they’re white, mom says they’re a pain to wash. Remember last time Toko got hers dirty during a duel and got in trouble.
“Well, you guys are into martial arts anyway.”
“Don’t you think something like Matthias’ armor would be better?”
Matthias wore heavy armor like a knight.
“It’s too heavy. It’s tiring and requires a lot of maintenance. And with beasts, you don’t really need it.”
“My coat is of good quality. Remember how you guys fought during the duel and the president used it?”
Indeed, Sharl’s coat was effective enough to protect against Toko’s ice magic.
“Understandable for Cedric, but are you fine, Frank? Isn’t it dangerous?”
“I can use enhancement spells too, and Cedric can always heal me with recovery magic if anything happens.”
“Really?”
“Didn’t I say I have a broad but shallow skill range? I’m no expert, but if you’re injured, let me know. I can fix minor wounds. Though you guys likely won’t need it…”
Impressive.
“And about weapons?”
“I have a staff, like the president. Personally, I avoid close combat too.”
Cedric showed us a staff like the fork Sharl always carried.
“Okay…how about Frank?”
“He has a sword but keeps it hidden here.”
Considering Cedric’s staff and Frank’s sword…
“Don’t you think we’re lacking a spear?”
“Come on, not even a trident is necessary!”
“Of course, it’s unnecessary. Give it up…”
Both of them sighed as they stood up, so we decided to depart.
