“Claus, please drop that topic. I’m getting an unpleasant image in my head right now.”
Occasionally, my parents act overly affectionate with each other.
And I, along with Toko, watch them with disapproving eyes.
“Yeah… Oh, there’s no need for honorifics or polite speech. I hate all that kind of stuff.”
Now that I think about it, Frank doesn’t use honorifics either.
“Is this guy really a teacher?”
“Seems so.”
“Hmph…
“That topic’s fine. So? What did you catch?”
Claus asked Frank.
“Ah, a bear. A really big grizzly bear.”
“That’s impressive! As expected from the kid of the Hegelichs!”
“No, it wasn’t me. The one who caught it was the offspring of you two lovebirds over there.”
I’ll kill you, Frank…!
“You mean…? Yes, you’re right. Your magical power is immense. The kid from Naga also… L… Is it okay to say?”
He probably knows about our mother, considering he called them lovebirds.
Still, as a former teacher, he shows concern…
“Not allowed!”
“Got it. But a grizzly… The kid from Naga and that princess didn’t seem that strong either…”
Our mother might not be good, but our father is reasonably strong.
Also, “that princess”…
It appears that both the mother and daughter have the same nickname…
“L?”
“Ignore it.”
When Frank tilted his head, Cedric chuckled.
“Anyway, since we caught the bear, could you buy it from us? Frank said you’d buy it.”
“Yeah, bears sell well, so it’s not a problem. Just show it to me.”
“Cedric’s got it.”
“I see… let’s go somewhere more appropriate, show it inside. Come on.”
With that, Claus went inside the building, so we followed him. Inside, there were just three ordinary desks, making it look like a regular workspace.
By the way, there’s even a computer…
“Isn’t this place supposed to be a factory?”
“The workspace is at the back. We can’t just show anyone that”.
Ah… I see.
“Wanted to see the blacksmith’s work?”
“Probably you’re imagining an old-fashioned blacksmith. But modern blacksmithing isn’t like that thanks to advancements in magic; it’s more simplified. If you want to know more, you should take the Enchantment classes”.
“Enchantment?”
“That’s a second-year class. It’s about casting spells onto objects. I used to teach that subject”.
I see.
No wonder he was suitable.
“I might give it a try…”
“You should, you really should. It’s heavy stuff, though. Anyway, Cedric, can you show the grizzly?”
“Sure.”
Nodding, Cedric brought forth the bear. Then, a massive, completely out-of-place grey grizzly lay sprawled across the room.
“Wow, impressive work. You don’t see catches like that every day.”
“And Tsukasa did it barehanded.”
“He was completely one-sided about it.”
That’s right.
“Hmm…! This is impressive. So, I’m buying this one, right?”
“Please.”
Given its quality, I think it’ll sell well. Nevertheless, it’ll take some time for appraisal since I have to contact various places.
Fair enough.
“How much are we looking at in rough numbers?”
“Roughly 300,000…? Not sure.”
300,000!?
“Can I buy a trident with that?”
Smiling, I look at Frank.
“No way. Those cost over a million.”
Over a million!?
“Frank, I don’t know about the trident, but you don’t have a weapon either, right?”
Claus asked.
“No, and it’s frustrating watching everyone else with weapons.”
“Hmm… If you say so, I can make you one. There will be a cost though.”
“Trident”
“Bring me a million.”
No point…
“Hey, how long does this appraisal take?”
“Eh? A week or two, probably.”
That’s faster than I expected.
“Well, sounds good.”
“Understood. How should we get in touch? Should we leave a message through Frank?”
Hmm…
“Is Claus originally from this area?”
“No, he commutes. From Berlin.”
Where?
No, wait.
I’ve heard that name somewhere…
“Tsukasa, it’s the capital of Germany”.
Frank explained.
Ah, right.
I read about Germany and it was mentioned.
“We mentioned family acquaintances, so he must be from the same town as us.”
“That’s right. Both Ilmera and I are from Berlin.”
Wow…
“It must be tough, working with the time difference.”
“We’re not in customer service, so it’s not much trouble. Besides, I just started my shift”.
Ah, that’s why you were outside…
“So could you call my cell when it’s done?”
“Yeah, sure. Just give me your number.”
Claus and I exchanged contact details.
“Alright, I’ll get in touch once the appraisal is finished. Oh, and as a word of advice, don’t get too caught up in this just because it seems profitable. I’ve seen many students neglect their studies over this sort of thing.”
Impressive as expected from a former teacher.
To be honest, I was about to get hooked on this. It’s incredible to earn 300,000 so easily.
Though, obviously, skill plays a huge part in that.
“Understood. I’ll be careful.”
“Good. Now, get going. I have work to do.”
With that, Claus sent us out of the workshop.
“Frank, how old is that guy?”
“About 50.”
50 years old…
“What’s with the muscle-bound look?”
“Apparently, craftsmen who look scrawny don’t get much respect. If you had a choice between a sword forged by me or by Cedric, which would you pick?”
Asked by Frank, I looked between the two. Frank has a solid build, so his sword would probably be good.
Cedric… well, he doesn’t even look like he could forge one.
“I see. Definitely….”
“That’s the point. Let’s head back.”
Frank said so, so we started walking together.
“Must be beginner’s luck, huh? Running into a bear right away and getting 300,000?”
Amazing.
What should I buy with this?
“The amount isn’t confirmed yet though. By the way, is encountering something like that considered good luck?”
“Normally, it would be considered bad.”
“Save it for the trident or buy something you like…
What to do?
“Seriously, this guy’s so mundane.”
“That’s what’s great about Tsukasa. It’s entertaining to watch… although there are extremely nerve-wracking times sometimes.”
