After Tōko left the room, I read a manga and went to bed.
I don’t know what happened with those two, but they were probably teaching each other magic.
The next day, after the basic studies class ended, we all stayed in the classroom chatting.
Of course, Tōko went home on her own.
“Frank, do you know about the Magic Tournament?”
I asked, remembering the practice tournament Sharl told me about yesterday.
“Oh, the one at the end of the month. Yes, I know about it, and my dad told me to participate.”
Of course.
“Will Ilmera participate too?”
I looked up at Ilmera who was standing nearby.
“Yes. Though, I’ll just do it casually.”
Frank and Ilmera don’t seem particularly interested in participating.
“There’s not much excitement here.”
“We’ll do it if we’re told to, but it’s strange to fight against academy mates.”
“It is just a game after all, but it could escalate if taken too seriously… And once we get heated, there’s no stopping us.”
I see…
These guys are serious warriors, so even in a game, they fight seriously.
“It’s a practice, right?”
“Not everyone fights with that in mind. Some will still attack you recklessly.”
“Like Berserker…”
Both of them glanced at Yuika.
“Ugh… I’m not a Berserker. I’d like to be called a calm Assassin.”
Would you now?
“Is there an Assassin as conspicuous as you?”
“You’re loud with both your magic and movements.”
Yuika slumped, having been teased by the two of them.
“But in the Magic Tournament, I’ll tear you apart silently…”
She seems dangerous.
“See? People like that are out there.”
You’re right, that’s a tough situation.
“I don’t like Yuika either. Our styles don’t match, and she has already seen my ultimate move.”
Ilmera’s ultimate move is teleportation magic, but both Yuika and I saw it when we went bear hunting together.
“What about Tsukasa?”
Yuika asked.
“I’m still thinking about it. There’s no grand prize for winning, right? Also, I don’t want to fight girls.”
Not fair to hit them. If it comes to that, it’d be either joint techniques or submission holds…
No, submission holds are out of the question. It’s the worst-case scenario and I might get an unflattering nickname.
“I don’t want to break my neck either, so I don’t want to fight you.”
“I’m out too. I don’t want to fight someone who can crush swords.”
Wow, no one likes fighting with me and Yuika.
“I want to participate. It’s a rematch from last time. I’ve also learned how to guard against stomach hits.”
Pretend to hit the stomach and then collapse it with a liver blow instead.
“I wonder how many people are joining?”
“Maybe 10 or 20… or even fewer.”
Frank replied.
“Huh? So few?”
Yeah, really few.
“The Magic Tournament doesn’t span across grades. So, it’s just for the first-year students. Considering Tōko’s participation alone, the number of participants could decrease. Most of my class and Class C probably won’t join since they saw the duel with the president, and with the rumors spreading, Classes A and B might not participate either.”
“But Sharl won.”
“That’s true, but Tōko is a hybrid who excels in both magic and martial arts. She’s also nicknamed ‘Ice Princess,’ and she’s probably tougher than the president normally. The president’s magic was impressive, but she had clear weaknesses, so there are ways to defeat her.”
So, Sharl can’t handle close combat.
“Speaking of which, will Tōko participate?”
Cedric asked.
“I don’t know,”
Frank looked directly at Ilmera.
“Hmm? I haven’t heard anything. Noel, have you?”
“I haven’t either.”
“Recently, she’s been ranting about bears a lot,”
The three girls glanced at each other.
“Not really…”
Suddenly, Tōko’s voice was heard.
“Eh? Ah, Tōko. You’re still here? That’s unusual.”
The three girls turned around to see Tōko standing there with a faint smile.
“It’s not for the reason you think. Yuika, I haven’t been talking so much about bears.”
Though she’s in ‘young lady’ mode, I’m trying hard not to laugh.
“No, you’ve been talking about it a lot.”
“I have not.”
Tōko smiled brightly.
“Ah, Tōko, are you participating in the Magic Tournament?”
Ilmera asked.
“I’m still considering it.”
“Is that so? You have a good chance of winning.”
“I wonder… Anyway, let’s discuss this later. Nāgase.”
Tōko called my name and looked down at me.
“La Folle, what do you want?”
Don’t be talking to me in school.
“The principal asked me to let you know they’d like to see you in the office. They asked me to deliver the message when I saw you earlier outside.”
Principal, don’t ask Tōko to relay your messages.
“Ah, understood. I’ll go right away.”
With that, I stood up.
“The principal’s office? Did you do something?”
Frank asked.
“I don’t know. I’ll just check it out.”
“Then, we’ll head home too.”
Frank and Cedric also stood up, so we left the classroom together.
After parting ways with everyone, I headed to the principal’s office.
When I arrived at the principal’s office where I’d been with my mother before, I knocked on the door.
“Teacher, it’s Nāgase.”
“Please come in.”
The principal’s voice came through.
“Sorry for the intrusion.”
I opened the door and entered. There was the principal sitting at their desk and two women standing in front of it.
One was Sharl, and it made sense she’d be there after our previous conversation.
The other woman was Michelle, whom I had talked to at the park yesterday.
“Hello, Tsukasa. We meet again.”
Michelle smiled brightly.
“Hello.”
“Do you know each other, Tsukasa?”
Sharl asked.
“Uh… a member of the Dark Division. A senior to Andy.”
“Michelle Anvil.”
That’s right, don’t give away your last name. Sharl probably knows it.
“Anvil… a La Folle faction member…”
Of course…
Sharl’s smile turned sour.
Thank you very much for reading.
