A Basement-Dwelling Loser, the Inquisitor – Chapter 148

Week 3: War with the Heretics, Defeat.

Week 4: War with the Heretics, Also Defeat.

Well, there was no need to be too upset; it was quite obvious.

The Heretics had realized the absence of the Sirius Team since Week 2 and returned to war again.

It was, of course, a critical blow to our forces, as our most important elite fighters were missing.

Well, they said they could participate again next week, so it didn’t really matter.

As long as we achieve three victories out of five wars, our forces will ultimately claim victory anyway.

Of course, it would have been better if we managed to win somehow in Weeks 3 or 4 and end this war quickly.

Anyway, the most talked-about content in New Dimension right now is, of course, the war with the Heretics.

But if someone were to ask if there was absolutely no other content to enjoy in New Dimension, that would certainly not be the case.

(Original Connect System Explanation.webp)

Original Connect

Referred to as OC in system explanations.

Simply put, you can link skills + player movements to register as a system.

However, movements that are obviously impossible cannot be registered; a separate judgment is made by the system.

Example: A fierce charge straight ahead + burying into the enemy’s back.

Of course, the above example does connect skills, but still, such things are impossible.

If the system recognizes it as possible, it gets registered as a standalone skill, and damage seems to be measured separately by the system? Proficiency is fixed at M.

You can register a maximum of 3 OCs. If you want to create more, you must forfeit one of the existing OCs.

Usable in PvP and PK but obviously not in AOS.

In any case, if you use this well, you might be able to create skills you only imagined in your head?

But the problem is, it’s really hard. The judgment is super strict.

You cannot register simply by combining skill + skill; you must mix in player actions, and the required condition here is ‘movements that can be recognized as skills’…

If the speed is slow or the actions are unnatural, they will all be unregistrable.

I mean, how do you create movements that the system recognizes without system correction?

So far, I’ve failed every time.

They say it can also be done purely with player movements, but I doubt that’s possible?

Even just mixing in player movements with skills is super tough, let alone doing it purely with player movements.

Still, I think it’s good content to challenge. It should be fun, lol.

I hope pro gamers take this on.

If it’s Ga-eun, I bet she could handle it.

ㅇㅇ: Oh.

Head-Broken Priest: Mixing in player movements is the biggest hurdle.

Head-Broken Priest: I thought I moved as quickly as possible, but it said the action connection was unnatural, lol.

└Written by ㅇㅇ: For real; these jerks are way too strict with judgments.

Head-Broken Priest: But it definitely seems fun, haha.

New Dimension Master: I’m curious who will be the first to create it, lol.

└Written by ㅇㅇ: I think it’s probably Ga-eun.

New Dimension Master: Ga-eun is busy preparing for NAK right now, so it might be tough.

└Written by ㅇㅇ: That makes sense.

└Written by ㅇㅇ: It seems pretty impossible, so it might not come out until Ga-eun gives it a shot.

└ㅇㅇ2: Don’t forget our beast girl is still around…

└Written by ㅇㅇ: Oh my gosh.

New Dimension Master: Great Demon Rene.

Great Demon Rene: King God Rene.

└ㅇㅇ3: I really wish all those streamers would just go away.

New Dimension Master: The fact is, right now Rene <<< this beast girl is New Dimension itself, lol.

Immediately, the newly added system was stirring up all my interests.

Original connect, huh?

I could see it as a system prepared for players like me.

Naturally, in New Dimension, using skills to attack an opponent causes more damage than dealing physical attacks directly.

However, against opponents who are somewhat skilled in New Dimension, using skills recklessly would be a suicide mission.

Because of the unique delay and defined motions that come with using skills, it’s just as easy to counter.

That’s why, when facing players, the better they are, the more fundamental skills become crucial.

But to be able to register those fundamental skills and use them…

That means I could pull off a trick against my opponent depending on how I combine them.

Sure, the more a skill is known, the less significant it becomes, but that’s something I can handle with skill, and if all else fails, I can just create another one.

…No.

Honestly, I don’t care about that stuff.

Whether it’s a trick or whatever… What truly matters in this original connect is not that.

That I can use the movements I’ve always imagined as actual skills?

…That’s so cool.

Yeah. Ultimately, that’s what mattered most.

[Let’s Create Skills with Original Connect]

– Wow, here we go, lol.

– The moment they started talking about Original Connect, the Rene fans waiting for the stream must be going wild, haha.

– Let’s show them why she’s the beast, ㅇㅇ.

– Has anyone created an Original Connect yet?

– Including overseas, none so far.

– Going for the first one, lol.

– But seriously, it was super hard; if you mess up a little, the system just shuts you down.

– Well, if they didn’t have that, anyone could create something willy-nilly, so it can’t be helped.

In the chat, the most discussed topic was definitely Original Connect.

Of course, since I had announced beforehand that I would be creating Original Connect during the stream, that was to be expected.

“Hello everyone…”

– Let’s dive straight in, lol.

– Do you have something in mind?

– There’s no way the host would have any thoughts prepared; let’s drop that bad talk.

Right now, I was standing in the space provided for creating Original Connect.

The field was set to my favorite PvP field, ‘Adventurer’s Plain,’ and various buttons needed to create OC appeared on the top left of the screen.

“Of course, I have something in mind… Honestly, I’ve fiddled with it a bit by myself.”

And what I found out was that Original Connect doesn’t necessarily have to be a skill.

To be precise, what matters is not linking skills and player actions, but linking actions that receive system judgments to player actions.

For some reason, there was no skill mentioned in the name.

“So I’ve prepared this so far…”

As I said that, I clicked the ‘Play’ button.

Pababababababak!

At that moment, a pure white effect burst forth, and numerous weapons stuck into the ground around me as decorative pieces.

– ????

– What is that???

– Was there such a skill?

– How did you do that?

– That effect comes out when you drop gear, right?

“Um… Yes. Some people guessed it in the chat; when you drop equipped gear in the field, this effect comes out, and it falls around you… I just repeated that continuously… See, it doesn’t have to be a skill; as long as it’s an action that triggers a system judgment, everything’s fine…”

What I imagined was simple.

Using those scattered weapons to implement different tactics based on the situation.

Then, the opponent wouldn’t adapt to the attack, giving me the psychological edge, and I could respond differently based on the weapon my opponent used.

In fact, the original regulation states that if you drop your gear like this, it should normally be useable by the opponent. But since it’s a system judgment for using Original Connect, perhaps due to that, the weapons stuck in the ground were being judged as belonging to me.

…Well, it’s probably a loophole in the system.

But wouldn’t it be patched soon?

“I’ve also pre-decided on the name for the skill I’ll create with this Original Connect…”

With countless weapons stuck around me, I could respond to any situation and create numerous attack patterns.

The number would be nearly infinite.

Infinite attacks created with countless weapons.

In short…

“Infinitely Unbounded…!”

– Whoa, that name is not allowed.

– Are you out of your mind, lol.

– Your Honor, I swear I know nothing about it.

Regrettably, my brilliant Original Connect, Infinitely Unbounded, ended in failure.

There was intense opposition in the chat for some reason, but that wasn’t particularly important.

The biggest issue was that the movement I imagined was too fluid.

Using a skill naturally fixes the player’s movement.

When you use a fierce charge, you can only thrust your weapon forward, hunching over, and dashing ahead.

During the motion of the skill, no matter what you do, you cannot take any other action.

Yet the movement of my Infinitely Unbounded, where changing movements depending on the situation was crucial.

So the system probably couldn’t recognize it as a skill.

It kept changing the movements, after all.

“That’s too bad…”

– Lol.

– Did you really think that was gonna work out, wtf.

I genuinely thought it was perfect…

My Original Connect skill, Infinitely Unbounded… Farewell…
