I didn’t plan to play like this from the start. Honestly, it was purely by chance that I ended up playing this way.
Considering I’m a total FPS beginner, I thought it would be impossible to make any impact in the tournament with just regular gameplay.
During the tutorial, I discovered the Parrying System while checking out weapon abilities. I figured, “Maybe this system suits me better?” And that’s how I made my decision.
From then on, I practiced parrying using the sandbag’s attack function. As I kept at it, I started feeling confident enough to practice it in regular games. Plus, the character I chose, Lina, fit this playstyle perfectly, which was great.
But is this playstyle flawless? Not really. Parrying is only useful when you know the enemy is attacking you.
For example, when I’m handling one enemy while my teammates take care of the other two. If my teammates lose and suddenly bullets start raining from all directions, this method becomes too hard to manage.
To cover this weakness, I prepared the .50 Caliber Sniper Rifle, Reaper. Excluding some fancy-sounding supply weapons, Reaper has the highest damage. Combined with Lina’s passive ability to target weak points, it can obliterate over 90% of HP in one shot.
However, its low fire rate means it can’t kill in one go, and some say it doesn’t suit Lina’s fast mobility. But I thought differently.
First, confirm the enemy’s position. Then, move to a spot where all enemies are in a straight line with me.
Next, snipe the most important target’s head. If I hit the head, all eyes will naturally turn to me. Knowing they’ll die with one more shot, they’ll prioritize taking me down.
Once all their attention is on me, I can steer the flow of the game as I planned.
[Rene! I really believed in you!!!]
[This actually works in the tournament too.]
And the results proved it. This team was definitely one of the top contenders for the championship. And we took them down.
[Wow, but how do you really do it? Honestly, after seeing Rene do it for the first time, I tried it a few times myself. I failed every time. I even managed to deflect a few times by wildly swinging, but that’s not parrying, right?]
[I tried it too, but I couldn’t do it. For me, as soon as I hear the gunshot, it feels like the bullet’s already hit me.]
[Exactly! That’s the feeling!]
“Well… when you shoot, the bullet goes ‘whoosh!’ right? And if you go ‘whack!’ it gets deflected.”
It was definitely hard to react without full concentration.
But in that world, there are heretics who use magic faster than bullets… Of course, it’s impossible to parry everything when multiple enemies attack simultaneously, but even if you get hit, you don’t die, so whatever.
Even if you die, it’s not like you really die.
[Huh? What do you mean…]
[I see. I thought from the start that Rene must have her own unique method. It might be a bit hard for us to follow.]
[Tuni? How did you understand that…]
[Shall we move to the next location? Or maybe we could hold a siege here.]
[Tuni?]
[I’ll explain later…]

And so, the tournament progressed.
The team “Repent,” which received countless mocking nicknames like “Definitely 20th place” and “Bottom feeders,” ended up in first place in the first round.
[Kyaaaa!!! Rene! Tuni! We did it! 1st place! We’re really in 1st place!!!]
[I didn’t think this would actually work, thank you for believing in me…]
[We’re teammates, so believing in each other is natural. Anyway, we’re 1st this round. But let’s stay focused and keep it up for the next round. We need to show what an underdog’s rebellion really looks like.]
It was an undeniable, rightful 1st place.
“Twist! A major twist! I didn’t want to say this, but… the ‘Repent’ team was clearly considered a lower-tier team. But against all expectations, they proudly secured 1st place! Just as they said, it’s an underdog’s rebellion!”
“Rene’s parrying play was impactful, but Tuni and Eri’s support was equally impressive. Looking closely, their understanding of Bloody Night 2 was quite high. The oil lake area they chose initially is advantageous for sieges because the entry points are limited. This means they could restrict the enemy’s attack routes. They seemed to test whether Rene’s playstyle would work in such an area. Once they confirmed it did, they immediately moved to another location. It’s clear they had a solid strategy.”
The excited Yuki and Rain continued their commentary, and the viewers also showered praise on the “Repent” team.
The universally acknowledged weakest team’s 1st place in the first round. The overwhelming impact of a team that seemed to have no practice during the preparation period. It was truly an underdog’s overwhelming rebellion, and such moments always ignite the public’s enthusiasm and support.
“…Ah.”
Thinking about it, that play had its weaknesses…
Thanks to that, Izumi’s voice, who was checking the replay next to me, was quietly buried under the wave of cheers they created.
And so, the 2nd round went on.
“Ah… Team ‘Repent’! With Rene being the last to fall, they finish the 2nd round in 9th place!”
“Wasn’t Tsubasa from Team ‘Bakacat!’ sharp?”
Team ‘Repent’ lost to Team ‘Bakacat?!’ who appeared as if seeking revenge from the previous round, ending up in 9th place.
Even in the final 3rd round, they lost early to Team ‘Bakacat?!’ and recorded a 16th place finish, concluding the tournament with a final rank of 6th.
“6th place goes to Team ‘Repent’, who showed overwhelming performance in the first round.”
“In the first round, they definitely showed us that ‘Such plays are possible in Bloody Night 2!’ But it’s a bit disappointing that their victory plan was only one.”
“Come to think of it, didn’t Izumi say she thought about trying Rene’s play?”
“Ah, yes… But then I also thought about some weaknesses, and I was able to confirm them too…”
“What kind of weaknesses are we talking about?”
At Yuki’s question, Izumi began to explain the weaknesses.
“F-first, the more teams around, the harder it is for Rene to perform, right…?”
Using the .50 Caliber Sniper Rifle, Reaper, to focus the enemy’s attention, what if there were other teams waiting around?
At that moment, it was natural for gunfire to pour in from all directions.
The Reaper was necessary to focus the enemy’s attention, but that was only effective when there was one opposing team around.
Team ‘Bakacat?!’ immediately grasped that fact after their first encounter.
“And second, to take down the opponent, Rene eventually has to get close to them…”
Parrying the opponent’s bullets itself was definitely an effective strategy.
But Bloody Night 2 is ultimately a game where you have to defeat the enemy to win.
When approaching the opponent for that, what if the target’s teammates were waiting at a distance for Rene to come in?
The moment Rene comes in, all attacks would pour onto her alone.
“There were other weaknesses I thought of, but the biggest ones were these two… But personally, I think… isn’t it more that Team ‘Bakacat?!’ is amazing for figuring out all those weaknesses in such a short time…?”

[Isn’t it amazing that Team ‘Bakacat?!’ figured out all those weaknesses in such a short time…?]
[I think so too. They’re truly the champions… no, they’re the champion team.]
I definitely knew about those weaknesses too.
But there wasn’t enough time to realize them and rethink our playstyle.
Using a weapon other than the sniper rifle.
Or changing the champion.
When I first thought of those weaknesses, I considered those methods, but then other weaknesses came to mind.
If we had a bit more time, we could have done better.
“I’m sorry… If I had done a bit better, we could have won, I’m sorry…”
Naturally, that apology flowed out of my mouth.
I felt so sorry to Tuni and Eri, who couldn’t even practice properly because of me.
If their team wasn’t me, they definitely could have achieved better results…
[What?! No, Rene! Thanks to you, we managed to get 6th place!]
[That’s right. Don’t you remember how it was at the beginning? We were sure to be 20th. The team that came to hit rock bottom. Terrible and not even practicing. We needed luck to even finish one round in 15th place. That’s all we heard, right? But we got 6th. That’s a success.]
Can I really think that way?
But in the end, we failed to win, and those who said we were a team that didn’t even practice properly…
─Is the streamer really going to cheat today? Are you crazy???
─Rene, I’m downloading Bloody Night 2 right now lol lol lol I’m going to practice parrying, everyone’s doomed lol
─This is really because the winning team was just so good;; Except for the first round when they got wrecked by the streamer, they had no crisis situations at all;
─First of all, Tsubasa <<< She's aiming for the top in Bloody Night, even Night Raid, and if she won head-on, isn't that practically a win?
─I'm a new viewer, what exactly does this person do?
─Our proud bear girl ㅠㅠㅠ
─Hello, I'm Japanese. Today, I was moved by your play. Please continue with good broadcasts in the future.
"Ah..."
[Then we can't leave this out, right? Excluding the winning team, which team was the best in today's General Assembly?!]
[...Actually, I think this was decided in the first round. Team 'Repent', who truly showed what an underdog's rebellion is!]
Thank goodness...
