Chapter 01: Come With Me
“Is this the Time and Space Stone? Doesn’t look like much.”
Lin Nuo had single-handedly breached the Abyss Valley, defeating countless ghostly fiends, and finally obtained the legendary Time and Space Stone.
However, it looked quite ordinary, completely lacking the mystery rumored about it.
“Alright, how do I activate this? There must be some kind of incantation?”
Lin Nuo recalled something about incantations from his readings, but his attempts were unsuccessful.
Then a question struck him: if the Time and Space Stone were real, and people had been transported away, who recorded the incantation?
Oh, right! Someone must have traveled to the past and written it down.
Well, that’s useless! It’s not working anyway.
While Lin Nuo was pondering the possibility of it being a fake, a shining light suddenly illuminated before him, followed by a blinding whiteness where he could see nothing.
“What does this mean?”
Lin Nuo muttered sarcastically, when suddenly a strange voice echoed:
“Human, you have called for me. What is your request?”
“Who are you?” Lin Nuo retorted.
“I am the spirit residing within the Time and Space Stone. Now, I can transport you to the past you desire.”
“The legends are true? So I can actually go back to the past?”
“Yes, but once you step into the cycle of time, you cannot return. Moreover, this is only theoretical; there’s a certain probability of failure. You may not arrive at your desired time, or you might move forward, or backward, or even get lost in the cycle.”
“Please send me back, I beg you.”
Lin Nuo didn’t hesitate much, immediately making his plea because he had regrets to make up for, even if it meant risking his life.
“Alright, I understand.”
The spirit within the Time and Space Stone sensed Lin Nuo’s wish, and suddenly, the white light intensified, blinding his eyes.
Soon after, the white light began to fade, revealing a gloomy valley path before him.
“Ouch, it hurts…”
At that moment, pain coursed through Lin Nuo’s body, stirring memories of his past escape while injured.
“If I’m not mistaken, I must have successfully made the transport.”
Lin Nuo looked at his own body; he bore heavy injuries, and the black battle robe draped over him was tattered, clearly having just gone through a fierce battle.
His wish was answered; he was back.
Yes, in his past life, fleeing through the deep valley.
Next was the last time he would meet Ruo’er, the moment he died without seeing her again.
“We should be close now.”
Lin Nuo pressed on, clutching his wound. He wasn’t at his peak anymore and couldn’t handle the pursuit of multiple Immortals.
“Sure enough.”
Before long, a graceful figure appeared at the end of the path, a fox fairy from Zifeng Valley, waiting for him.
Lin Nuo halted, staring at the stunningly beautiful fox fairy.
He couldn’t believe he had the chance to see her again.
To amend his regrets, he had believed the legends that the Time and Space Stone could bring him back; he had only dared to try it, never expecting it would actually work.
The heavy aura of the fairy pressed upon him, making Lin Nuo slightly uncomfortable, but he managed to endure.
What was the line again?
Oh right.
“Fox fairy? Heh, it’s you.”
Lin Nuo repeated the line from his past. The fox fairy’s tender gaze fell upon his bruised figure, filled with compassion, yet they were enemies now, separated by the realms of Immortal and Demon.
The fox fairy didn’t attack him but softly uttered two words:
“Young Master…”
Hearing those words, Lin Nuo’s heart ached, memories of unbearable past surged in his mind.
Every Immortal wished for her death, but she had always sincerely referred to him as “Young Master.” Alas, back then, he had left without a word, and she hadn’t ended well.
So this time, he had to seize the chance.
“Then, are you here to kill me or capture me?”
Lin Nuo tried to gauge her intentions, confirming whether he had indeed returned to that time.
“No, I am not here to kill or capture the Young Master…”
The fox fairy stepped aside for him,
“They know I would specifically guard this spot, so they won’t send anyone else to intercept you. Young Master, quickly leave; otherwise, the pursuers will catch up.”
Despite knowing the outcome, Lin Nuo was still stunned. After all, he found it hard to believe that Ruo’er, who had no ties to him, would let him go.
Lin Nuo sheathed his sword and dragged his injured body, slowly passing by Ruo’er.
However, he stopped just two steps away from her.
“I have something I want to request you.”
“Young Master, what is it? If I can, I will help you.” Ruo’er responded.
“Come with me.”
“Uh?”
Ruo’er was astonished; she never expected Lin Nuo to make such a request.
“Where… where are we going?”
“To find a place, just the two of us, to hide away from the world’s turmoil and live a simple life,” Lin Nuo declared seriously.
“This…”
Ruo’er couldn’t believe it; a ruthless demon who had vowed revenge and to slaughter Immortals was now talking about retreating?
“Young Master, why?”
“Because I don’t want to live this life of fleeing and killing anymore.”
“Even so, why me…?” Ruo’er was puzzled. If he wanted to retreat, it would be safest for Lin Nuo to go alone. If he wanted to hide, they would have a harder time finding him, but taking her along would only expose his position.
“It’s simple—because I like you.”
Lin Nuo unabashedly confessed his feelings before Ruo’er.
“Ah…! This…”
Ruo’er was suddenly at a loss. What was happening? Why would the Young Master say such things to her!
Impossible, right? A cold-hearted demon could never have such romantic feelings! Besides, they only had a master-servant relationship before!
She felt she had nothing worthy of his affection—weak, and an opposing Immortal. Why would he be drawn to her?
“Young Master, you’re just joking, right?”
“I’m not joking; I mean it. Of course, if you don’t have feelings for me, that’s fine. I will make you fall for me.”
“This… Young Master, I can’t go with you. Letting you go is already a crime; if I escape again, it would be an even graver sin. I don’t regret letting the Young Master leave; I’m willing to bear that responsibility. I appreciate your kindness; I must return and confess to the elders of Zifeng Valley.”
Ruo’er firmly rejected Lin Nuo’s request. She could not just walk away, even if it meant returning to face punishment.
“What if they sentence you to death?” Lin Nuo asked.
“I stand by my decision; I will accept the punishment willingly.”
“They’ve definitely brainwashed you. Alright, fine, I’m not really expecting you to agree.”
Lin Nuo had prepared for this; although heavily injured, he had learned some wicked skills after his rebirth, more than enough to handle Ruo’er.
In an instant, Lin Nuo extended his right palm, a wave of Demon Qi surged toward Ruo’er’s body.
“Ah, what… why is my body going numb…”
“Apologies, but today, I definitely must take you with me.”
Lin Nuo promptly scooped Ruo’er into his arms; this time, he wouldn’t let her fall into the hands of Zifeng Valley.
