Fable. What is a fable? A story from the dreamlike world of bizarre and creative imagination that sometimes imparts lessons to children. Stories like the Mermaid Princess, Cinderella, Snow White, Peter Pan, and so many others. Beautiful tales that stir the hearts of kids.
My start felt just like a fable too. Yeah, kinda like Alice in Wonderland. As a high schooler, I was heading home while watching the fading sunset when, outta nowhere, I came face-to-face with a black rabbit wearing a dark hat and cloak.
The dude hopped up the mountain, and his totally weird getup triggered my Curiosity. I couldn’t help but follow.
It was as if the rabbit waited for me whenever I got tired before hopping off again, like inviting me closer. The thrill reminded me of the long-forgotten excitement and nostalgia of fairy tales. It felt like I had become Alice herself.
So I chased after it, brimming with nostalgia, feeling like a kid again—full of joy and anticipation.
When I finally reached where the rabbit led me, I found an enormous ancient tree.
Its presence was so majestic, you could tell it had stood there for centuries. While inspecting it, I noticed the rabbit was gone.
Thinking it might be hiding somewhere, I looked around and spotted a rabbit hole beneath the tree. As I leaned in to check it out…
I was suddenly attacked!
Something kicked my b*tt, and I got sucked into the hole like being pulled by some force. Right before falling, all I saw was the black rabbit giggling at the entrance.
“AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!”
What the heck! Who are you! What is this?! I kept plummeting endlessly. This rabbit hole was way deeper than expected. But seriously, can anyone fall for over ten minutes?!
“How long am I gonna keep falling, AAAAAAAH!”
Plus, it was pitch black, no light at all, so I had no idea what was going on. Thoughts crept in about how long I’d keep falling—and whether I’d d*e upon hitting the ground.
Just as those thoughts crossed my mind, a blinding light burst beneath my feet.
“KYAAAH!”
Shielding my eyes with my arms, I suddenly felt a soft cushion under my b*tt and warm light through my eyelids.
Opening my eyes, I realized I’d arrived somewhere strange—a place where flowers and grass towered over me as if I’d shrunk. Where have I seen this before?
“Move! Get outta the way! Outta my way!!”
Then someone shouted beneath me. Startled, I jumped up to find a brown cat, the size of my body, terrified out of its wits.
Surprisingly, the cat spoke with vertical pupils, anxiously scanning the surroundings before running away and yelling,
“What’re you standing there for?! Run if you wanna live! She’s coming! Crazy Elise is here! If you don’t wanna d*e like the Mad Hatter, RUN!!”
“Huh? Elise? Mad Hatter? Talking cat?”
I froze, utterly confused.
“RUN! AAAHHHH! Save me!!”
“KIKIKIKIKIKIK! Don’t wanna become chopped meat!!!”
Suddenly, from behind, a talking mouse and rabbit sprinted past, sweating buckets. They wore clothes, spoke like humans, and were absolutely terrified as they fled.
“What’s going on? What’s happening here?”
Hesitating for a moment, I decided to join their escape since something terrifying seemed to be chasing them. Just as I was about to run…
“Ow!”
SPLAT! Something squishy landed on my face and leaped off. Burning pain shot through my cheeks as I glared furiously to see who did it.
“Whistle whistle~”
It was the black rabbit whistling happily—the one who lured me here. He grinned mischievously when our eyes met, then bolted off.
“Hey! Wait! You there! Stop!”
Instinctively compelled to catch him, I took off. The lush grass made me feel like I’d shrunk, and the black rabbit zigzagged ahead.
“Wait! Rabbit! Tell me how to get home! Don’t run!”
His speed was insane, like a cheetah’s—way beyond human capability. In a flash, he disappeared from sight. Just like that, the rabbit who came and went like the wind left me stranded in the dense foliage, clueless about my location. Panting heavily, I wiped the sweat from my face.
“Geez, how can he be so fast.”
“Rabbit?”
Suddenly, a face peeked out from the nearby bushes.
“YIKES!”
Startled, I fell flat on my b*tt. The thing that scared me started laughing. It wasn’t an animal—it was a girl my age with beautiful golden hair, big round eyes, and cherry lips. But her eyes…
They gleamed with unsettling madness.
“KEHEHEH! You fell for it easily! You said ‘rabbit,’ right? HAHAHAHA! Finally found it! Thanks, you’re awesome, rabbit!”
As she spoke, I instinctively nodded. Then she flashed a chilling smile and stepped out of the bushes.
She wore a dress with blue shoulders and outer parts, white in the middle—resembling a maid uniform.
I couldn’t help but feel terrified.
Why?
Because her dress was splattered with bl**d. At first glance, I didn’t notice, but seeing the white part dyed crimson sent shivers down my spine.
In her right hand, she held a Staff that could crush bones and pierce bodies with one hit. In her other hand lay a bloody dead Guard.
“HAHAHAHA! So you saw the rabbit, huh? KEKEKEKE! Finally found it! Nice to meet you, I’m Elise!”
Guards. A familiar world. Talking animals. And this girl named Elise dressed in a recognizable outfit.
Could it be… Alice in Wonderland? But something’s off. Why is Elise like this? Why is she a psycho Murderer?! The animals ran because of her, 100%.
The genre seems to have taken a dark turn, but stay calm. This girl is clearly a lunatic who’d k*ll you without hesitation if you piss her off. Got to flatter her and not upset her emotions!
I forced a gentle smile.
“Oh, uh, hi! I’m Siyoo.”
“Siyoo? Hmm? Siyoo. Yeah, nice name. I’ll remember it, Siyoo. So…”
She dropped the cold corpse and the Staff she used to brutally m*rder him, then dashed over and grabbed my hand with her bl**d-soaked one.
“Where is it?! The rabbit! Where is it?! That d*mn white rabbit needs to be caught and beaten by me!”
Her mad gaze pierced into mine, making my heart race. The feel of her bl**d on my hand was horrifying—I wanted to run away immediately. With steam practically puffing from her nose, she pressured me to answer.
“That rabbit I was chasing disappeared forward.”
I pointed in the direction the rabbit vanished while forcing a smile.
“KEKEKEKEKE! Found a lead! Thank you, thank you so much!”
“CHOK!”
She hugged me tightly. Though she looked delicate like an idol, she possessed monstrous strength, and her embrace felt like it could crush bones. I endured the excruciating pain and quickly spoke.
“But it was a black rabbit!”
“WHAT?”
THUD. Freed from her deadly hug, I collapsed to the ground. Elise looked bewildered.
“Black rabbit? Not a white rabbit?! BLACK RABBIT!!! BLACK RABBIT!!!”
She became extremely agitated, suddenly grabbing her Staff and raising it above her head, smashing the already dead Guard’s body violently.
She’s lost it. Totally lost it! Gotta get outta here! I need to RUN!
My heart pounded wildly, signaling urgency. My entire body tingled with fear.
“I need the WHITE rabbit! I NEED THE WHITE ONE! WHITE!!!”
CRASH, CRASH! The Guard’s paper-thin body tore apart, bl**d splattering everywhere. I carefully moved my legs, eyeing her erratic state. Instead of bolting all at once, I’ll back away slowly and then run when far enough.
I can do this! I CAN DO THIS!
Holding my breath, I slowly distanced myself from her, slipping into the bushes. Just as I began to relax…
“Wait a sec? Black rabbit? Black rabbit? Black rabbit?! Oh? HAHA! KEKEKEKEKE! What luck! Siyoo! You mean… hmm?”
She suddenly rambled nonsense, then noticed I was gone and twisted her neck grotesquely to search for me.
At that instant, I sprinted like crazy. Screwed up. Totally screwed up!!! Why does she regain sanity NOW?! I gotta run! Must RUN!!!
“KEKEKEKEKE! Playing hide-and-seek with me now?!”
While fleeing at full speed, her creepy voice echoed behind me, followed by an unrealistically fast, chilling sound of pursuit.
