We descended the hill and entered Building D.
The interior of the school building had a Western atmosphere and was quite clean.
It was far from what I was used to at the middle school I attended until recently.
“Is this building new?”
It didn’t seem newly constructed…
“Last year, there was a building renovation. The magic academy has a lot of alumni, so it receives plenty of donations.”
Cedric informed me.
“Hmm…”
Does my family donate? La Folle probably does, given that they could get me in through the back door.
“Our classroom is over there.”
Frank pointed to the door right in front of us.
“Alright, let’s go.”
I walked forward and opened the door.
However, there were only about ten people inside the classroom.
One person was sitting in the implausible position of the front row, resting their cheek on their hand—it was my sister, Toko.
Toko glanced at me for a moment, then quickly looked forward with an expression of disinterest.
“Cedric, Frank, head to the back.”
“Alright, sure.”
“Don’t laugh at me—I have no intention of studying.”
I looked around at my classmates, aside from Toko, and made my way to the back row.
When I sat in the very last seat, Cedric and Frank sat beside me.
“Isn’t this a bit sparse? I heard there were about thirty students…
There are barely more than ten of us, including us?
“It’s because of the foundational studies… and it’s the first class in the morning.”
“Class D has 28 students, but 10 of them are adults who’ve already graduated. They’ve likely completed their foundational courses.”
Is that so…
“Are you two doing foundational studies?”
“Yeah. It’s the most important one.”
Of course.
Maybe these guys are top students?
…Huh?
As I was impressed by the two of them, two girls sitting at the front came walking over to us.
One had fiery red hair and a strong-willed look, and the other exuded a kind aura. Naturally, both were wearing uniforms.
“Hey, Frank, who’s he?”
The redhead asked Frank.
“You could at least say good morning.”
“Good morning. So?”
Maybe she’s a delinquent?
“New student. Starting today.”
“Hmm…”
The redhead gave me an intense look.
“Nice to meet you.”
I tried greeting her.
“Nice to meet you too… though you seem kind of stupid.”
That’s rude.
“Spot on.”
“You have a good eye for people.”
Cedric and Frank seemed impressed.
“Hey, that’s rude!”
“Do you know the capital of England?”
Cedric grinned as he asked.
“No.”
“There you go.”
“Whether I’m stupid or not doesn’t matter. If I called you an annoyingly smug guy, would you get mad?”
“No, I heard it already…”
Did I?
“Have you guys already gotten along so well?”
“I’m friendly, you know.”
“All mankind is my brother.”
“Hmm… I’m Ilmera. Ilmera Henselt.”
“And I’m Noel. Noel Antoinette.”
The red-haired girl and the brunette introduced themselves.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Nagase Tsukasa. Nagase is my last name.”
“Are you by any chance the same nationality as Yuika?”
“I haven’t met this Yuika, but apparently yes.”
In this classroom, apart from me and Toko, there don’t seem to be any other Japanese students.
“Hmm… You should look out for your own countrymen.”
“I heard the same thing from Frank yesterday… are there really rules like that among wizards?”
“That’s normal, right? I’m from Germany like Frank, but I still keep an eye out. Though, even among people from the same country, there are those who don’t get along well…”
As Ilmera said that, she glanced at Noel, who then looked a little troubled.
“It’s not like we don’t get along that much…”
“Whom don’t you get along with?”
“The student council president.”
“ILMERA! That’s not true at all!”
When Ilmera stated it categorically, Noel quickly tried to dissuade her.
“Hmm…”
Eh…
Is Sharl really that much of a troublemaker?
I hadn’t thought of her like that at all.
“Anyway, you should be careful since there are all sorts of families involved. I don’t know much about Japanese wizard families, but you should be careful too.”
You should be careful, indeed.
Anyway, I’m technically someone from La Folle.
“So where’s this fellow countryman Yuika you mentioned?”
She’s nowhere in sight…
“She’s sleeping.”
“I tried waking her, but she said she wasn’t feeling well.”
The worried expressions on both their faces made me wonder if Yuika is more the troublemaker here. Is she okay?
After chatting a little more, the two girls returned to their seats at the front.
“You and Ilmera are from the same place?”
When they left, I lowered my tone and asked Frank.
“Sure. She’s the type who speaks her mind, but she’s reliable, so don’t think ill of her.”
It seems their words about valuing fellow countrymen were true, as Frank backed them up.
“Eh, I don’t really mind. The other one was impressive though.”
“I understand what you mean, even if you don’t want to say it.”
Noel was generally slender, but her chest was quite large.
Yesterday, I thought Sharl had a good figure, but Noel’s was bigger.
I was impressed by Westerners!
“Still, is the student council president really that much of a troublemaker?”
“Nah, it’s not like she’s a troublemaker. In fact, she’s a top student.”
“Well, she did become the student council president.”
Yeah, that makes sense.
“Isn’t Noel good friends with her?”
“The student council president comes from one of the most prestigious families and is their successor. Consequently, she’s full of pride, and that leads to conflicts with others.”
Pride…
I only saw her as clumsy…
“Hmm…”
“Anyway, it’s another class. But there’s someone similar in our class too.”
Someone similar?
“Hmm?”
When I asked, Frank leaned in closer.
“…See the black-haired girl sitting in the front?”
I see her.
The girl resting her cheek on her hand.
She’s the same age as me.
“Huh?”
“Don’t point… She’s from another prestigious family in France—La Folle. She’s also the student council president’s rival and the ‘Ice Princess’ I mentioned yesterday.”
Haha…
“Ha… ha… ha ha ha…”
Unable to hold back, I started laughing, and the students near the front looked at me. But they quickly lost interest and turned back to the front.
“Hey, don’t laugh.”
“Was it that funny?”
The two of them looked bewildered.
“Sorry… just for a second.”
She’s the Ice Princess?!
That’s hilarious!
I’m going to tease her about it later!
