Chapter 100: Poking the Hornet’s Nest

After completing all the procedures, three cars slowly drove through the base gate.

Finding someone in such a large base is no easy task, but for Xiang Xu, it was a piece of cake.

Xiang Xu was diligent. After her recent failures with her Spiritual Power, she was slightly discouraged, but instead of giving up, it fueled her determination. Her daily high-intensity Spiritual Power training was grueling, but her stubbornness and persistence paid off, and her control over her Spiritual Power improved at an astonishing rate.

She had little fondness for Zhou Jian and his gang, who had been kicked out. When they spread the news about Gu Ning’s Space System Special Ability, putting her in danger, Xiang Xu was furious. She used her Spiritual Power to cover most of the base and found Zhou Jian in less than ten minutes.

Initially, they were unsure if Zhou Jian was the one who leaked the information, but after seeing the unnatural expressions on their faces, all doubts vanished. Under Xiang Yi’s interrogation, Zhou Jian refused to talk, but the other kids spilled everything.

Xiang Yi relayed Hong Jie’s words to Zhou Jian, who turned pale with fear. Zhou Jian never expected the always-smiling Aunt Hong to be so ruthless.

He tried to run but was quickly caught by Xiang Yi and pinned to the ground. Despite being only thirteen, Zhou Jian had grown strong in the post-apocalyptic world. He struggled fiercely, even managing to headbutt Xiang Yi, who couldn’t hold him down.

The other kids stood frozen, unsure of what to do. Xiang Xu, mindful of Hong Jie’s warning to only break his legs, didn’t dare use her Spiritual Power recklessly, as killing was strictly prohibited in the base.

Seeing Zhou Jian trying to escape, Xiang Yi chased after him, swinging an iron rod to hit his legs. But before the rod could connect, Xiang Xu screamed, “Brother, watch out!”

A massive fireball hurtled towards Xiang Yi at incredible speed! He had no time to react! With a loud bang, the fireball hit him, sending sparks flying everywhere! The onlookers screamed and scattered.

As the flames died down, the woman who had launched the fireball gasped in surprise. Xiang Yi stood unharmed, and a little girl glared at her angrily.

Xiang Xu was furious. If she hadn’t reacted quickly and raised a Spiritual Power barrier, Xiang Yi would have been a charred corpse by now!

Zhou Jian, who had just gotten up, stared in shock at the Fire-type Special Ability user and cried out, “Sister?!”

Xiang Xu and Xiang Yi were equally stunned, looking at the young woman who had just attacked them.

“Sister! You’re alive!” Zhou Jian ran over and hugged the woman, who appeared to be in her early twenties.

The woman gently patted Zhou Jian’s head, her expression softening.

Meanwhile, about ten people got out of the three parked cars, curious about Zhou Jian. “Zhou Yan, is this your brother?” one of them asked.

A young man chuckled, “You’re lucky! You found your brother right away!”

Another young man glanced at Xiang Yi and Xiang Xu with a sly grin, “And just in time too.”

Zhou Yan’s eyes hardened again. She had been searching for Zhou Jian since the apocalypse began, and now that they were reunited, she saw him being chased and beaten. Thinking of the hardships her beloved little brother must have endured over the past four months, she wanted to kill Xiang Yi on the spot.

Zhou Yan asked Zhou Jian, “How do you want to deal with these two?”

Zhou Jian stepped out of Zhou Yan’s embrace, glaring at Xiang Xu and Xiang Yi with a mix of triumph and malice. “I want them dead!” he spat.

The leader of the group spoke up, “You can do whatever you want with the boy, but leave the girl. She managed to block your attack with her Spiritual Power. She’s interesting.”

Xiang Xu, with her keen Spiritual Power, immediately sensed that everyone in this group had Special Abilities. Hearing their conversation, she was terrified but kept her composure. She whispered to Xiang Yi, “Brother, run!” and grabbed his hand, turning to flee.

They hadn’t run far when the group of Special Ability users, who had been chatting amiably moments ago, suddenly appeared in front of them, still smiling. “You can’t escape,” one of them said.

Xiang Xu’s eyes narrowed. “Brother, go warn Gu Ning and the others! I’ll hold them off!”

The Speed Special Ability user laughed, “Haha! Little girl, you’ve got some nerve!”

“Go!” Xiang Xu shouted at Xiang Yi, then unleashed her Spiritual Power. Her daily training had been focused on using Spiritual Power to kill, and now, invisible sharp spikes formed and shot towards the Speed Special Ability user, while the rest circled around to attack the others.

“Such powerful Spiritual Power! Guo Qiang, be careful!” a woman in the group shouted, releasing her own Spiritual Power. If Spiritual Power were visible, it would be clear that Xiang Xu’s output was nearly double hers.

Guo Qiang, the Speed Special Ability user, tried to retreat, but he was too slow. A searing pain, as if thousands of needles had pierced his skull, overwhelmed him, and he collapsed, screaming in agony.

The group’s expressions changed as Guo Qiang fell, writhing in pain.

Xiang Yi knew he couldn’t help Xiang Xu by staying. His priority was to warn the others. He turned and ran towards the dormitory building.

“Trying to run?” A young man stepped forward, stomping his foot, and a vine shot out, wrapping around Xiang Yi’s ankle and yanking him to the ground. Xiang Yi’s chin hit the concrete, and he cried out in pain, blood filling his mouth as the vine dragged him back.

Suddenly, someone grabbed Xiang Yi’s hand and pulled hard. It was Zuo You! Zuo You strained against the vine’s force, while Wu Sen crouched beside Xiang Yi, quickly cutting the vine with a small knife.

Wu Sen whispered, “Xiang Yi, He He has gone to warn the others!”

Xiang Xu’s Spiritual Power attack had only succeeded against Guo Qiang. The rest were blocked by the group’s Psychic System Special Ability user.

Xiang Xu formed a massive Spiritual Power barrier three meters in front of her. The Psychic System Special Ability user tested it and was shocked to find that Xiang Xu’s barrier remained intact even after a full-force attack. How could a seven or eight-year-old girl possess such immense Spiritual Power? It defied belief.

“Stop wasting time, attack with everything you’ve got! Let’s see how long she can hold out!” Zhou Yan commanded, launching a barrage of fireballs at Xiang Xu.

Xiang Xu spread her arms, controlling the barrier. The fireballs struck, causing the barrier to tremble. She increased her Spiritual Power output, pouring more energy into the barrier. But her expression was grim. She could feel the barrier weakening under the relentless assault, and her own Spiritual Power was depleting rapidly. She knew the barrier wouldn’t last much longer.

Meanwhile, the attackers were equally shocked. Despite their combined efforts, the little girl had held out for nearly a minute! And with Guo Qiang lying unconscious, the minute felt like an eternity.

Xiang Xu felt the last drop of her Spiritual Power drain away. The barrier shattered under the onslaught, and a massive fireball hurtled towards her, illuminating her pale face.

Xiang Yi, freed from the vine, turned and saw the fireball heading straight for Xiang Xu. Without her Spiritual Power, she was just an ordinary little girl. If nothing intervened, she would be obliterated. Xiang Yi’s eyes widened in desperation, “Xiang Xu!”

Wu Sen and Zuo You were frozen in horror, watching helplessly.

Xiang Xu felt the scorching heat and closed her eyes, trembling.

At that moment, a gust of wind rushed past Xiang Yi. He saw a blur of movement speeding towards Xiang Xu. He held his breath.

“Boom!” The fireball hit the ground, sending sparks flying.

But Xiang Xu was no longer there. Five meters away, Fang Fa had crashed into a tent, shielding Xiang Xu in his arms. His back was singed by the fireball, the skin burned, but he grinned through the pain at the trembling girl in his arms. “Don’t be afraid. We’re here.”

Zhou Yan and her group stopped their attack, their expressions changing as they saw a group of people approaching. The aura of Special Ability users was unmistakable, especially when they came in numbers.

Zhou Jian, hiding behind Zhou Yan, turned pale with fear.

The leader of the group, sensing the杀气 emanating from the approaching figures, knew this wasn’t going to end simply…
