Chapter 101

After leaving Klaus’s workshop, we decided to have lunch at a restaurant in the commercial district.

Of course, I was treating everyone.

“Seemed kinda upscale, didn’t it?”

“Yeah, that was the vibe.”

Frank and Cedric nodded in agreement.

“Seriously thinking of buying a trident though…”

“What are you gonna do with it?”

“Decorate my boring room.”

“Your room’s not boring, it’s empty.”

That too, I guess.

“Eh? Tsukasa, your room’s empty?”

Cedric asked me.

“Yeah, I’ve got a place in Japan.”

“But even so, don’t you have anything? Bookshelf… don’t you read? Desk… don’t you study?”

Sad but true.

“Don’t have anything to put.”

“Still, you should at least get some furniture. Someone might come visit, right?”

“Nah, only you guys ever come.”

Though you’ve never even come over.

“Rather than a trident, shouldn’t you start by getting that stuff? It’s not expensive or anything.”

Hmm, I did give Toko 20,000 gold for bear money, but I’ve still got 100,000 left.

Plus, I’ve still got my allowance, so I’ve got a decent amount.

Maybe I should get some furniture.

“Should I go shopping?”

“You should. It’s free time this afternoon anyway, I’ll come with you.”

Cedric?

This rich kid?

“I’ll ask Frank about the stores.”

“Wait, I know more than him.”

“Stores you pick will probably have chairs costing over 100,000.”

“More like over a million.”

What an idiot!

“We don’t have that kind of money.”

“Alright then, I’ll show you. Let’s go.”

After finishing lunch, we headed to a store selling furniture and sundries and ended up buying a random desk and chair.

We wandered around town some more, fooling around, and when it got to evening, we returned to the dormitory.

Once inside the dorm room, I didn’t immediately go through the gate, instead laying out the things I’d purchased today on the floor.

“Should’ve asked for help…”

Frank and Cedric had headed down to the cafeteria for dinner.

“Should I call Toko…?”

If I don’t say anything, it should be fine, but can that guy stay quiet?

“Hmm…?”

As I was pondering, I heard a faint sound from the window.

I approached the window to investigate, and again, I could hear the sound.

In fact, something hit the window.

“Hm?”

When I opened the window, I could see the town dyed a reddish hue.

“Hey there!”

Hearing a voice from below, I looked down and saw Michelle.

“What are you doing?”

“This dormitory is for boys!”

“…. Let me approach you a little.”

When Michelle said that and I moved away from the window, suddenly she appeared hanging onto the edge of the window with her hands and feet.

“Eh? Jumped?”

When did she?

“Teleportation magic.”

Ah, the kind Sharl and Ilmera use.

“You know you’re not supposed to be here, right?”

“Ah well. Oh my, did you buy furniture?”

Michelle looked at the pile of furniture in the middle of the room.

“Since you said the room was empty, I went and bought some.”

“Well, it was more than just empty, it was vacant property.”

Well, since there’s nothing here and no one lives here, it does feel like an empty house.

“Will you help me?”

“Sure thing.”

Wow, when you ask, you get results!

We split up the work, unpacked the supplies, and set things up.

“Guarding me again today?”

“Yes, you didn’t notice, did you?”

I didn’t notice at all.

“I didn’t even feel your magic.”

“I excel at being stealthy. Although, you were impressive taking down that large crocodile.”

“Ah, well, I can handle those.”

“The most terrifying thing was your reaction speed. When that crocodile jumped out of the river, you leapt up instantly. I thought you were a cat.”

A cat?

“Though, I’d rather have had your talent for magic.”

“Hmm…?”

Michelle looked at me closely.

“By the way, were there any suspicious characters?”

“Not particularly… just that group of students you met by the river, I suppose?”

Ronald and Yuki.

“They weren’t suspicious or anything…”

“Just standard precautions. Because of what happened with Joan.”

Well, true.

“Did you notice anything suspicious about those two?”

“No, they weren’t. The meeting was probably by chance.”

I think.

Because they were there before us.

“Anything else?”

“Not really. I left when you were having lunch, so I don’t know after that.”

You left partway through?

“Is that okay?”

“Considering it’s a busy commercial area, right? Plus, you wouldn’t like being surveilled 24/7, would you, Tsukasa? Boys have boys’ social lives too.”

True, that is annoying.

“Sounds like Chloe right now.”

“Where?”

“Boys have boys’ social lives…”

“Eh? Why?”

Don’t dodge that easily!

Don’t just stare!

“No, it’s fine. Did you also monitor us during the Magic Tournament?”

“Curious, aren’t you… yes, there was a tournament.”

“Did you win?”

“Of course not. Chloe was the champion. Three times in a row. Six championships total.”

Wow.

“Really… that many?”

“Absolutely overwhelming. Though, we didn’t have many combat-oriented people in our year.”

Even with that considered, six championships is impressive.

“By the way, what about Erik?”

“That person never participated, not once.”

“Poor guy.”

“Not someone who likes conflicts. Actually, most people of La Folle dislike it. You two are the anomalies.”

Is it the Naga blood?

“Is that all… then is this fine?”

With the furniture set up, I looked around the room.

At least I have a study desk and table.

“It looks alright, doesn’t it?”

“Thank you for your help.”

“No problem. Well, I think I’ll be heading out then.”

As Michelle moved toward the window.

“By the way, how do you come here? I heard you rented an apartment in Japan.”

“The principal has provided me with a room. I’m going to be a part-time teacher at the school starting tomorrow.”

“Eh? A teacher?”

“More or less. You can ask me if you have any questions.”

She can be a teacher too?

She’s incredible.

“A teacher invaded the boys’ dormitory?”

Isn’t that against the rules?

“Starting tomorrow…”

With that, Michelle jumped out of the window and disappeared.

Honestly, she looked more like a thief than a teacher.
