Chapter 1034: Drowsy Gas
Regardless, now that he was awake, Lin Nuo felt relieved.
If he really kicked the bucket because of a fight between the little kids Su Kexin and Mu Yiting, that would be a serious smack to his pride.
But he had to doubt the authenticity of what he saw. When he was in the Cangshan Forest, did Su Kexin really seal the Crack of the Demon Realm? And what about the Demon Realm princess Mu Yiting? Was any of this real?
It probably was just the whimsical stuff of his dreams. A princess in the Demon Realm? Seriously?
Come on, that’s too far-fetched.
But what if it is real?
“Grind…”
Lin Nuo gritted his teeth, pondering the matter seriously.
He realized he hadn’t seen Mu Yiting in ages, and he wondered if she was even alive.
By the way, what time is it now? How long have I been out cold?
Might as well get up first.
The three girls were sleeping soundly and hadn’t noticed he was awake.
Please don’t tell me they’re dead?
Lin Nuo extended his fingers towards their noses, and their breaths showed no irregularities.
Just sleeping, that’s all.
I mean, you three are supposed to be taking care of me, yet you’re all knocked out? Don’t you have a shift rotation or something?
Whatever.
Lin Nuo decided not to wake them up, cautiously curling up his body and sneakily sliding out from under the covers.
They still hadn’t stirred; they were still in dreamland.
This was not like them at all; any little movement from him would usually alert them, and then it would be a whole ruckus.
Yet there was nothing.
Why does it suddenly feel like he was being disregarded?
Forget it, he’d just slip out for a look.
After this bout of rest, his body felt much better, and he was full of energy.
He got off the bed and noticed he had changed into a fresh set of clothes, while his previous ones were hanging by the bed, already washed.
He hastily put on the clothes, noticing he was now surrounded by their scents. Who knows what they did to him while he was out?
Whatever, it’s not like he hadn’t been intimate with them. Not exactly something to be shy about.
Time to go out.
Lin Nuo stepped out of the room and found that the place he had just rested was tidied up for him.
The scene was quiet; ordinarily, if those three girls were asleep, there should be others around too. There was no way all the Demon Practitioners and Fox People were dead.
And then he saw it.
They were actually lying on the ground, fast asleep, deep in slumber.
“Hmm?”
He sensed something was off; everyone was sleeping, and no one came by to check on him.
So what in the world happened while he was out cold?
He shook one of the sleeping Demon Practitioners, but they didn’t wake up no matter how hard he tried, and their pulses seemed normal. They were just sleeping.
Let’s take a look around.
Lin Nuo wandered nearby and found that everyone on guard duty was in a deep sleep, no way to rouse them.
One might be faking it, but a whole group? That’s impossible.
The forest often had fog, and now was no exception, though the white mist was light, not affecting his visibility too much.
He decided to head to the cave where the Crack of the Demon Realm was earlier. The closer he got to the cave, the weirder it felt.
Something seemed to be emitting gas from within.
This cave was definitely not a good place; all sorts of weird stuff tended to happen here.
Lin Nuo dashed inside again, using Spirit Technique to ignite a red flame, illuminating everything in the cave.
He continued walking until he reached the cave’s end.
“Hmm?”
He frowned; he couldn’t see the Crack of the Demon Realm but noticed some kind of unknown gas at the far end, thick and gradually seeping out.
“Is it these gases? But what could have created them?”
Lin Nuo was unclear on that. Maybe something had escaped when the crack appeared, something he hadn’t noticed, and after a while, it turned into this gas.
It’s also possible some rascal came by to let it out. But if it was just letting it out, why do it in the cave? Why not outside?
So, Li Ruo’er and the others must have inhaled this gas to be sleeping so deeply.
But why was he unaffected?
Maybe he had just slept for too long and was no longer sleepy.
Never mind, first, let’s clear out these gases.
Now Lin Nuo waved his hand, and a black vortex appeared before him, sucking the gas inside.
Of course, it wasn’t just sucking it in and being done; it was a lengthy process of consuming it, as he continuously spent Demon Soul Power to burn it from the inside out.
As long as there was no more gas seeping out, the others should wake up pretty quickly.
Lin Nuo retracted his hand, the black vortex shrinked down, turning into a black magical sphere, the sphere burning inside, growing hotter, requiring additional use of Demon Power to cool it down.
The whole thing went smoothly.
But he was even more convinced of his thoughts: he had to get out of this cursed place, it was like a haunted mountain, always spewing out weird stuff.
At that moment, back in Lin Nuo’s room.
“Hmm… Why am I sleeping…? Young Master…? Ah?! Where’s Young Master?!”
Li Ruo’er yawned, still half-asleep, and as soon as she blinked, she discovered Lin Nuo was missing from the bed, instantly snapping to attention.
This is not good; her beloved Young Master was gone. How could she not be alert?!
“Junior Martial Brother is missing? What’s going on…? How could I not notice anything?”
“Master?! How did I fall asleep?! This is unacceptable!”
Ling Meng was the first to dash outside, hurriedly asking the nearby Demon Practitioners if they had seen Lin Nuo, but they were in the same state as her, just waking up.
“I’m so sorry! Young Master! I’m terribly sorry! I fell asleep! Please punish me!”
A Demon Practitioner quickly pleaded sincerely; Ling Meng herself had been asleep—how could she punish them?
It was just very strange; how was everyone asleep, yet Master was missing?
That was too bizarre!
Could this be Master’s doing? He certainly could, but why would he do that?
Not clear, gotta search everywhere; if Master has run off, what’s she gonna do?
But soon, a Demon Eagle spirit flew over to Ling Meng and conveyed a message.
In short: Lin Nuo was fine; he just went to handle something and would return soon.
Ling Meng was still thinking of replying, but once the message was sent, the Demon Eagle spirit disappeared completely.
“Scared me! So Master is fine. But where did he go? Couldn’t he say when he’s coming back?”
Ling Meng was anxious, but she had to wait. If she stepped out and Lin Nuo returned, she would miss the chance to hug him closely.
Lin Nuo hadn’t returned yet; he sat on a mountain peak, contemplating the matters from his dream.
“So, the fact that Mu Yiting went missing later might have something to do with this cursed Demon Realm?”
Lin Nuo thought about it, not dismissing the possibility. To confirm his suspicion, he needed to find Mu Yiting.
…
“Big brother…? Who is it…? Why have I been having this dream lately…?”
In her room, the girl held her head, speaking to herself.
