Chapter 1044: The Union of the Demon Realm and Sacred Realm?
“Eh? Who could it be? Is it Su Kexin and the others?”
Mu Yiting also grew vigilant, though her body was quite exhausted, making movement difficult.
“It shouldn’t be, but they’re not friendly guests.”
Lin Nuo sensed two auras rapidly approaching them, and Mu Yiting’s body began to tremble involuntarily.
“Are you cold?” Lin Nuo asked.
“No. I know who it is now. You better be careful.”
“It’s those two who attacked you. You seem scared of them.”
Lin Nuo said, and soon a thick fog surged ahead, obscuring their view.
Fog on such a hot day felt odd, but as it spread quickly, not even sunlight could shine through.
“There’s something, but not much.”
The fog grew dense enough that Lin Nuo could barely see Mu Yiting anymore.
Heh, here they come?
In an instant, a hand emerged from the thick fog, aiming to strike Lin Nuo, but he dodged nimbly, the force creating a huge crater in the ground.
“Lin Nuo, where are you?!”
“Right here, let’s move.”
Lin Nuo pinpointed Mu Yiting’s position. Just as another hand lunged at her, he dashed over, wrapping an arm around her and evading the attack.
With a loud boom, yet another punch created chaos around them.
“Seriously, if you ran into them alone, you’d be dead on the spot. It’s strange how you’re still alive,” Lin Nuo teased.
“Are you wishing me dead? Do you fancy ghost lovers?”
“I’m not into that. But clearly, you might have hidden abilities similar to Su Kexin that helped you escape. But you don’t have her explosive power, or those two would be history.”
“So, you still acknowledge Su Kexin’s powers, right?”
Mu Yiting’s tone held a hint of jealousy.
“Not really, but I can’t help but fear her.”
Lin Nuo replied seriously. He moved rapidly, the spreading fog failing to keep up with his speed as they soon sprinted out.
The thick fog obscured their surroundings, and although the other side was intentionally concealing their aura, Lin Nuo’s experienced senses still detected them.
Their target was Mu Yiting, who was now too fatigued to fight, so he needed to get her to safety first.
However, the pursuers were relentless, following closely, the fog aiding their stealthy movements.
“Do you have any strong enemies in your memory?” Lin Nuo asked.
“No, never. If I did, I would’ve been dead long ago.”
“It might be your enemies, just not from your world.”
Lin Nuo dodged backward, his legs kicking up a gust as he accelerated, creating distance between them and the fog.
He could run away well, but ultimately, running wasn’t a solution.
He intended to distance himself from the forest to prevent them from troubling Ruo’er and the others. Just dealing with Mu Yiting was hard enough, not to mention a whole group of Fox People. Did they think he, Lin Nuo, was here to save the world?
“If they’re coming after you, it means you’re useful. Otherwise, they wouldn’t do this. Remember what happened in your dream? If you’re sacrificed, the Crack of the Demon Realm will open.”
“So they plan to use me as a sacrifice? If they can attack me, then they already have a way to enter this world, why bother opening the Crack of the Demon Realm?”
“Some of them can traverse souls, meaning their souls can reach this world and inhabit human bodies. But very few can do that, and they are only soul substitutes, limiting their powers. So they need a way to let a larger number of Demons enter this world.”
“Why hasn’t this happened before?” Mu Yiting asked curiously.
“Probably due to the fall of the Demon Star. Someone told me that the Demon Realm intentionally let it fall into this world. Alright, stay here. Don’t wander off.”
With that, Lin Nuo set Mu Yiting down and tossed three magical talismans at her feet, forming a triangle for temporary defense.
“Are you going to fight them?”
“Do you think I have a choice?”
Lin Nuo smirked coldly, then left Mu Yiting behind as he dashed toward the fog.
Given Lin Nuo’s expertise, he could easily disperse the fog, but he chose not to, instead rushing into it.
As long as he was inside the fog, the others would feel they had the advantage, might get a little cocky, and let their guard down, not realizing what awaited them was a powerful punch.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Sounds echoed from within the fog, and Mu Yiting had no idea how the fight was going, feeling somewhat anxious.
But she was just a burden right now, unable to help. All she could do was pray.
After a long while, following a fierce battle, the fog dissipated, revealing the figures of the two enemies, who had been knocked to the ground by Lin Nuo’s punches.
But they were resilient. Even after receiving Lin Nuo’s heavy blows, they hadn’t fallen, managing to stand up again.
They looked like ordinary humans, yet their eyes were vacant, their faces expressionless, acting like puppets under control.
“Human, I advise you not to meddle, or you will face greater trouble.”
One of them said with an emotionless tone—words Lin Nuo had heard countless times before.
You say whatever you want; it’s a joke, right?
These guys were really something. In this day and age, isn’t strength what counts? You can’t even fight back and still think you can negotiate? What a joke!
“That may be, but I want to know your purpose. It doesn’t look like you’re here for me but for her, right?”
Lin Nuo pointed towards Mu Yiting, and one of them replied:
“Yes, we need her. But that’s classified, so I can’t tell you. All I can say is if you interfere, you’ll invite trouble.”
“Well, not saying anything and just advising me. Your style is rather unique; you must be from the Demon Realm, right? Oh no, one’s from the Demon Realm, the other from the Sacred Realm. Clearly, you have different auras.”
In the heat of battle, Lin Nuo discovered something new. It wasn’t merely a conflict between the Demon Realm and the Sacred Realm anymore; they had clearly birthed a union of both powers.
How many more secrets were these freaks hiding from me, Lin Nuo?
“Don’t take advantage of my talking to sneak away, alright?”
Lin Nuo noticed one of them trying to sneak up on Mu Yiting while he was talking and rushed over, delivering a punch at lightning speed.
Boom!
That punch landed directly, knocking the guy’s head askew, but he didn’t die and stood up again.
However, he was severely injured, his body moving awkwardly as he regained his stance.
To completely eliminate them, Lin Nuo knew he needed to destroy their souls; the souls were their essence. Otherwise, they would keep leeching onto new bodies and remain unkillable.
Lin Nuo prepared his soul-destroying technique to completely annihilate their souls, but that wasn’t an instant skill; it required time to charge.
The best course of action now was to keep pummeling them until they couldn’t move anymore.
Then came the “Ora Ora!” barrage of punches.
