Chapter 1045: Are You from the Future?
As Lin Nuo’s powerful punch struck, the host body occupied by the Sacred Realm’s soul had already reached a state of exhaustion, completely incapable of moving.
Time to eradicate that soul once and for all.
During the battle, Lin Nuo had already affixed a magic Fu to his opponent, and now it was time to deliver the final blow.
He’s dealt with countless wandering spirits and vile ghosts; anyone who defies him ends up scattered in soul.
Go ahead and meet your end.
Just as Lin Nuo was about to cast his spell, the opponent exhibited some strange behavior.
What should’ve been a dying body, waiting for Lin Nuo to finish it off, suddenly resorted to an extreme tactic.
Self-detonation.
With a sudden surge in body temperature, before Lin Nuo could complete his final incantation, the opponent’s body exploded, creating a massive hole at the scene.
“Whoa, that’s brutal!” Lin Nuo chuckled, but he reacted quickly, retreating just in time to avoid the blast.
The explosion nearly reached Mu Yiting, but she didn’t flinch; she trusted Lin Nuo’s magic Fu to protect her.
After this explosive incident, the opponent’s body was gone, but the soul still lingered.
The soul from the Sacred Realm swiftly fled to join its companions and quickly exited the scene.
By the time Lin Nuo turned to look, they had already vanished. However, with his speed and abilities, he could likely catch up if he chose to pursue.
But once they fled, who knows what kind of trouble might seek out Mu Yiting.
Don’t chase a fleeing enemy; it’s best to let it go for now.
“You alright?”
Lin Nuo quickly returned to Mu Yiting’s side, removing the magic Fu that lingered around her.
“I’m fine. They left, aren’t you going to chase after them?”
“Not chasing. That’s like luring the tiger away from its mountain lair—too risky. This isn’t the end; we might run into them again tomorrow.”
Lin Nuo had already dispelled the magic array and was holding Mu Yiting’s arm.
“Your hand’s still a bit shaky.”
“I don’t feel anything.”
“A little bit, but not much; it means you’re still scared. You have some fear of them.”
“They almost killed me; how could I not be afraid?”
“Relax; they probably won’t kill you, but they definitely want you dead. You’re the key to the Demon Realm, so you need to stick around until the door opens.”
Lin Nuo released her hand, but Mu Yiting grabbed it again, needing that sense of security.
“Big brother, can’t you hold my hand like you did when we were kids? What if I get lost?” Mu Yiting said in a soft whisper.
“Such words from you feels a bit inappropriate. Stop with the ‘big brother’ stuff; here, you can’t linger too long, we need to move.”
“Then take me with you.”
“I need to stay here.”
“So you’re just going to abandon me?”
Mu Yiting tightened her grip on Lin Nuo’s hand.
“Alright, you can stay here for now. There are plenty of Fox People around; it might not be safe for you. What about your organization?” Lin Nuo sighed.
“My organization won’t be of much help. Look at them; how can we defend against that? Now that you know this secret, you have to take responsibility for protecting me. If I ascend in the Demon Realm’s Tianqi Kingdom, I’ll make you the emperor.”
“Thanks, but I’m not interested in your family’s assets. What about that minister of yours? I need to gather some intel from him. It seems like a Demon Realm and a Sacred Realm force have teamed up, which is quite unusual. Of course, I’m just speculating; who knows what that messy place is really like? But one thing’s for sure—you’ve become valuable now.”
“I’d rather not be valuable. I just want to be priceless in your heart; that would be enough.”
Mu Yiting sighed, finding it frustrating to realize after several years that she wasn’t a truly authentic being; it was somewhat depressing.
For now, she would follow Lin Nuo but she didn’t want to rely on him forever. Continuous dependence would eventually become burdensome.
In a moment, she had this thought:
Return and become an empress, a sovereign in the Demon Realm; that way, she could match Lin Nuo.
But that was a fantasy—if she were to return, it meant the Tianqi Kingdom was in peril and needed her back to stabilize things.
However, the likelihood was that she would die, not become a sovereign.
If she couldn’t succeed in the human realm, there was no way to do so in the Demon Realm.
Yet, people must have dreams; at least she held onto a powerful identity, with hope of matching Lin Nuo.
But even if she could match him, they would still be worlds apart.
“How far is Cangshan Forest from here?”
Mu Yiting asked, awakening from her confusion regarding geography.
“Not too far. Just about twenty miles. Honestly, I’m considering temporarily relocating the Fox People there.”
“Where? Aren’t you afraid of a repeat of your childhood? Everyone died except for you, me, and Su Kexin.”
“They need resources to replenish their spirit power, and Cangshan Forest is a good spot. I do share your concerns, but it’s just temporary; we can find another place later.”
Lin Nuo, who was holding onto the script, instinctively knew what would unfold next, but the emergence of forces from the Demon and Sacred Realms had derailed the entire script.
Unbeknownst to him, everything had become chaotic; during his lifetime, these two realms shouldn’t even have been known to mortals, but here they were.
Lin Nuo hunted for some prey, catching fish from the river, and roasted it to fill their bellies; Mu Yiting joined him to eat as well.
“Lin Nuo, I’m wondering why we share the same dream. And you were in Cangshan Forest back then, surviving. Maybe you’re a prince from a certain kingdom in the Demon Realm, and someday we could form an alliance through marriage?”
Lin Nuo: “…”
What nonsense; I’m just a modern-day nerd from the 21st century, with no royal background whatsoever.
“Some things are hard to explain. Do you believe time can repeat itself? That one can return to the past?” Lin Nuo asked.
“I believe.”
“Tell me your reasoning.”
“In the dream, seeing you is just like seeing you return to the past. So it’s quite possible. I’m thinking, are you from the future? Because you seem to know so much and can even predict future events.”
Mu Yiting gazed at Lin Nuo, her eyes full of curiosity.
“If I came from the future, would I not know about the Demon and Sacred Realms?”
Lin Nuo replied nonchalantly, biting into the meat.
How embarrassing, being a reborn person yet ignorant of these two ragtag realms.
While Lin Nuo and Mu Yiting were dining at the bottom of the mountain, the Fox People in the mountain heard the booming sound and naturally panicked; Ruo’er quickly sent subordinates down to check the situation. Without Lin Nuo, she needed to step up.
As the Fox People descended the mountain, they glimpsed the multiple massive craters below, astonished. But upon spotting Lin Nuo, they felt relieved.
Not only did they find Lin Nuo, but they also noticed a strange human woman sitting across from him, wearing Lin Nuo’s outer robe, and they seemed quite intimate.
“Wow, Lin Nuo is really something; it hasn’t been long since we last met, and he’s already with another girl… But if this gets back to Ruo’er…”
