The bone golem was about the size of a small building.
Its movements were surprisingly fast for its bulk.
The battlefield turned into chaos in an instant.
Bang!
“Hey! Why are these guys destroying the buildings?”
The golem’s fist smashed through a building, and the debris was thrown directly at us.
Crash!
“How are we supposed to catch that thing?”
“If it’s big, there are lots of places to hit!”
That wasn’t wrong.
Moreover, it was creating its own grave.
The more buildings it demolished around us, the more space I had to use my magic.
Three or four bone golems had reduced the city around us to nearly a wasteland.
Now that it had provided me with a stage to leap, I would step up.
“Last Ape!”
I gripped Last Ape, transformed back into its double-edged sword form.
As I gathered lightning in my palm, a blue light began to burst forth.
Crackle!
As the blue light grew more intense, it finally turned into a bright yellow.
I reached out and drew lightning from below to the bone golem.
Kaboom!
The ground exploded as lightning struck straight from between the golem’s legs to its head.
As the bone golem turned its head towards me, a line formed starting from its brow, and that massive bone split in half.
As one half of the bone golem fell, a thick cloud of dust rose up.
“Cough. Cough. Did you take that down in one shot?”
“You took out the ghouls with one swing of your axe too.”
“No, that was….”
Iwaf looked at me with a surprised expression.
“Indeed, it’s impressive enough to be the bodyguard of the Demon King.”
At a comment from Wikes beside her, Iwaf’s expression shifted to one of astonishment.
“Bodyguard of the Demon King?”
“It’s just a formal title.”
I was protected, but I had never actually done any guarding.
“Hey, maybe later you can….”
“That’s not something I can decide.”
At my answer, Iwaf showed a hint of disappointment and raised her axe.
Thud!
One of the bone golems jumped over our heads.
With its massive body trying to crush us, everyone drew their weapons.
It was surprising that no one here thought to defend themselves, even for a moment.
I lifted Last Ape to the sky and shot off the bright yellow lightning.
Boom!
The bone golem that had jumped into the air couldn’t land back on the ground and shattered into pieces.
“Full army! Charge!”
Giraaza shouted at the soldiers in a very angry voice.
I was quite curious what expression the golem made when it got angry since it didn’t have a head.
The skeleton soldiers and ghouls that Iwaf had been holding back were no match for us.
All over the battlefield, stakes and axes flew, and Jie and Wikes rampaged.
I pushed through the skeleton soldiers and faced Giraaza.
“You’re the one who cast magic on the legion!”
“That’s right.”
Undead soldiers began to gather around me and Giraaza.
Even surrounded by enemies, I felt no great threat.
If things went south, I could spread my wings and fly.
Giraaza took a few steps back and put soldiers in front of him.
From that posture, I could tell that Giraaza was much weaker than Pron.
While Pron had the temperament of a charging warrior, Giraaza prioritized safety by putting soldiers at the front.
“I have one question for you.”
“What is it?”
“What is your purpose?”
“Hahaha! Is that even a question? Obviously, it’s the end of this world!”
They probably destroyed the world where Ksaham lived.
And the one where I lived and where Tenji lived too.
“Don’t hide among your soldiers, come at me.”
“This is my fighting style!”
With a flick, I created a lightning whip with Last Ape and swung it lightly, causing the soldiers to explode.
“This isn’t enough.”
“……Block it!”
Giraaza concealed himself among the undead soldiers.
I flew into the sky to chase him, but he had already vanished somewhere.
As I dealt with the undead soldiers and rejoined my comrades, something felt off about the remaining undead.
“Something seems off about them.”
“Yeah. They’re pretty flimsy.”
The path leading to the hotel entrance opened up.
Across the way, I saw a flash of blue light as undead soldiers were dispatched.
“Looks like you came to help!”
“By chance, it turned out that way.”
It seemed Jere was part of the squad guarding around the hotel.
It was evident that the might of the undead army had significantly decreased.
All that remained was the necromancer!
However, even though we had wandered around the city, we had not encountered him once.
“How is the headquarters?”
“We’re hearing reports that they are winning in various places.”
With Pron, the leader of the undead army, having been obliterated and Giraaza having disappeared, the undead invading the city were simply a ragtag group, hardly bearing the name of a legion.
“Can we take a break for a bit?”
“Shall we?”
At this point, we could say that we had won this war.
We decided to rest for now, agreeing to meet in the hotel lobby if anything happened.
“Access is restricted to authorized personnel beyond this point.”
Soldiers managing the elevator blocked Iwaf’s way.
“What’s with him?”
Iwaf pointed at me with a finger.
“This person is the secretary of the Demon King.”
“Wasn’t he the bodyguard?”
“Anyway, only those above a certain rank can go up.”
If it were an officer of the Knight Order, at least someone like a team leader.
Since Iwaf was a regular member, she didn’t qualify to enter the meeting room.
When we arrived at the floor with the meeting room, there was no one guarding the door.
After knocking and entering, the Demon King at the desk raised his head.
“Were you sleeping?”
“Just for a moment.”
By the window, 5 was with her eyes closed, muttering something continuously.
“The undead spreading throughout the city have been somewhat organized.”
5 opened her eyes and immediately reported to the Demon King.
“Good work. You should take a break too.”
5 only gave me a light nod and sat down heavily.
Even though it was quite late at night, the meeting room was dark without even a light on.
I settled down in a corner of the meeting room and began to replenish the mana expended in battle.
Thump!
As I was refining mana, I felt a strong pulse from my heart.
A strong and tingling sensation spun around my head, then quickly spread throughout my entire body.
It felt as if my skin was prickling with goosebumps.
“What’s wrong, Ririan! Are you okay?”
I opened my eyes at 5’s urgent shout.
She was watching me with a worried expression but hesitated to come closer, just standing in place.
“I’m fine, so don’t come any closer.”
I barely managed to tell 5 not to approach.
Something unknown was happening within my body.
I wanted to use my mana to suppress this influence, but it didn’t respond at all.
Thump! Thump!
My heartbeat quickened, and I began to feel more clear-headed.
Tingle. Tingle.
My whole body felt oddly dulled as if I had been electrocuted.
When I came to my senses, I saw that part of my body had changed.
My arms and legs were covered in scales, looking nothing like a human shape.
It seemed that my arms and legs had taken on the form of a dragon.
“Did I transform?”
“No, it’s happening on its own.”
The Demon King stood up from his seat and began to examine me closely.
“Your body seems somewhat stabilized, doesn’t it?”
“Will I revert back to normal?”
“That should be your original appearance!”
Thinking about it, that was true.
The human shape was just maintained for convenience in living and activity.
My true form is a dragon.
“I have no choice but to transform.”
“I couldn’t succeed at all last time, can I do it?”
“Give it a try.”
Now that my body had calmed down somewhat, I closed my eyes and began to cloak my entire being with mana.
“Polymorph?”
A strange incantation that naturally came to mind before the mana enveloped my body, I read it automatically.
A faint light rose from my entire body, and I returned to the form of the human I once knew.
“I succeeded in transforming.”
“Hmm… It seems a bit different.”
Thump!
From my heavily beating heart came a very alien sensation.
It was not unpleasant, but I felt an overwhelming power that I couldn’t control.
“I’ll take a look around the city.”
“Shouldn’t you rest a bit?”
“I think I’m fine.”
Right now, I actually wanted to move.
I opened the window and headed straight to the roof of the hotel.
I needed a wider space to understand the source of the power surging from my entire body.
Looking down from the roof, I started to search for any remaining undead.
It was a dark night, but with my enhanced sight, I could see clearly even at a distance.
“That looks like it needs help.”
As I flew toward that direction, I started to see a familiar face as I neared my target.
Swords and spears were flying through the battlefield, targeting the undead soldiers.
The trainees were desperately utilizing everything they had learned and battling against the undead.
Among them, one trainee stood out distinctly.
He was taking down two or three undead soldiers in an instant.
It was Eden.
Notably, Eden was holding his sword in reverse grip.
That was a movement he had never shown during training.
He must have gained a lot of insights through this war.
It was evident at first glance that the number of undead was far greater than the trainees.
I struck down a lightning bolt upon one undead from the sky.
Zap!
One ghoul was instantly turned to ashes.
As I slowly descended to the ground, I formed a light fist.
I changed one arm into a dragon’s form.
With that, I swung down at the approaching skeleton soldier’s head.
Crack!
With a dull sound, the skeleton soldier’s head shattered.
If I could exert the power of an adult human before, now I could easily exert much more than that.
I was so caught up in the excitement of pounding the undead that I almost forgot I was trying to control my strength.
I stood among the scattered remains of the undead.
“I came to help.”
“Oh… I see.”
Tenji and Eden looked at me with hesitant expressions.
“Isn’t that a special unit?”
“Others are resting, and I still have some strength left, so I thought I’d step out for a bit.”
I felt like I was just taking a light walk.
As I landed on the ground, Tenji hesitated significantly before carefully speaking up.
Hearing Tenji’s words, I couldn’t help but shout.
“Aila is practically a child right now!”
I had been looking for Aila, who had disappeared while we were moving.
