Chapter 1072: Qin Shili and the Ice Dragon
He lured out the Ice Dragon’s true form, pretended to be frozen by its ice, and took the chance to approach, ready to unleash the 【Punishment of the Sinful Beast】—smooth as flowing water, with no hesitation whatsoever.
He had prepared in advance, temporarily sealing himself, so being encased in ice was no problem.
He was accumulating power, waiting for the right moment to unseal himself and unleash a powerful surge of energy to break free from the ice.
【Punishment of the Sinful Beast】was Lin Nuo’s ultimate technique against divine beasts. Even if they hid underground, it would still blast them away.
As the Ice Dragon was struck by lightning, the ice blocks that had encased him began to dissipate.
When it came to trickery, he was the master. The Ice Dragon was powerful but far too arrogant.
Just like a frog at the bottom of a well, it had been cooped up here for so long that it didn’t know the day someone would toss a stone into the well and crack its head open.
Of course, Lin Nuo didn’t kill it. After all, this Ice Dragon had some connection to the Qin family, and besides, if it were to die, the whole place would collapse.
If it collapsed…
Then he could go out and say that the Qin family was all wiped out, and he could go off to eat a feast.
But if there was to be a feast, where would it even be held? Would he have to summon those demons to set it up?
What an odd picture to think about—a group of demons dining in a rural village…
The imagery was just too avant-garde for him to accept right now.
The dragon would probably wake up soon, but given its caliber, it wouldn’t take long for it to regain consciousness, leading to more chaos.
There was no need for the sealing formation; it couldn’t hold it at all and would provoke its internal power instead.
Let’s leave it at that for now.
Continuing deeper, Lin Nuo ignored the Ice Dragon and pressed on into the darkening space, using his hands to ignite a fire for light.
“So why is there a dragon here? What kind of treasure does the Qin family hide?”
Lin Nuo mumbled to himself as he walked a bit further, entering another space.
In that space, there were many people, all encased in ice. It looked like a refrigeration room; these people had been frozen, waiting to be taken out for slaughter someday.
“This dragon has quite the morbid hobby! How long has it been hiding these folks? It’s a bit cold in here.”
Lin Nuo used his technique to warm himself up a little, but it was still chilly—the deeper he went, the colder it got.
He noticed shadows of the Qin family among the frozen figures.
“Aren’t these people from Qin Shili’s family? Hmm? Isn’t that her old man?”
Lin Nuo discovered Qin Shili’s father, Qin Zhu, frozen solid and unmoving.
“They’ve frozen the poor guy, yet they’re saying he shouldn’t be cursed. This dragon really is something else. Just keeping him frozen to play with him slowly? What a twisted sense of fun.”
Lin Nuo shook his head, thinking if Qin Shili showed up, she’d probably end up frozen here as well.
Malicious intent, it seemed, this dragon was no angel. He could probably dispose of it later.
For now, he could break the ice.
Lin Nuo intended to use his technique on Qin Zhu to break him free but hesitated.
Better to test it out on a white mouse first.
Lin Nuo shifted his focus to one of the ice sculptures, releasing his technique to break the ice.
The ice shattered, but the person came apart too.
“Good thing I tested it; otherwise, it’d truly be a feast for the dead.”
Lin Nuo withdrew his hand, realizing that breaking it was a no-go—that would destroy both the person and the ice.
After thinking for a moment, he didn’t have any good ideas.
He excelled in killing, not saving. If he could kill this group, he wouldn’t bother at all.
Perhaps he could find Qin Shili; after all, she was an expert in ice techniques.
Time to retreat.
Lin Nuo turned around, whoosh, and vanished from sight.
He rushed toward the exit, quickly finding his way back to where the Ice Dragon was.
But by then, the Ice Dragon had already awakened.
Wow, that was fast—beyond his expectations.
Such resilience.
But an awakened Ice Dragon was not an issue anymore; there was now an additional person present.
Qin Shili.
Wait, how did you get in here?
Whoa, you came in right as this broken dragon was waking up!
Now Qin Shili faced the Ice Dragon head-on, unafraid, while the Ice Dragon examined her, the situation quite harmonious indeed.
Lin Nuo was puzzled. What’s going on? Is it because she’s a woman that it won’t attack? Is there some gender discrimination at play here?
Could it be that this broken dragon and Qin Shili have some sort of hidden relationship?
Emerging from behind, Lin Nuo caught Qin Shili’s gaze.
“Lin Nuo? Thank goodness you’re okay.”
Seeing Lin Nuo unharmed, Qin Shili felt relieved.
“What’s your relationship with this fella? It doesn’t seem inclined to attack you.”
Lin Nuo pointed at the Ice Dragon, inquiring.
“It… I feel very close to it, but I can’t remember. It seems to have no malice.” Qin Shili replied.
“No malice? Look at that hulking size—it could swallow you whole! You don’t know? Just now, this beast wanted to make me a specimen.”
“So, that bolt of lightning was because of you?”
“Yes.”
Lin Nuo nodded, gradually approaching Qin Shili while remaining vigilant—if anything seemed off, he’d unleash 【Punishment of the Sinful Beast】 to obliterate it.
“You… have grown up…”
The Ice Dragon’s voice had softened considerably, like an elderly person seeing a child grow up, a stark contrast to how low and menacing it had been toward Lin Nuo.
“You are… did we meet before…?” Qin Shili asked curiously.
“Sure did, but that was when you were a child. Can’t believe it’s been nearly ten years!”
The Ice Dragon sighed with nostalgia, not wistfully sad, just reflective.
“I don’t remember anything.”
Qin Shili tried to recall, but there was no memory at all.
“Perfectly normal; you’re not meant to remember this place. Your father didn’t want you to remember it either. But ultimately, you have returned.”
The Ice Dragon’s words were layered with meaning, igniting Lin Nuo’s annoyance as he interjected:
“What nonsense is this? Quit with the riddles! Just say it plainly. What are you, and how are you connected to her?”
“This is something from my past with her,” replied the Ice Dragon.
“Honestly, I’m regretting not killing you earlier. Though, there’s still a chance now.”
Lin Nuo picked up the magical symbol again; the Ice Dragon knew well enough to be cautious.
It no longer displayed its prior bravado; after all, Lin Nuo had smashed through its ice abilities and knocked it out cold. It had lost face.
Now it viewed Lin Nuo with newfound respect—realizing it had underestimated him.
“Human, you are strong. But I won’t beg for mercy; the strong reign, you may kill me.” the Ice Dragon coldly retorted.
“Wow, you’re really stubborn, huh? Want me to put up a tombstone for you that reads, ‘Died unyieldingly’? Maybe a song to praise your virtues, too?”
Lin Nuo was truly at a loss for words with this dragon—characters like it are usually scorned by the audience, acting all high and mighty.
“Lin Nuo, hold off on harming it for now; it seems to recognize me. I want to understand what happened.”
Qin Shili said, turning to the Ice Dragon,
“I honestly can’t recall anything about you. Can you tell me what happened?”
“It was a long time ago. To be honest, my memory of it isn’t too clear either.”
