Chapter 108: Can’t You Have Some Sympathy for Your Father?

Chapter 108: Can’t You Have Some Sympathy for Your Father?

“Well, that’s pretty much it. You get it, right?”

I informed Yake of what I learned from Ailin through the Contract. I should’ve made myself very clear; even a guy like Yake should understand what I just told him.

“Um. I think I get it. If you guys get captured by those Adrian People as sacrifices to summon that so-called God, then your world would be in danger too, right?”

Yake voiced his understanding.

“Exactly. That’s what I was saying, along with a method for power enhancement. As for whether this method is usable, I have no clue.”

“I didn’t quite catch what you said about that part earlier. But let’s just give it a try. If it works, great! If not, we can always look for other solutions.”

Yake thought this through. Simple enough: if it works, use it; if not, find another way.

However, Aierjisi wasn’t thinking like that. She didn’t have much time left, and those folks were probably going to get serious about capturing her soon. In this situation, she definitely needed to find a way to enhance her powers.

“Oh, right! One more thing I forgot to mention.”

“What is it?”

“We’re invited to the Celebration Feast tonight by Gaia. Let’s dress up nicely for tonight.”

“Huh? Dress up again? I really don’t want to wear that uncomfortable suit a second time.”

“You think I want to wear that dress? Come on, if I had my way, I’d skip it too! But it’s a personal invite from Gaia; you have to show him some respect.”

Seeing Yake’s strong resistance, Aierjisi felt the same. If she had a choice, she wouldn’t want to go either. But skipping wasn’t an option.

“Looks like we need to hit the city to see if there are any new suitable suits.”

Yake quickly came up with a new plan. Since the current suit felt too tight, he could just buy a new one.

“That’s a good idea! I also need to find a new dress—something that perfectly matches my aura! Oh, and I should pick something out for Father too. Yake, if you have nothing else, I’ll hang up now. I need to wake Father up.”

“Okay.”

After finishing the call with Yake, Aierjisi approached the bed and called out to Carl.

“Father, Father, wake up! It’s time to get up; I need your help!”

As Aierjisi pushed the sleeping Carl, she tried to wake him up.

But who knows if it was because he hadn’t rested well in the enemy’s jail, but he was deep in sleep now that no matter how much Aierjisi yelled his name, she couldn’t muster him awake.

“Ugh… Can’t wake him? If so, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”

In Aierjisi’s memories, there were quite a few times when Carl slept this soundly. Of course, she eventually succeeded in waking him up.

And how exactly did she accomplish that?

“Thunder, draw blade!”

Aierjisi took out a spiked club she had forged out of boredom earlier. It was originally meant for Yake, but that guy turned out to be unexpectedly capable, and she never got to use it on him. She thought it would just gather dust in Subspace, but unexpectedly, she’d have to use it on her own father.

“Hiss…”

Yake took a sharp breath; he could feel that Aier had applied electric magic on that spiked club. If that thing hit him, he’d be bedridden for about half a month!

“Father! Wake up!”

Aierjisi yelled and swung the club down toward the still-sleeping Carl.

“Mm?!”

Carl, who had been snoozing, suddenly received a primal warning from his body—danger was approaching! If he didn’t wake up now, he’d be finished.

In the next moment, Carl jolted awake and grabbed the spiked club with his hand.

“Aierjisi, what are you doing? Trying to kill me to inherit the throne, huh?”

Seeing that the one attacking him was his own daughter, Carl jokingly teased her as usual.

“You’re awake! That’s all that matters. I have something to discuss with you!”

“What is it? Calling me awake with such methods—can’t you just let me sleep a bit longer?”

Carl stretched his limbs; he still hadn’t rested enough. If possible, he wanted to sleep a little longer.

“There’s a Celebration Feast here tonight, and Father, you should come with me.”

“I think I’ll pass. Isn’t the feast for the warriors who participated in the battle? I wasn’t in the fight, and they didn’t invite me specifically, so I guess I won’t go.”

Carl shook his head. Since they hadn’t invited him himself, he didn’t want to impose and possibly cause trouble.

“It’s fine. They invited me, so you should come with me. How about it?”

Aierjisi, as always, shook Carl’s leg desperately, trying to charm him into agreeing.

“Oh dear. Stop shaking my leg already! Fine, I’ll go with you! Honestly, I thought you’d grown up a bit, but you’re still the annoying little sprite you’ve always been.”

Carl was a tad annoyed, reaching out to pinch Aierjisi’s cheek. Seriously, no matter how much time passed, his daughter hasn’t changed. If this goes on…

How could he ever trust her to manage the Blood Clan?

“Yay! Let’s go shop for clothes now!”

“Huh? Right now? Isn’t it a bit too early? Besides, isn’t this the Royal Palace? Shouldn’t there be gowns prepared for guests attending the Celebration Feast?”

Back when Carl led the Blood Clan, he would always prepare gowns ahead of time for those who hadn’t gotten ready in time for the banquet. Was there not a single one here?

“Are there any? I don’t know. But it’s better to prepare the gown ourselves, right? Come on, let’s go get dresses! Yake, come help me out!”

Aierjisi tugged at Carl’s hand, trying to pull him out of bed. Seeing she couldn’t do it alone, she turned to yell for Yake to help lift Carl up.

“Okay, okay, no more pulling! I’m getting up! Seriously, I haven’t had enough rest, and you’re making me move. Can’t you have a little sympathy for your father?”

Carl rubbed his waist; after being tackled by his daughter, he had no choice but to rise.
