After parting with Sharl and returning home, I was reading manga when the door slowly opened.
“Heh heh heh…”
There was no knock, so I thought it was probably Toko, but there stood an idiot with a smug grin on their face.
“What is it?”
“Apparently, the leader of the evil student council, as expected, went crying to a guy.”
What is this person talking about?
“There is no such thing as a student council. Sharl just does all the odd jobs alone.”
Also, whatever character you’re trying to act like, you’re clearly the villain here.
“I don’t need your reality check… I see my twin brother has also sided with a woman.”
This person is incomprehensible…
“You’re in high school, stop this already. It’s embarrassing.”
“Let me know when you admit ‘He’s the weakest in the Nagase household.'”
Are you one of the Four Kings?
“What do you want?”
“You’ve teamed up with the president, Big Brother.”
Toko returned to normal and sat on the floor.
“That’s right. Though Ms. Jenny did a double-take.”
“Famous rivals Iver and La Folle forming an alliance? Of course she would.”
“Our feud only exists at home. Why should I get involved? There are unpleasant people in the La Folle faction too, and there are good people in the Iver faction. And Noel, who you’ve forcibly dragged into this, is from the Iver faction.”
Poor her…
“Still, sure… But there are brothers who choose the enemy’s woman over their own sister.”
Still holding a grudge, are we?
“So? Is that all you came here to say?”
“Have you seen the match-up chart?”
“I’ve seen it. If you lay a finger on Sharl, I’ll kill you.”

“Relax, it’s just practice.”
“You were so fired up about ‘revenge,’ and Sharl was completely disheartened. Poor her…”
She was so hesitant…
“Turns out your brother really did cry to someone…”
“Apparently, he has no other friends.”
“I can’t say much about that. Even if he had friends, considering the president’s personality, he wouldn’t show his weakness.”

He always looks grumpy at school…
“Are you seriously going to fight?”
“Of course! Forget about revenge, but when you do something, you aim to win. Also, Yuika’s really determined.”

“Do you know anything about the other two teams?”
“No idea. There were some Japanese-sounding names too.”
“Aren’t you going to look into it?”
“Unnecessary! I’ll just overpower them!”
Judging from their actions, this person can only study because God must have made a mistake. They’re clearly an idiot.
“Alright. Just saying this: absolutely no flying.”
“Reading the room, got it. When it felt off, it just made me seem like I tricked the president, even though I didn’t.”
Still, it feels off…
“Also, don’t blame me if you lose. Mourn your own weakness.”
“Hmph? With only magical power as your sole skill, you dare to think you can defeat the Super Elite Toko-sama?”
Why are you always the villain?
Also, the Super Elite Toko-sama is not as great as they seem…
“Having only magic as your skill applies to your partner too, doesn’t it?”
“…That’s true. Take Two! Hmph? The backdoor entrant idiot… and Yuika too.”
That’s true…
“Hmph. The Super Elite Toko-sama punishing the idiot couple…”
“You, stop talking.”
Awkward memories resurfaced…
“Hmph, hmf. Guess there’s no other option but to train!”
Toko stood up and left the room.
“That guy really is an idiot.”
Anyway, it’s probably best if tomorrow’s study session isn’t at my place.
I called Sharl to change tomorrow’s study session to a family restaurant and resumed reading.
The next day, I momentarily forgot about the Magic Tournament and instead focused on our usual study session with Sharl.
This was because I realized there wouldn’t be any study sessions next week or the week after due to the Magic Tournament.
The test wasn’t far off either, so while getting tutored by Sharl, I reviewed and did some prep work.
By Sunday,
I left home early in the morning and headed to Sharl’s place.
Upon arriving at Sharl’s house, I rang the doorbell. Chloe, wearing a maid outfit, opened the door and came all the way to the gate.
“Good morning. Thank you for coming today.”
“Why are you working so seriously?”
There was none of her usual goofiness.
“Do you really see me as such an innocent person? This is normal.”
Isn’t it because you’re the abnormal one?
“Where’s Sharl?”
“She’s waiting for you in the living room. Please do come in.”
Chloe opened the gate and ushered me in. Once inside the house and led to the living room, there sat Sharl waiting patiently.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning. Thanks for coming.”
“Ah, considering that I live with Toko, it’s probably better like this. That person would casually join our countermeasure meetings.”
They’re an idiot after all…
“Toko is pretty lighthearted though. Anyway, let’s sit down. Chloe, coffee, please.”
“Understood.”
As Chloe headed to the kitchen, I sat across from Sharl. Then, Sharl took out a few sheets of paper.
“What’s this?”
“I’ve compiled information on our opponents.”
Impressive…
As expected of someone who writes multiple books.
“Finally decided to get serious?”
“Yes. If we’re going to do this, there’s no other option but to win. Standing up to our opponents, whoever they may be, without hesitation – that’s what Iver is all about.”
If I hadn’t seen Sharl acting so meekly up until yesterday, I would’ve thought she looked pretty cool just now…
“It’s good that you’ve managed to reset your mindset.”
“It’s decided, so it’s okay, I suppose. To be honest, last night I regretted ever becoming the student council president and just being the janitor.”
Well, you only became the president to avoid the tournament, and now you’ve ended up participating anyway. Not really a good deal…
“You know, it’s not so bad. Because you became the president, you met Tsukasa-sama, and now you’re fighting together. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?”
Chloe interjects as she places the coffee on the table.
“Chloe, what’s wrong? You’re acting strange today.”
“True. You’re being so sensible today. Did you catch a cold?”
Usually, you’d say something useless…
“…Perfect synchronization, huh? You two seem like an old married couple.”
Ah, there’s the Chloe I know.
