Chapter 109

It was because of the broadcast preparation.

Deciding to climb the ranks had been an impulsive decision, but starting a stream had been a dream of mine for quite some time.

Until now, the connection device I used at home was incompatible with broadcasting modules.

After thoroughly searching for alternatives, the conclusion was that installation was impossible at the hardware level.

On the other hand, Sigma’s equipment was compatible even with the latest broadcasting modules.

Having realized it was possible.

Now, I had someone to turn to for help.

So there was no choice but to try.

[Title: TestTestTest]

[‘Gawol’ is streaming privately.]

[Notice: Broadcast test mode is on.]

Elderlyn was a currently popular streamer.

Whether it was a game stream or a cam chat, she was not only known for her striking looks but also for her engaging personality, and her fanbase was notoriously loyal.

This loyalty made Elderyl’s streams famous for guaranteeing at least some level of success regardless of the content.

And Sansa was a phantom who would wake up in the afternoon, play games until dawn, and keep her live stream running almost non-stop outside of her sleep hours.

Most streamers had at least heard of her nickname at some point.

She even seemed to watch streams more than I did.

‘That’s no small feat… no. This isn’t right.’

Sansa, whose real name was Kim Sin-a, was highly recognized among freelance designers.

Initially active in the advertising industry, she transitioned to freelancing once her skills improved, now having a solid enough reputation to pick her projects carefully.

It became clear that her reputation wasn’t a lie when Sansa pushed her tablet toward me.

‘Since the theme should evoke the feeling of an assassin, I tried making a few designs. Would you like to take a look?’

‘Did you already complete all of them?’

‘Yeah. I wanted to make them with care for you.’

The first one was the waiting screen for the broadcast.

When was this picture even taken?

A snowy coniferous forest. Concealed behind a tree trunk, there was Gawol.

Looking at her injuries, it seemed like she was in the middle of a battle. Was this from the semi-finals?

I had seen Gawol countless times before, yet the atmosphere she exuded now felt unfamiliar.

The subtle glance through her crimson eyes, the dagger held discreetly near her chest, her hair flowing in the slight breeze—all of it was mesmerizing.

It was impossible not to feel overjoyed.

That moment must have been a fleeting one during the match. If I hadn’t been focusing on my game so intently, I wouldn’t have remembered it at all.

Thinking back, Sansa was the first person to ever tell me she was a fan.

I could tell just how genuine her words were, causing me to smile involuntarily.

Then, Sansa’s finger lightly jabbed into my cheek.

‘Were you not listening to what I said?’

‘Ah… Sorry. This is just so impressive… What did you say again?’

‘I asked if there’s anything to fix or if anything looks strange. If you like them, let’s go with this design. I’ll polish it a bit more and send it to you by tomorrow.’

‘Yes, this will do. Thank you very much.’

The only thing I could do was nod with a big smile.

After all, giving feedback requires some degree of knowledge, which I lacked.

I have no expertise in design, art, or video production.

While I might be able to appreciate it visually by saying something is beautiful or magnificent, I have no idea why it feels that way.

Instead of adding clumsy opinions, I’ll leave it to the expert.

After some thought, this seemed like the best course of action for me.

Then a sudden thought struck me.

‘Uh, how much should I pay for this? You’ve done way more than I expected…’

‘Do you really think I’ll charge you the full amount? I’ll just take the minimum. Don’t pretend you don’t know me later when you succeed.’

‘Absolutely. That won’t happen.’

‘Good. Oh, can I ask one more favor?’

Sansa grinned mischievously at me.

The small piercing near her ear twinkled for some reason.

What could it be? It’s making me a bit uneasy.

Still, Sansa’s appearance gave me the same predatory vibe as ever.

Give me back my adorable half-elf bard.

Of course, just because I could stream didn’t mean I should start immediately.

No one would even know that I had begun streaming.

Jumping straight in would only provide a harsh lesson on how cold and unforgiving the online streaming world could be.

Thus, the original plan was to make a simple post on a gaming community and start from there.

My nickname still carried some influence after all.

It would certainly attract some attention.

This was not a bad method.

However, in such a competitive market, greater reach was always preferable.

It was correct to utilize every tool at my disposal.

That’s why Sansa and Elderlyn’s offers were surely going to help.

─Despite knowing all this, my heart still wouldn’t settle.

“Da-eun! Come over here. You look too adorable! Hurry!”

“Wait… Are we really going out like this? In this getup? It feels… weird.”

“Here, lean your face in this way. Shall we do a V pose with your hand?”

“You’re not listening to me.”

By the time the cameras were all set up, I was in a broadcasting studio that was ready to go live.

Except it wasn’t on live yet.

Sansa enveloped me in a hug.

The softness of her chest against my shoulder made me blush furiously.

On the left monitor, the camera feed was already displaying the live preview.

Thus, the screen clearly showed me being embraced by Sansa.

My lips were fumbling, and my expression radiated an undeniable embarrassment.

My face was undeniably flaming red.

As always, my emotions were clearly reflected on my face.

The source of my discomfort was— the dog ears placed on my head.

And the maid uniform that had been slipped on me, somewhat forcibly.

Elderlyn and I were different sizes; why was there a perfectly fitting maid costume prepared for me?

It was truly a baffling situation.

At least Elderlyn was wearing the same outfit, which I tried to take comfort from.

Was this what it truly meant to be a seasoned professional streamer?

She took a sip of water with no particular thought and sent me a cheerful wink.

I gave up on hiding my embarrassment.

It was physically impossible.

Still, I managed to follow Sansa’s instructions and made the V sign.

The corners of my lips quivered as I forced a fake smile.

“You don’t do a V sign like that. Okay, put your hands on your cheeks.”

“Like this?”

“Yes! Now, let’s take the picture?”

“Yes…”

A person should have a sense of shame.

Sansa had done this much work for me,

and as an act of gratitude, it would be improper to refuse a few photo requests.

As I placed my V-sign hands on my cheeks, trying to produce a slightly less awkward smile,

time passed, and snap!

Initially, we took a few with just Sansa and me. Then a few more were added with Elderlyn in them.

My potential black history seemed to be on an irreversible path.

Sansa beamed with evident satisfaction.

Soon, Sansa stepped aside and the broadcast began.

I waved my hand while mustering up courage.

Today, I had chosen to make the first greeting.

“Ah, hello, woof woof… long time no see… Ow!”

I bit my tongue.

It hurt.

[Title: I’ll be doing a Rank Climbing Broadcast on Wednesday at 4 PM.]

Hello.

It’s been a while since I’ve greeted everyone.

I’ve occasionally appeared on my sister’s stream.

And every time, many people would ask why I didn’t stream my games.

Well, there were reasons, but it seems I can now.

This will be my first time showing my personal gameplay.

I’m aiming to climb the ranks consistently until I reach first place.

I’ll also share plenty of Assassin tips along the way.

Please visit often!

Karma for all the drama you’ve caused so far.

You think streaming will go well for you?

You seemed like someone who’d never stream in their lifetime, but now you’re suddenly sneaking around because you’re out of money?

There’s nothing worse than watching this kind of thing unfold.

After a few rounds, stop whining about too much sniping,

and just turn on the camera and shake your assets (for views).

You’re bound to drop out and vanish eventually anyway.

I can see your future, and it’s not bright.

└ Is that possible in that tier?

Isn’t it suspicious how many streamers keep appearing as her matches?

And isn’t that rifle a galaxy-item callout?

It looks like everyone’s just sniping right now.

If her score keeps rising like this,

pro players are bound to take notice.

– She did say she welcomes snipers, right? Haha
