Chapter 109

Chapter 109 Inspection

In the bathroom outside the venue of the Gem Theater, the panting Sister Vania looked at the smiling white-haired girl inside and froze in place.

“Companion? You… you are… that person’s…” Looking at the young girl in front of her, Vania found it hard to believe what she was seeing. This girl, who seemed even younger than herself, was actually another believer of that existence? No way!

“I think we are pursuing the same truth, aren’t we, Sister…?” Dorothy continued smiling as she looked at the wide-eyed nun before her. After receiving confirmation from Vania, she let out a sigh of relief and continued speaking.

“Sigh… I didn’t expect it to be true, and you’re even younger than me… Just now, when you were praying for help, were you the one seeking assistance?”

“Yes, I am currently investigating something and have encountered some issues. I need your help right now.”

Dorothy replied, and after a moment of silence, Vania continued.

“Investigating something… What exactly? The cub wolf you mentioned just now…”

Just as Vania was about to ask more questions, Dorothy placed her index finger on her lips, signaling for her to be quiet.

“It’s not time for a detailed explanation yet. You only need to know that this charity is under the shadow of bl**d.”

‘bl**d shadow… cub wolf… Could this refer to…’ Listening to Dorothy’s words, Vania couldn’t help but ponder internally. As a nun who studied history, she had some understanding of the secret world.

‘If it’s really like this, then things could get serious.’

“So… How can I help you?” Vania continued, although she was not very willing to take risks again, especially with matters related to other religions. However, she understood that since she had already received grace from another deity, it was impossible to completely stay out of it.

Although Vania was a follower of the Radiant Church and an extraordinary being, her status wasn’t particularly high. Like most people, she had grown up believing in the Radiant Three Saints, but that was merely the result of the religious education she had always received. With such a large church, divine graces were unlikely to fall upon her. Therefore, when the divine revelation and grace from another deity appeared, her faith had already begun to subtly change.

“It’s simple. Do you still have your invitation letter?” Dorothy continued. Hearing this, Vania was taken aback and immediately responded.

“Invitation letter? Let me see… Found it, here.” Hearing Dorothy’s words, Vania searched for a while and finally found her own invitation letter.

“Good. Now I need your invitation letter. Do you have any handkerchiefs? Wrap it up with one.”

“Handkerchief?”

Hearing Dorothy’s words, Vania, though puzzled, found a handkerchief on herself and wrapped the invitation letter before handing it to Dorothy.

“What’s the use of this invitation letter?”

“It’s too complicated to explain right now. By the way… When did you enter? Should have been with other members of the Radiant Church, right?” Dorothy took out a small pair of scissors from her bag and carefully used the tip to pinch the wrapped invitation letter, then continued asking.

“Mm, let me think… We entered early, almost an hour before the show started. I came with local church members. Is there anything wrong?”

Thinking for a moment, Vania answered, and Dorothy smiled and continued speaking.

“No problem. Just remember, if someone comes to your cabin to collect the invitation letter, say you lost it when you entered.

“Alright, time is tight, we can’t stay here long. Go back immediately. If there are other important matters, I will notify you.”

“Mm… Okay…”

Looking at the calm and serious girl, Vania responded, while also feeling a sense of awe.

‘This young believer… seems so mature… Completely unlike other girls her age. She seems even more composed than me. Could all believers of that existence be like this?’

After their final farewell, Dorothy and Vania left the bathroom at different times. Dorothy went ahead and opened the door, entering the venue. After observing the progress and general movements of the staff collecting the invitation letters, she circled the corridor twice before returning to her seat. Soon after, she saw a staff member approach her.

“Miss, please show me your invitation letter. Due to some internal issues, we need to verify it. I apologize for any inconvenience.”

Without saying much, Dorothy opened the handkerchief and handed over the invitation letter. The staff member thanked her after taking the invitation letter from the handkerchief.

“Thank you for your cooperation.”

Then, the staff member continued searching. After he turned his back on Dorothy, a tiny gecko silently crawled out of Dorothy’s bag and followed him onto the ground.

Soon, all the invitation letters were collected. The last few staff members gathered the organized invitations and left the venue together with their colleagues.

In a room designated for staff outside the venue, Bill was sniffing the bound stacks of invitation letters, one by one, which was quite efficient.

After a while, Bill finished sniffing all the bound invitation letters on the table and frowned.

“Is this all?”

Looking at the theater staff standing before him, Bill asked, and the team leader replied.

“It’s all of them. Except for the regular visitor Lady Marian and a nun from the church whose invitation letter was lost, everyone else is accounted for. No one has left the venue.”

‘Marian is a regular visitor; I know her scent. It can’t be her. As for the nun from the church…’

Bill muttered to himself, recalling the situation when he smelled scents in the corridor earlier. There were no nuns among that group, and the uniforms of clergy members were easily recognizable.

Moreover, Bill knew that the local Radiant Church members had arrived at their cabins early and could not be them either.

‘Strange… Could I have mistaken the smell then?’

Bill wondered, then he scanned the surrounding staff and said.

“You all can go back to your duties. Everything is fine now.”

“Yes…”

Following Bill’s instructions, the staff dispersed. After everyone left, Bill also exited the room, entering the venue, climbing the stairs, and walking around the seating area until he reached an upper cabin. He knocked gently and entered.

Behind him, far away on the wall, a gecko was sticking to the wall, flicking its tongue and staring at the cabin.

In the audience, Dorothy, sitting in her seat, turned her head and looked towards a distant cabin. That cabin was indeed Viscount Field’s cabin.

“Could it really be you, Viscount Charity?”
