Chapter 1097:潜梦
He walked out.
Lin Nuo opened his eyes and found himself still in that little house from before.
As for whether this was reality, he could certainly affirm that it was.
Clearly, it was now completely different from before; at the very least, the sounds of people and barking dogs outside were naturally real.
His urgent task now was to find the source of this inn’s layout before Qin Shili fell asleep and break it, so the dream trapping technique wouldn’t take effect.
Hopefully, Qin Shili hadn’t fallen asleep yet.
So, where was she now?
Well, right next to him.
They were currently sharing a bed, their bodies exposed, as if they were an old couple.
She had already fallen asleep, her breathing and pulse steady, showing no signs of abnormality.
“Wake up, wake up.”
Lin Nuo shook Qin Shili, but she didn’t respond at all.
He tried to channel Demon Qi into her, hoping to provoke a reaction from her body, but it was futile; she still didn’t wake up.
It seemed her dream had already begun. Looking at her calm face, Lin Nuo couldn’t determine what kind of dream she was having.
Her expression showed no signs of pain, so it shouldn’t be a nightmare.
He needed to get up quickly and find the source.
Lin Nuo noticed his clothes hanging nearby and immediately got up to put them on, slipping on his shoes and heading outside.
This was an ordinary inn, and it was night; there were few people on the streets, but outside, a night market produced sporadic sounds of chatter.
“Honored guest, how can I assist you?”
Seeing Lin Nuo walking out of the room, the night watchman asked.
“It’s nothing, just stepping out for a breath of fresh air. Where’s the entrance?”
“Just keep walking this way. It’s almost the middle of the night; please be careful outside, honored guest.”
“Of course.”
Lin Nuo nodded and swiftly exited the inn.
He jumped up onto the roof of the inn, observing the movements below.
It wasn’t easy to figure things out.
He jumped down and circled around the inn, trying to find some clues to break this trap.
He was very sensitive to layout formations; in just a short while, he found one of the layout points.
In a corner, very hidden, something most people wouldn’t notice, but Lin Nuo sensed the fluctuation of Demon Soul Power.
This was a point to break first.
Lin Nuo cast a spell at this point, soon unraveling it, causing the Demon Soul Power to dissipate.
It wasn’t over; he felt there were other points, so he circled again and found another hidden point, easily breaking it.
Still not done; there was another point.
Were there really this many points? How annoying.
However, Lin Nuo didn’t find any more points outside; he had checked all he could.
Were they inside?
He thought about it, then suddenly felt a pair of eyes watching him from a dark distance.
“Hmm? Am I being monitored?”
Lin Nuo looked in a certain direction; others were in the dark while he was in the light. He could be seen, but he couldn’t see who it was.
He didn’t plan to go over there to find out; he simply couldn’t leave right now.
He raised his middle finger in that direction as a sign of goodwill, then went back into the inn just in time to bump into the night watchman, who was passing by their room.
“Honored guest, you’re back so soon?” the night watchman joked.
“A breath of fresh air taken, so naturally, I came back. Hmm?”
Lin Nuo sized up this night watchman again; he looked harmless, with a cheeky grin, but something felt off to Lin Nuo.
It seemed he had an extra wave of Demon Soul Power.
“What are you doing?” Lin Nuo stopped to ask him.
“Me? Honored guest, I’m on patrol. If there’s anything—”
“How many fingers is this?”
Lin Nuo raised his middle finger at him.
“Uh, one! Honored guest, is there any—? Ah…”
Before the night watchman could finish his sentence, Lin Nuo knocked him unconscious with a punch.
“So he was holding back; it seems I underestimated him since we hadn’t clashed yet.”
Lin Nuo understood what was going on. Even though he had broken the layout points outside, this nightmare formation hadn’t vanished; its intensity was unchanged.
Because there was a new point on the night watchman; it seemed they had calculated his movements. He surmised a mobile point lurked somewhere in the corridor, ready to transfer to the night watchman and then to their room undetected.
The advantage of this method was that it was hard for Lin Nuo to detect, and the other party likely held some respect for Lin Nuo’s strength, thus being cautious in their actions.
Originally, this trap surrounded the entire inn, but now it had narrowed down to just the range of their room.
The opponent’s goal was clear; it was Qin Shili.
Lin Nuo didn’t care about the night watchman anymore and hurried back into the room. He saw Qin Shili’s calm face displaying subtle changes, seemingly reflecting her emotional fluctuations.
The other side had likely anticipated that Lin Nuo could break points, and this new point following the night watchman’s movements immediately took effect, with a limited operating time. But once Lin Nuo attempted to break it, the target would be in life-threatening danger.
This meant Lin Nuo couldn’t break this point now; he could only wait for it to fail by itself, which wouldn’t take long, but he couldn’t guarantee Qin Shili could hold out.
The opponent was quite cunning, pulling this move.
Lin Nuo opened the window, looking into the distance, and felt that somewhere far away, someone was watching him.
The other party seemed to be enjoying the spectacle, watching as Lin Nuo could do nothing but wait silently.
As a Demon Ruler, how could he allow himself to be toyed with by a child like this?
He couldn’t break this new layout point directly, but it didn’t mean he had no way to save Qin Shili.
That was to enter her dream.
But this method came with great risks.
Because it was her dream, not his; only her will could truly influence the direction of the dream.
If her spirit collapsed, then his would too.
And this was exactly what the other party intended—to lure Lin Nuo into Qin Shili’s dream, causing both of them to collapse together.
Lin Nuo considered this without a hint of panic.
As a great villain, he was in an undefeated position in a world without a protagonist.
Of course, this was just experience from his previous life; the changes in this life were too great, and he strongly suspected the author had changed the script on a whim to trap him.
No worries; he’d just go for it.
If Qin Shili were dreaming normally, he’d find it hard to enter her dream, but this was influenced by the formation, which made it easier for him to accomplish.
That meant connecting himself with Qin Shili, both of them being affected by this formation, allowing them to appear in the same dream together.
At least, that was the theory.
To be safe, Lin Nuo first laid down Dao Fu and magical symbols outside to prevent outsiders from intruding, then returned to the bed to grasp Qin Shili’s hand.
Hopefully, it wouldn’t turn out to be a bad dream.
He closed his eyes, and soon, familiar scenes appeared before him.
Tianling Mountain, Xuanyun Sect.
