Chapter 11: The Old Home Taken by Others
“Ah!”
With a swing of Yake’s sword, a scream echoed as the man on the left collapsed.
“You punk, are you looking for trouble?!”
Seeing his companion fall, the man dropped all pretense and lunged at Yake.
But his hand had already become immobilized. Realizing he couldn’t move, the man looked back at his hand, only to find it wrapped tightly by a glowing whip.
“Hmm? What’s this?”
“This is the Light Whip. Using this against scum like you is just overkill.”
Aierjisi emerged from the shadows, holding onto the other end of the whip.
“Yake, deal with that remaining guy quickly. I’ll handle this one.”
“Got it.”
Yake turned to face another trembling man. As the man saw Yake inching closer, he was so scared his legs shook uncontrollably, eventually dropping to his knees to beg for mercy, claiming he was just a petty lackey following orders.
“So you’re just doing what you’re told? Well, since you’ve done the deed, you’ve got to pay the price, right? That’s how the world of Adventurers works!”
His words did nothing to sway Yake’s resolve. Without hesitation, he swung his sword down, finishing the man in front of him.
“To beat up a little girl like that, you really are a disgusting piece of work. Are you some kind of pervert?”
Meanwhile, Aierjisi was slowly approaching the other man.
“What do you want?!”
The man had previously tried to see if he could escape the whip, but it was wrapped too tightly to break free. That little girl didn’t seem normal either; since they were after him, escaping unscathed was going to be easier said than done.
“We just want you to feel the pain that little girl experienced. Whatever you did to her, we’ll do the same to you. I’m sure you can’t object to that, right?”
“What’s that little girl to you?”
The man asked coolly. He figured he and the little girl weren’t from the same Beastman Tribe, so why were they treating him like this over a stranger? After all, he should be their kin!
“Her? She’s nothing to us, just a stranger. But we both dislike seeing that kind of thing happen, so we decided to intervene. Got a problem with that?”
“Can you let me go?”
Knowing it was a foolish question, the man still couldn’t help but ask. As long as there was even a shred of hope for survival, he wouldn’t give up.
“Hey, hey, hey! You’re a man, right? Can’t you show a little backbone? You were beating that little girl pretty hard, but now that it’s your turn, you’re cowering? What do you think I should answer to you? Don’t you get it?!”
“I guess you’re right, if that’s the case…”
Since they weren’t going to let him off easy, the man resolved to put everything on the line and fight back.
Turning around, he charged at Aierjisi with a dagger, believing this was the perfect moment for a sneak attack.
But he had no idea what kind of monster he was up against.
The moment he stepped forward, his right hand vanished from his arm.
“Wh…”
The man watched in disbelief as his right hand flew through the air, his brain unable to process what had just happened.
But before he could figure it out, a sharp pain coursed through his skull, and he couldn’t hold back his scream.
“Ah… ah!!!”
Clutching his severed arm, he fell to the ground, wailing in agony.
Just moments ago, while he had attempted to attack Aierjisi, she had mercilessly shot a magical bullet that shattered his wrist, disconnecting his right hand from his arm.
“I warned you. Whatever you did to her, I’ll do to you. If you had just accepted your punishment, you could have avoided this injury.”
Looking at the man kneeling on the ground, Aierjisi had no compassion. He had lost his right hand due to his own foolishness, which wouldn’t affect the punishment she was about to deliver.
“Wait! I realize I was wrong, I was wrong! So… please spare me.”
“Don’t make me laugh with such a bad joke. I already said, you better show some backbone. You’re a big man, after all! A little girl can handle the pain, so you shouldn’t be unable to!”
Not wanting to waste more words with this guy, Aierjisi brandished her two Light Whips and began to unleash a barrage of strikes on him.
In an instant, the forest was filled with the man’s cries. After about ten minutes, Aierjisi finally paused. The man lay on the ground, barely clinging to life.
“Is this guy dead?”
Yake walked over to check on him, worried about his state. It looked like the man might be deceased.
“No, do I look like the kind to take lives on a whim? I strike with precision. This guy is still alive, but only for now. Given his condition, I’d say it’s only a matter of time before he dies.”
The man was battered all over, with no intact flesh left. His right arm was profusely bleeding from the shattered wrist; even if he was alive now, it wouldn’t be long before he succumbed.
“So what do we do? Are you going to save him?”
“Save him? Don’t be ridiculous. Healing him would just waste my magic. This man’s fate is a result of his own actions. Even if he dies, it’s just what he deserves. By the way, how’s that girl doing?”
Aierjisi was more concerned about the Beastman girl than the man.
“She’s not in great shape. Very weak, as if she hasn’t properly rested for several days. I don’t know what these guys did to her.”
“Is that so? Yake, put her by the tree. Go get some food and water; I’ll heal her.”
If the Beastman girl was from this area, Aierjisi had a lot of questions she wanted to ask.
Why had her old home become the territory of the Beastman Tribe?
