Chapter 1109: You’re Pushing Too Hard
The more Qin Shili looked at Lin Nuo, the more she felt he was just pretending to be foolish.
It seemed this wasn’t his true self.
He must know more than he let on.
This piqued Qin Shili’s curiosity; the Lin Nuo who she thought was utterly useless now radiated a certain brilliance that drew her in.
His hidden abilities struck right at her core.
She was obsessed with the demonic path, and he could transfer that Demon Qi, which naturally intrigued her.
However, Lin Nuo wasn’t about to spill the beans that easily; having leverage meant he held the cards for negotiation.
“So, what do you want?”
Qin Shili replied coldly, rarely seeking help from others, especially those of lower rank than herself. Even now, when she appeared to be asking for assistance, she maintained an air of superiority.
“My Second Martial Sister, you’re quite ruthless. I just stated a request, and you say I’m asking for too much. How could I possibly be asking for more? Those intimate gestures, aren’t they expected? Or do you simply not regard me at all?”
Lin Nuo had put some distance between them; even if her icy aura leaked out, it couldn’t do anything to him.
Liu Shuqin, upon hearing the commotion outside, hurried out and saw Lin Nuo and Qin Shili arguing. She rushed forward to intervene.
“Junior Brother, Shili, what’s going on?”
“Nothing.”
Qin Shili retracted her chilly presence, calming herself down.
“Geez, Senior Sister, this Second Martial Sister refuses my kindness and even wants to attack me. I’m the victim here.”
Lin Nuo shrugged, still presenting that nonchalant attitude, which only made Qin Shili more annoyed, as if she were being belittled.
“Junior Brother, you know Shili isn’t interested in such matters. You two are martial siblings; you should focus on cultivation and maintain harmony.”
Liu Shuqin played the peacemaker, trying to persuade them, then glanced at Qin Shili and continued:
“Shili, this isn’t the first time Junior Brother has acted this way. You used to not get so angry; he’s just young and clueless, so don’t take it to heart.”
“I’m not angry. I didn’t refuse his kindness; he’s just toying with me.”
Qin Shili shot back, but Liu Shuqin wouldn’t be convinced; she knew Lin Nuo’s level and thought, could he really toy with someone like Qin Shili, the proud daughter of heaven?
“Shili, you must be joking. How could Junior Brother toy with you?”
“You shouldn’t advise on matters you don’t understand.”
Qin Shili retorted at Liu Shuqin, then turned sharply to Lin Nuo:
“Lin Nuo, I’ve accepted you, but your lack of sincerity and withholding information makes it impossible for me to agree to your further requests. If you can tell me what you know, I’ll naturally meet your conditions.”
“Then forget it; I don’t want to be your nominal Daoist partner.”
Lin Nuo shrugged his shoulders; he needed to temper her enthusiasm. After all, her focus was now on him, and she wouldn’t give up easily.
“Daoist partner? You, you guys…?”
Liu Shuqin was confused; how could they talk about being Daoist partners already when they hadn’t been at it for long?
Until now, it had always been Lin Nuo’s one-sided feelings, while Qin Shili had been ignoring him.
If Qin Shili truly wanted to be his nominal Daoist partner, that would surely delight Lin Nuo.
But it seemed that wasn’t the case…
“Geez, Senior Sister, this Second Martial Sister is just teasing me, saying I should treat it as being nominal Daoist partners, just self-hypnosis, thinking there’s such a status. With regard to Daoist partners, I don’t want to be involved at all; wouldn’t it be better to just reject me outright?”
Lin Nuo shook his head, acting as if he were the disadvantaged one, while Qin Shili seemed to brush him off.
“Hm… Shili just doesn’t want you to be sad. Junior Brother, don’t hold it against her.”
Liu Shuqin continued to play the good guy, the typical virtuous woman trying to maintain harmony in the sect.
But she had no idea of the actual situation; she was just giving blind advice.
Qin Shili wouldn’t consider her pursuer’s feelings; Lin Nuo had been ignored far too many times. He believed his endless persistence would eventually win over the goddess’s heart; he’d cling to her like a dog.
It could be considered loyalty if put nicely; otherwise, it was just being a doormat.
“Lin Nuo, if I agree to your request, will you tell me?”
Qin Shili showed some signs of compromise; she had no feelings regarding love and currently didn’t dislike Lin Nuo. Holding hands, hugging, or even kissing, she could accept.
As for dual cultivation? She wasn’t foolish enough to be willing to take that step.
If she could gain useful information from him, then it would all be worth it.
Lin Nuo felt like he was getting back that villain vibe.
It was like he was only one step away from seducing an innocent girl into losing herself.
But this wasn’t just any innocent girl; this was the wise Qin Shili.
Such a sense of accomplishment.
Of course, if she lost herself, he’d probably just end up as an ice statue.
He was only joking anyway; he didn’t particularly care for hand-holding, hugging, or kissing. They’d become like an old married couple already, and he was used to it; the passion just wasn’t there anymore.
It was clear how persistent Qin Shili was.
Looking at it this way, he could guide her step by step, and she wouldn’t break.
Now he had the initiative.
“Of course, but I feel you’re a bit too insistent. Insistence doesn’t bring happiness, but we can take our time to get to know each other, step by step. How does that sound?”
Lin Nuo grinned, but Qin Shili wasn’t patient enough for a gradual approach; she just wanted him to spill the beans about the Demon Qi right now.
“I’m not insistent; I’ll agree to your request. Then you’ll tell me what you know, and we can still be Daoist partners afterwards.”
Qin Shili was quite urgent, making it sound like they were making a deal: she’d sell a bit of her physical self while he’d trade information.
“Then follow me, my Second Martial Sister. Senior Sister, you stay here; I have matters to discuss with her.”
After saying that, Lin Nuo turned around, walking away from Han Fairy’s domain, with Qin Shili quickly following behind.
Liu Shuqin was left confused, not knowing what kind of act Lin Nuo and Qin Shili were putting on.
What’s with the Daoist partner talk? What’s with the revealing of secrets? It was all so baffling.
But it was extremely unusual that Qin Shili was suddenly willing to listen to Lin Nuo.
She was curious and wanted to follow them.
…
“Weren’t you the one who said you wanted to hold hands? Why are you keeping such a distance from me?”
Qin Shili attempted to catch up to Lin Nuo, but alas, he maintained a certain distance, making contact impossible.
How could he hold her hand? If he did, he’d freeze, and when it came to interrogation, he’d be finished.
As an excellent villain, he had to keep his wits about him.
“Second Martial Sister, you’re not being sincere. Holding hands wouldn’t mean anything,” Lin Nuo quipped.
“Why do you think I’m insincere?”
“It’s too obvious; you rejected me several times before. But one day, you’ll willingly give in. As for the Demon Qi you mentioned, it’s not that mysterious; the one named Cong simply wants to harm you. I’ve already hidden that Demon Qi. Hm?”
As Lin Nuo was about to reach the storage place for the Demon Qi, he found someone had gotten there first.
