Chapter 1122: Searching for Fun Places with You
“Even if I can remember you, if you’re not here, I still can’t get out. In the end, I still need you,” Qin Shili said as she walked up to Lin Nuo and gently adjusted his clothing.
“You really don’t sweat the small stuff, looking all handsome and dashing. Let me take care of these trivial matters instead,” she added, sprucing him up.
Once Lin Nuo was presentable, he looked significantly better. Not that coming down without a shirt was acceptable; just throwing on a coat really didn’t match his imposing figure.
This way, he looked even more handsome — truly the perfect man.
“I say, you don’t need to throw these polite words at me,” Lin Nuo quipped, just waking up from a dream. The image of Qin Shili now was too different from how she appeared in his dream, and he couldn’t quite adapt.
“I’m just speaking the truth. Looking back, I was indeed very ignorant; I showed no respect for your might, no wonder they could lead me around,” Qin Shili continued, leaving Lin Nuo’s ears a bit uncomfortable.
“No need to praise me. I’m not as formidable as you say. Are you feeling okay? Not running a fever, are you?” Lin Nuo reached out to touch Qin Shili’s forehead, which felt a bit chilly.
What a silly thing to do; how could touching Ruo’er’s forehead tell him anything?
“Alright then, you really are fine?” Lin Nuo asked again.
“I’m perfectly fine. But you seem to have some issues,” Qin Shili replied.
“I have issues? What issues do I have?” Lin Nuo was confused. He didn’t even know any problems with his body!
Did you suddenly become a doctor? Can you just diagnose someone like that?
“Oh yes, a big issue. Why aren’t you showering me with sweet nothings just like in the dream? Why do you have to act all cool and aloof with me now?” Qin Shili’s voice was full of melancholy, and she could still remember the sweet words Lin Nuo had said in her dream.
Things like “My Second Martial Sister” and “I like you.”
No matter how indifferent a woman normally was, when faced with her crush, she would still yearn for sweet nothings, stirring her heart deeply.
“What nonsense? What kind of nonsense are you spouting?” Lin Nuo retorted.
“Those words, don’t you find them absurd?”
“Absurd? Oh, so you’ve been tricking me, huh?”
Upon hearing this, Qin Shili’s resentment grew, and a chill began to swirl around her.
“Alright, I misspoke,” Lin Nuo quickly explained.
“The words are true, but the tone sounded fake. If you think back now, you should realize that. So, are you interested in that little useless me from back then?”
“It was your act, so naturally I was interested.”
“But you didn’t see it was an act.”
“I’m foolish and ignorant; now that I know, I’m regretful and want your forgiveness.”
“Okay, okay! Let’s not discuss this topic.”
Lin Nuo felt helpless; what was Qin Shili on about, self-reflecting like this? He hadn’t even thought to blame her.
She really was hard to fathom, not even knowing what was going on in her own head.
After all, a practitioner on the right path wanting to practice demon techniques — how could that thought process be understood?
He was forced into it! If he had her achievements, he wouldn’t even touch that stuff.
After all, he knew that practicing demon arts was the act of a villain; he was supposed to be the protagonist!
Of course, that was the thought from his past self.
“To be honest, these demon practitioners are way too greedy. If they’d attacked earlier, they wouldn’t have fallen to this extent. Just dreaming about breaking through and seizing our spiritual powers.”
Lin Nuo grumbled, kicking one demon practitioner, sending him flying a distance and leaving a pool of blood on the ground.
The bloody marks looked quite spectacular.
“Anyway, thanks for taking care of me,” Lin Nuo said.
“That kind of statement shouldn’t come from you, Lin Nuo. I’m just repaying a debt; you don’t need to thank me. However, I still hope you’ll treat me with the same attitude as in the dream, at least pretend a little,” Qin Shili requested.
“Your request is quite strange. Just thinking about it makes me a bit queasy; how can you not feel that?”
“Not queasy, it’s you! How can that be disgusting? The disgusting one is me, not you. Come on, show me! I can learn to act like I did back then!”
After saying this, Qin Shili shed her previous eager demeanor and crossed her arms, presenting herself with an air of superiority.
“Come on, hurry,” Qin Shili insisted, now laced with a commanding tone.
“You really are…”
Lin Nuo sensed trouble. Did Qin Shili awaken some strange trait?
Did she just love playing these cosplay games?
He’d better play along, don’t provoke her. Who knows what trouble could arise?
“My Second Martial Sister, you are now the object of my dreams. Is that alright?” Lin Nuo adjusted his tone, saying it smoothly as he transformed into that useless Lin Nuo character.
“Lin Nuo, repeat the question you asked earlier,” Qin Shili continued.
“What question?”
“The one where you asked me if I would marry you?”
“Then will you marry me?” Lin Nuo played along.
“Of course! Right now, let’s get married; come on, no takesies backsies.”
Qin Shili quickly grabbed Lin Nuo’s hand and headed toward Qin Zhu, saying, “Father, today I’m marrying Lin Nuo; please bless us.”
“No, no, no! Don’t go overboard!” Lin Nuo hastily stopped her. How did this escalate? He just wanted to play-act, and she was rushing ahead!
What was this nonsense about getting married — that wasn’t what he needed to consider right now!
If she got married, what about the rest?
Their relationship was complicated enough; it wouldn’t harmonize easily right now.
“Shili, why are you two being so sudden?” Qin Zhu was also stunned; Qin Shili’s actions were truly startling.
“Nothing. Father, you think I’m joking, right?”
Qin Shili released Lin Nuo’s hand; after all, Lin Nuo clearly didn’t place her as a priority.
“Lin Nuo, I was joking with you too. I’m not forcing you. After all, you definitely have other choices now; how could you fully invest your feelings in me? But I do remember your words — you promised to take me to see those fun places you mentioned; you can’t forget that.”
“There’s nothing fun left now.”
Lin Nuo grumbled; it had been two years, and those interesting places had changed — some were ruined, some were gone, and others he simply didn’t want to visit anymore.
He no longer had the same mindset as before.
“You’re backing out? So I’m not more important than that ignorant version of me? If that’s the case, why wake me up? Just let me stay lost in the dream, isn’t that better?”
Qin Shili continued her melancholic tone, and Lin Nuo felt uneasy.
Alright, she was being overly sensitive; he couldn’t say things like that to her.
He held her hand and said, “I’m saying those places aren’t fun anymore, but I can search for fun places with you.”
