Chapter 1180: She Might Like You
“Replace Ruo’er? Exchange my life for Ruo’er? Senior, what are you saying?”
Su Kexin couldn’t understand this at all. To her, Lin Nuo’s words implied that he valued his life more than Ruo’er, willing to trade his life for hers.
She was furious and intensely jealous. How could he utter such words at a time like this? All she wanted was for him to survive, yet his thoughts were consumed by Ruo’er.
For someone who adored him like she did, how could she not be angry?
“Even at this point, Senior, you’re still thinking about Ruo’er. You’re being unreasonable! Ruo’er may be trapped because of you, but you don’t need to use my death as a reason to free her. We can go together!”
“What do you mean by together? That would be looking for death! I mean them! If I go, it’s a storm of blades; those immortals will kill me! What will you do then? Kill them? Or kill me? That’s the best solution! And it’s been proven to work, because previously, those immortals let Ruo’er go because of you.”
Lin Nuo spoke calmly, but Su Kexin’s emotions were still tumultuous. How could she remain as composed as Lin Nuo?
She responded angrily, “That was then, this is now. That wasn’t me before; this is me now! We must find a better way without needing my death as a bargain. I don’t want to be involved in anything that leads back to ‘I killed Senior,’ even if it’s just a lie.”
Su Kexin was firm; even a lie about killing him was a matter of principle!
“Why are you so stubborn, like a bull? It’s just a lie; why are you so worked up? I’m also thinking about saving her myself, but it will only complicate things further. If I make myself disappear after what you just said, wouldn’t that make everyone happy? Why do you have to make this so complicated? Although I’m filled with Demon Qi, after years of trials, I can still expel it.”
Lin Nuo continued with his surface reasoning, first getting Su Kexin to save Ruo’er, then hiding himself to gradually expel his Demon Qi, allowing him to return to a normal life.
However, that wasn’t realistic. It was impossible for him to expel all that energy; even if he managed to get rid of some, living with ordinary people would eventually endanger them.
So it was highly unlikely he could live with Xia Hanmo and the others.
He just needed to trick Su Kexin into rescuing Ruo’er first.
Of course, this was just his facade, and the stubborn Su Kexin didn’t seem convinced.
“So according to you, Senior, you would hide? Never to be seen again? What would happen then? You could live like a normal person; hiding your Demon Qi would be easy. Look, you’ve been in Xuanyun Sect for so long, who could possibly detect you?”
“How could that be the same? I’m in top condition now… before, I was still in the growth stage… are you not listening to my words?”
“I… I am listening… it’s just… it feels unreasonable…”
Under Lin Nuo’s reprimand, Su Kexin’s earlier resolve wavered. After all, she had said she would follow his words, yet now, she was at odds with him, losing her confidence.
Taking a deep breath, she finally spoke in a calmer tone, “Senior, may I ask you a question… is Ruo’er the highest in your heart…?”
Su Kexin anxiously posed the question, fearing Lin Nuo might confirm that Ruo’er held the highest position in his heart.
“Is this question really that important?”
Lin Nuo asked gently, and Su Kexin nodded vigorously in affirmation.
“Yes, very important. Senior, you know I care about your opinion, especially regarding how you see me. Also, others’ places in your heart matter. But perhaps I think I might already know the answer.”
“If you already know, do you need my reply?”
“I do… I still need you to confirm it with your own mouth…”
“Then yes.”
Lin Nuo nodded, not beating around the bush. If you ask, I’ll be straightforward.
“Is it because she released you back then?” Su Kexin continued questioning.
“That’s part of it. It’s like picking the tallest among short people; I have no connection with most. So she’s slightly more important. I was supposed to be your dead enemy; you wanted to kill me. Thus, it’s only natural that her position is higher than yours.”
“Senior, you’re viewing me with the bias of the past… it’s truly infuriating! My love for you is not any less than Ruo’er’s. Just because of your past experience, I can’t compare to her… what a pity! Sometimes I think it would be nice to be your maid.”
Su Kexin sighed. Although it was regretful, it was already set, and she could only strive for the present.
The future was still in her hands.
“Senior, I just remembered, that woman seems to like you too.”
“Which woman?”
“Me, of course!”
“You ‘seem to’ like me? How insecure are you?”
“No! I meant that woman, the other me!”
Su Kexin quickly clarified. How could she lack confidence? She liked Lin Nuo; that was beyond doubt.
This struck a blind spot for Lin Nuo.
Honestly, when it came to Da Su’s feelings, it was truly an unsolved mystery.
As a man, how could he know what went on in that crazy woman’s head? He never perceived that she had any feelings for him.
If she did, she’d be a full-fledged yandere.
Now that he thought about it, it could indeed be a possibility.
She could kill him, and then he would stay with her forever.
Just the thought made a chill run down his spine.
Too frightening.
“How do you figure that out?”
Lin Nuo asked Su Kexin, trusting her insights since women understand women best.
“My intuition tells me so.”
“Your women’s intuition is truly a miraculous existence.”
“No! I mean, she told you back then, right? When you weren’t around, she couldn’t find a reason to live. Isn’t that liking you? I feel like no matter which timeline, I would still fall for you.”
“But she tried to kill me. Would you do the same? No? So she can hardly claim to have those feelings; anyone with those feelings wouldn’t act that way.”
“Well… I think that maybe she values the world a bit more than you. You can’t have both, so she chose the world. Later, she went on to save Ruo’er and fulfill your wish.”
“Why are you defending her? Didn’t you hate her?”
Lin Nuo was puzzled. What was this girl thinking?
“I don’t! I’m just saying, maybe Senior has a better impression of the past me. So, I could strive to stand on equal footing with Ruo’er; even if not, it wouldn’t be too far off.”
“You are you; she is her. Just as you said, you can’t measure yourself by her actions,” Lin Nuo replied earnestly.
