*SCREEEEEECH.*
I pushed the door open as gently as possible, but the damn thing was so old it let out a loud screech anyway.
The guys inside who were enjoying some moonlighting suddenly turned their gaze towards me.
“Who’s that?!”
“It’s him! The guy who killed Sasaki!”
“Kill him! That bastard’s got more than a few kills under his belt!”
Naked men charged at me. It was a horrifying yet oddly familiar scene.
‘Isn’t this something I’ve seen a few times in porn?’
Never thought I’d be on the receiving end of what usually happens to AV actors.
I quickly grabbed the weapon leaning against the door. The katana blade gleamed menacingly under the light.
“I didn’t want to see your naked asses…”
I decided right then and there to kill all of them.
The naked dudes hesitated for a moment when they saw me holding the sword, but soon enough they came charging again, surrounding me more cautiously this time. One against over ten. They clearly believed in the power of numbers.
‘Let me show you how meaningless those numbers really are.’
Full recovery is still on cooldown – 12 hours total, and we’re not even halfway through six yet.
Should I be careful? Nah, not when I’ve got a sword and they’re just naked and unarmed.
“SSSSSIIIIGH.”
I took a deep breath, my muscles bulging. Gripping the hilt tightly, I lunged forward into the fray.
“HAAAAA, take this all at once!”
Arms reached out from all directions. I spun around, slashing the air in a circle with my blade.
Blood and screams erupted.
“AHHHHH! My eyes!”
“My hand!!”
Panic set in among them. Fear began to spread like wildfire in their ranks. Their gazes filled with terror as they looked at me. A few of the smarter ones tried to grab weapons from beside me, but there’s no way I’d let that happen. Prioritized killing those going for weapons first, then started taking out the nearest ones.
The rest could only stand frozen in fear as they watched their comrades get slaughtered. Escape? The only exit was behind me, and the windows were way too small for anyone to fit through.
A bit of time passed.
In the end, counting myself, only three people remained alive in the workshop. And I was the only man left standing.
I stopped mid-step as I was about to approach Minegaki Jurie and Aizawa Nachiko. They were trembling uncontrollably as they stared at me. Having wiped out over ten people in just three minutes, I couldn’t blame them for being scared.
“…”
Should I kill them? Or spare them?
To be honest, I don’t feel any murderous intent towards these women.
Betrayal? I never trusted them in the first place, nor cared about them, so can it even be called betrayal?
‘Not my type anyway, no interest in raping them. Whatever happens to these bitches is none of my concern.’
If they were men, I would have killed them, but since they’re women, I decided to show mercy. Who knows, maybe they’ll give birth to some beauties in the future.
‘Besides, with the quest done, I’ll be returning to reality soon anyway.’
No matter how I looked at it, I just couldn’t bring myself to kill them. So that’s what I decided to do.
*CLANG.*
I dropped the katana deliberately. Not because my strength gave out, but because I chose to discard it. After cutting down over ten people…
The day had rotted. I needed to find another weapon. Fortunately, there wasn’t just one katana—I found two more. Maybe it’s because I’m Japanese, but I prefer katanas.
‘Guess I’ve got this too.’
A chainsaw.
It was a goddamn chainsaw.
Putting aside its actual efficiency as a weapon, the sound of the chainsaw’s engine alone is enough to invoke sheer terror in anyone. I grabbed the chainsaw and left the woodworking shop, not even sparing a glance at the two women inside.
‘They’ll figure it out on their own.’
•••
VVVVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIING!!!
The sound of the spinning chainsaw echoed through the village.
“AAAAAAAAAAH!”
One villager screamed and ran for his life. I chased him relentlessly, swinging the chainsaw. It tore into his back. Blood splattered everywhere. Wiping the blood from my forehead with the back of my hand, I kicked the corpse aside.
Up ahead, I could see the hospital. On my way here, I’d killed every villager in sight—roughly eight of them, I think.
‘Guess everyone’s dead… oh, there they are.’
Beside the hospital, near the mansion, the villagers were staging some kind of makeshift siege. They were trying desperately to break into the mansion, while the college kids inside were holding their ground, throwing rocks or swinging weapons at anyone who tried to climb the wall.
At the center of the mob stood Chief Shimada. He was calming down a dozen agitated villagers who hadn’t noticed me yet.
“There’s too much resistance. Every time someone tries to scale the wall, rocks start flying… We need more people. How’s the backup coming along?”
“We tried contacting the guys at the woodworking shop… but no response.”
“Something must’ve happened at the woodworking shop.”
“What? Nah, they’re probably just distracted by some girls. Lost track of time or something.”
“If only we had ten more people, we could all jump the wall together and overwhelm them…”
“Why don’t we just burn the mansion down? Then those brats would come running out on their own.”
“Have you forgotten whose house this is? This is the main residence of the shrine maiden. Do you really want to face her wrath?”
“…My apologies. Please pretend I didn’t say that. I must be desperate if I suggested such a thing…”
“Let’s pretend you didn’t.”
VVVVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIING!
The chainsaw roared to life. The villagers in front of the mansion turned their heads sharply toward me. They stared silently, glaring daggers, while I grinned maniacally and charged straight at them. By the time Shimada pulled out his revolver, it was already too late. I went wild, swinging the chainsaw around like a madman.
“AAAAAAAAAAH!”
Screams filled the air.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Shimada fired his revolver without hesitation, despite the villagers surrounding him. One villager standing near me dropped dead from a bullet wound. I quickly moved behind another villager, using them as cover while closing in on Shimada.
“You’re just shooting so openly. Don’t you feel bad for the villagers getting hit by your bullets?”
“Killing you takes priority.”
BANG!
The fourth bullet grazed past my head. I dropped the chainsaw and pulled out two handguns from my pocket—not revolvers, but automatic pistols.
“Guns?! What the hell?!”
“Stole them from the black-clad bastards I killed earlier. Cool, right? My aim’s crap, but at this distance, it doesn’t matter.”
With both hands gripping the twin pistols, I opened fire on Shimada. Seven bullets embedded themselves into his head and torso. I then chased after the fleeing villagers, spraying bullets wildly.
Every pull of the trigger claimed another life. At 10 meters, I might miss, but at 3 meters? Even I can land a headshot.
The streets were littered with the corpses of the villagers. Tossing away the empty guns, I walked up to the mansion.
“Anyone home?! It’s me, Eugene! All the villagers are dealt with! Open the door, please!”
“……”
No immediate response came.
As I debated whether to force my way in…
“What are you doing? Open the door.”
“…Nakagami.”
You… aren’t you scared?”
“Yuji is my boyfriend. Move. I’m going to open the door.”
“…”
The door opened.
The blonde beauty, Nakagami Lisa, saw me and grinned.
“Looking good, huh?”
I was drenched in blood from head to toe. Of course, it wasn’t mine.
“I’m glad you’re safe, Senpai.”
I stepped inside.
The club members, including our president Mori Masahiro, were all watching me warily. It was only natural. After all, I had just gunned down dozens of people right in front of them. Plus, they must be wondering why I was out there in the first place.
“Gender… The reason I couldn’t open the door immediately…”
“I understand, Mori-senpai. Someone else could have been pretending to be me.”
“…Thanks. There’s a lot I want to ask you: why you were outside, where the gun came from…”
“I’ll explain everything. But would it be okay if I took a shower first? I’m feeling pretty gross right now.”
“I’d almost prefer that myself.”
…
After finishing my shower and changing clothes, I felt refreshed.
My body was soft and clean again.
I looked at my freshly washed hands. In cartoons or movies, blood-stained hands still look bloody even after washing, but not mine. My hands were spotless, carrying the fresh scent of soap.
I entered the room where all the club members had gathered.
They watched me with tense eyes as I plopped down in the center and began telling them about this village. Everyone was shocked by my story. Some clenched their fists, trying hard not to vomit. Among them, Mori Masahiro gritted his teeth in anger.
“…So they were using humans as materials to make a drug called Blood-Dan. This village… was its factory.”
“Yes. We almost became ingredients ourselves. We also found the bodies of Tanaka-senpai, Konjo-senpai, and Sakurai-senpai in the hospital basement. If you don’t believe me, you can check the annex right now.”
“We checked the annex too. We confirmed the existence of Blood-Dan and other drugs. We did find an underground passage, but we sealed it off to prevent villagers from entering. …I never imagined there would be machinery beyond that passage…”
Mori Masahiro struggled to control his rage, likely due to a friend who disappeared last year in this village.
“In my opinion, Ooakuma Village isn’t the only one involved here. There must have been external assistance.”
“…If they’ve been producing Blood-Dan continuously… they must have been importing bodies from outside.”
“What I mean is, the external collaborators might already have surrounded the mountain below.”
“…Are we trapped in this village? If what you say is true, descending the mountain would leave us helpless against whoever is waiting for us.”
“Yes. And staying here isn’t safe either.”
“They could come up into the village.”
Mori Masahiro sighed heavily. Everyone’s expressions were grim.
“There is a way.”
“…A way?”
“The person responsible is the shrine maiden. If we capture her… we might find a solution. More than that, if we can contact the outside world… we can inform them of these horrific events and seek help.”
“Maybe the Japanese government is in on it?”
“If the Japanese government won’t help, we can reach out to America or Korea.”
“…We’re in Japan.”
“If word gets out about Blood-Dan, do you think America and Korea will sit idly by? Especially Korea, given their bad relationship with Japan.”
Everyone fell silent, contemplating.
“…It’s possible.”
Hudo Jun said. The others’ eyes lit up with renewed hope. None of them wanted to die here.
After further discussion, we reached a conclusion.
We would go to the shrine, capture the shrine maiden, threaten her, and try to contact the outside world. Even if she doesn’t cooperate, holding her hostage would still give us leverage.
