Chapter 12. What Exactly is Erasure
Lin Nuo was entangled by the black-clad men. Having experienced many battles, he cleverly dodged their ambush with his agile movements.
It seemed that before trying to kill the protagonist, he first needed to ensure his own survival.
The best way to protect a supporting shooter was to wipe out the enemy, while the villain’s best defense was to eliminate the opponent.
Lin Nuo quickly retreated to the side. Seeing him fleeing, the black-clad men, familiar with the terrain, realized Lin Nuo aimed to circle around that row of large trees to confuse them. With his experience, he predicted Lin Nuo’s position and swung his blade.
Sure enough, Lin Nuo burst out from behind a tree trunk, and the sharp blade struck him from the side.
Assassination, end.
However…
The blade passed right through, but there was no blood in sight.
“Phantom?!”
He realized what was happening, but just then someone emerged from behind him.
“Goodbye.”
The long sword swung down.
The black-clad man, dead.
Lin Nuo wasn’t satisfied and stabbed him a few more times, confirming he was really done for.
“So weak.”
Lin Nuo sheathed his sword and kicked the dead black-clad man to flip him over, searching his clothes.
“Hm? What’s this, Demon Sect?”
Lin Nuo pulled out a metal badge from the black-clad man’s attire, emblazoned with the Demon Sect’s symbol.
“No wonder, the Heavenly Grade Demon Dragon and the White Mist are all your doing. I suppose the chaos in the Wind Sea Forest was also initiated by you.”
Lin Nuo’s lips twisted into a cold smile. The Demon Sect was notorious—a villainous faction that forged magical artifacts, tamed demon beasts, and practiced forbidden arts that harmed the world.
When Lin Nuo first turned to darkness, he joined the Demon Sect as a minor disciple. Later, he improved his prowess and left to go solo; thus, his relationship with the Demon Sect wasn’t one of enemies, yet it wasn’t friendly either.
With the Demon Sect showing up, this could work out perfectly. When he killed Su Kexin, he could just pin the blame on them.
Let’s call you the Blame Sect.
Lin Nuo also found a compass on the black-clad man.
“Good heavens, so you have one too. Hm? It seems different.”
Comparing the two compasses, Lin Nuo noticed the black-clad man’s compass only had four green dots: Zhou Jianhu, Zhao Yuedong, Liu Shuqin, and Su Kexin.
His own compass displayed seven green dots, including his own.
The black-clad man’s green dots were moving, whereas his compass was frozen, none moving at all.
“So that’s it. When the White Mist appeared, our compass showed it had stopped functioning. The real compass readings are all in the hands of these Demon Sect people. Have Guan Lei and Xu Yu Dong vanished into thin air?”
Lin Nuo had suspected something was off with their green dot positions. Now seeing the black-clad man’s compass, it confirmed his suspicions; their green dots were gone.
“Forget about them, let’s catch up with Su Kexin first.”
Lin Nuo followed the compass to chase after Su Kexin when suddenly four black-clad men sprang out, surrounding him from all sides.
They brought their hands together, their eyes sharp.
“The killer of Number Seven has been confirmed.”
“The Demon Restraint Formation is set.”
“Infuse spirit.”
One announced, and the four joined hands, fingers pointing to the ground, infusing their spirit power. A black magic formation appeared beneath Lin Nuo’s feet.
The Demon Restraint Formation was designed to bind the limbs of those caught within, making escape difficult.
“Erasure.”
The four infused their spirit once more. Boom! The entire formation erupted violently, igniting fierce flames.
Clean and decisive, no dragging things out.
“The target shows no signs of resistance, certain to perish. Continue executing the mission.”
The black-clad men were about to leave, but to their surprise, they still saw Lin Nuo standing unharmed in the center of the flames.
“How is this possible…”
The black-clad men were shocked. Their combined Demon Restraint Formation could usually trap and even annihilate cultivators above the sixth realm. Seeing that the youth before them was barely around the third realm, he should not have withstood the formation’s attack.
But now…
They noticed a small circle around Lin Nuo, untouched by the flames.
The four had never failed to enact the Demon Restraint Formation; it always killed without exception.
Lin Nuo shrugged, a cold smirk on his face. “Four-man Demon Restraint Formation, smooth execution, solid basics—just a bit lacking in heat.”
“How can you… how could you be unscathed…”
The black-clad men found it hard to believe. The central circle of the formation had endured without a scratch; it simply defied logic.
“The magic formation is interconnected; as long as I sever part of it, it becomes useless.”
Lin Nuo replied coldly. The black-clad men listened, perplexed. How could anyone trapped not be able to move a limb sever the formation?
The only possibility was that he had an exceptionally high level of cultivation.
“You’re hiding your strength.” One of the black-clad men questioned.
“Thinking too much.” Lin Nuo chuckled coldly. “I simply understand the Demon Restraint Formation better than you.”
The black-clad men thought Lin Nuo was talking nonsense; how could a Xuanyun Sect cultivator, who hadn’t even touched demonic techniques, understand the essence of the Demon Restraint Formation?
Bull! Just sheer nonsense.
“The plan has changed. Continue executing the kill order.”
The four black-clad men once again scattered, surrounding Lin Nuo, darting around to try to distract his attention.
Lin Nuo drew his long sword again.
“Let me teach you what true erasure is.”
