Chapter 1217: I Don’t Want to Be Emperor Anymore
Luo Xiaoxue’s desires were more intense than ever, a culmination of her long-awaited reunion with Lin Nuo, finally bursting forth.
Naturally, Lin Nuo couldn’t afford to indulge her too much; returning home would be troublesome, with several others to appease, where would he find the energy for them all?
As for his yang-enhancing techniques, progress remained elusive, and the legendary battlefield of the war god still lived as a mere dream.
“Well, according to that messenger, you are the key.”
Lin Nuo attempted to shift the topic, still unwilling to engage in vigorous activities with Luo Xiaoxue, even though her figure was exceptionally enchanting, radiating a wife-like allure. He had to restrain himself from getting carried away.
Preserving his strength, sharing the love equitably, he couldn’t afford to burn out before achieving great things.
He would have to procure more yang-enhancing medicine upon returning; after all, he needed to at least pretend.
“I say, what are you hiding from? Last time, your vigor was far greater than now. To me, you should have endless energy. If you can calm the world, surely dealing with me is a piece of cake! Come on, use all your skills! Just make sure I can’t get out of bed afterward!”
Luo Xiaoxue licked her lips, eagerly anticipating the upcoming developments, excited to enjoy her beloved man’s affection.
Lin Nuo replied, “…I’ve been busy lately, a bit fatigued, not at my best for now.”
“Fatigued? I’ll have the royal chef brew you some nourishing soup. You’ve worked hard, so stay here to rest. This is your home, and the world is yours too.”
Luo Xiaoxue climbed back onto Lin Nuo, caressing his handsome face.
That face was just too stunning, paired with a uniquely captivating soul—how could anyone not fall in love?
“Here, I probably won’t stay for long. As I just mentioned, I must seal the crack in the Sacred Realm, not to mention the Demon Realm; otherwise, the world will plunge into chaos.”
Lin Nuo said seriously. He wasn’t here to be emperor; he came to consult her, and at times, she would need to step in.
“Then where will you go when you leave? At least tell me something. Do you have any idea how much I’ve missed you? I increasingly long for you; I even dream of you. And you just up and leave. Sigh, I’ve suddenly realized being emperor is not that great. If you’re not around, what’s the point?”
Luo Xiaoxue began to vent like a jilted lover, complaining that she thought being emperor would fit Lin Nuo, but now realized that even if she fit him, it meant nothing without him by her side. It was better when she was a princess, able to wander the world with him.
“Your destiny is to be an emperor.”
“What destiny? I want to abdicate the throne and travel with you; I don’t want to be emperor anymore.”
Luo Xiaoxue cutely pouted in front of Lin Nuo, now waiting for his answer. If he said yes, she would follow him; she didn’t care about the throne anymore. After all, there were capable individuals in the royal family; she could completely step aside for them.
“Traveling around… There’s something I need to tell you. Your powers could potentially pose a threat to demons. And I am, in fact, one.”
“A threat? We’ve shared a bed, if there were a threat, it would have arisen long ago. Are you just making excuses to reject my company?”
Luo Xiaoxue was unconvinced; where was the threat? There was no basis for it.
“A threat implies a hidden danger, it doesn’t mean it’s a definite harm. Just because it’s absent today doesn’t mean it won’t exist tomorrow,” Lin Nuo continued.
“Then how can we eliminate it? I’ll listen to you. If it’s a threat, let’s eliminate it. I don’t want to possess it anymore.”
“Not yet…”
Lin Nuo replied softly, reaching a knowledge blind spot; this problem resembled Su Kexin’s explosive capabilities—truly a century-old conundrum. He wasn’t a deity; if it could be eliminated, it would have been gone by now.
“But you needn’t worry; there will definitely be a solution. Your abilities, however, are useful, like sealing the cracks in the Sacred Realm, and when necessary, it could resist the demons from the Demon Realm. Currently, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.”
“If it poses a threat to you, it will always be a disadvantage. That’s undeniable. What if one day it threatens your life? What’s the point? Why is this happening? We just started to fall in love, and yet there seems to be a barrier.”
Luo Xiaoxue felt increasingly distressed, on the verge of tears. Finally, Lin Nuo had returned, and yet this was the outcome—her heart ached.
“Sigh, don’t overthink it; there will be a way.”
Lin Nuo quickly embraced her, offering comfort. After all, nothing a good hug couldn’t fix; if something remained, then another hug!
Indeed, that embrace offered Luo Xiaoxue quite a bit of solace, filling her with security. She naturally tightened her grip on him, not wanting him to leave.
“I want to follow you. I don’t want to stay here anymore. Please answer me—can I come? If not, then let me give up on this hope. You keep roaming the world, while I’ll stay here to be emperor. Let’s pretend we never met…”
Though Luo Xiaoxue said this, how could she easily forget Lin Nuo? She remembered their fateful first meeting; she had been an unambitious little princess, with little status in the palace, but cherished memories alongside Lin Nuo that were worth a lifetime of reminiscence—how could she simply forget?
Unforgettable.
But what could she do? He was unwilling to take her along, nor stay; the separation was painful. Thinking this way, maybe she wasn’t that important after all.
“Of course, but… the companions have demons, you might…”
“Then I’ll just keep my distance from them. As long as I can be with you!”
“It sounds easy, but traveling together while acting separately doesn’t really make sense.”
Lin Nuo pondered for a perfect solution; it was truly a century-old conundrum. He had to bring these people along, without considering if they could peacefully coexist, their attributes and capabilities were inherently opposite—perhaps it could lead to an explosive situation.
But while he was deep in thought, he suddenly sensed something was off.
“Nearby, someone’s eavesdropping.”
Lin Nuo became alert, leaning in to whisper in Luo Xiaoxue’s ear.
“Who? An assassin?” she whispered back.
“Doesn’t seem like it. Let’s continue our discussion.”
Lin Nuo raised his voice to resume the previous topic with Luo Xiaoxue. She cleverly caught on and matched his volume, while he spoke, he quickly changed his clothes, and Luo Xiaoxue made space to prepare.
Once he was dressed, he dashed out the window, discovering someone indeed lurking nearby, eavesdropping on their conversation.
Lin Nuo couldn’t see the person’s face clearly, only noticing that they wore a strange white robe, slinking around. Upon spotting Lin Nuo, the figure hurriedly made to retreat.
Lin Nuo activated his Wind Technique to speed after them, thinking that they were definitely not palace personnel, perhaps not even human.
Previously, he had discussed with Luo Xiaoxue about similar individuals infiltrating the palace.
