Chapter 1225: Defeating the Fierce Beast
It was charging right at us.
Seeing the fierce beast looking crazed and ferocious, Lin Nuo was determined to draw it away, preventing it from chasing after Luo Xiaoxue.
But things didn’t go as planned; the creature was locked onto her. No matter what bait he tried to use, it was all for naught.
The situation was a bit dire.
“Forget it, I’ll just take her away first.”
Lin Nuo realized the urgency and took Luo Xiaoxue back from the other girls.
“Its target is her, plain and simple. I have to get her out of here.”
He wrapped his arms around Luo Xiaoxue and flew into the air on his sword, spinning around as the fierce beast relentlessly pursued them without losing any speed.
“This thing must be a Sacred Beast, right? But it’s so vicious, it’s practically a Demon Beast.”
Lin Nuo complained, thinking that it had mutated and was nothing like its supposed species. Sacred? It looked like it came straight out of hell with all that blood-red around.
“Are you okay? Say something!”
He lightly patted Luo Xiaoxue’s shoulder, and the exhausted girl responded with some difficulty:
“I… I’m… okay…”
“Okay my foot, just don’t talk. We can’t go back to the Royal Palace now; I’ll have to deal with that beast.”
Lin Nuo held Luo Xiaoxue tightly as he carefully maneuvered his sword, afraid she might fall, and that the fierce beast would open its massive jaws to catch her—she would be done for.
“I have two talismans left.”
Lin Nuo pulled out two symbols from his clothes, thinking they might just trigger the Punishment of the Sinful Beast.
A specialized skill for beast-fighting, once you use it, you’ll fall in love with it.
But how to get close was an issue.
After all, it wasn’t a one-on-one situation when he was carrying a girl.
And this girl carried the risk of being purified as well.
Of course, that was an extreme pessimistic view; it wasn’t quite to that point yet.
“I guess it’s time to operate on two fronts.”
Lin Nuo summoned a second sword, flying beside him.
This sword would be used to carry Luo Xiaoxue; though it was a bit risky, he had to give it a try.
Operating on two fronts, one sword would support Luo Xiaoxue while he drew the beast’s attention, then he would make his move.
This multitasking was quite a test of skill.
But this was him; no matter how difficult, he could make it work.
“Just lie still and don’t move.”
Lin Nuo cast a wind wall near the sword holding Luo Xiaoxue, keeping her secure, effectively wrapping her in a shield of wind.
The “Wind Joy Hero” skillfully manipulated wind techniques to perfection.
“Lin, Lin the Knight, don’t, don’t leave me…”
“You’re struggling, so just stop talking. It’ll be fine, trust me.”
Lin Nuo gently stroked her head and then prepared to charge in.
The dual swords maneuvering began.
Quickly, the other sword lifted Luo Xiaoxue, and sure enough, the fierce beast lunged for her while Lin Nuo seized the opportunity to close in.
Of course, he couldn’t let his guard down; he had to watch Luo Xiaoxue while also keeping an eye out for the beast’s possible counterattack.
“This damn beast is surprisingly fast.”
Lin Nuo hurriedly used his techniques to control the second Spirit Sword, carrying Luo Xiaoxue while flying. The fierce beast continuously gave chase, but still couldn’t catch up to her.
Lin Nuo followed closely behind, intentionally allowing the Spirit Sword to maneuver toward him.
Okay, he was in close range now.
The fierce beast was ethereal, with a half-physical, half-ghostly form, and getting close to it felt hot and slightly bloody. Most would be put off by the stench of blood.
But someone like Lin Nuo, who was used to violence, found the blood scent rather pleasant.
“It seems like it’s been tainted by a Blood Curse.”
As Lin Nuo approached, his suspicions were confirmed.
This was a Sacred Beast, but it had been contaminated by a Blood Curse or a similar Spirit Technique.
It was no longer pure.
So the question was, where did it get tainted?
Or rather, where was this aura coming from?
He needed answers, and they should be close at hand.
“Alright, it’s time for you to kick the bucket.”
Lin Nuo slapped the two talismans on the beast, doubling the power to ensure it wouldn’t escape death; otherwise, it would all be a waste.
The fierce beast hadn’t noticed he had stuck two talismans on it yet and was still chasing after Luo Xiaoxue, while the Spirit Sword danced around, sometimes moving fast, sometimes slow, sometimes making sudden stops, teasing the beast.
“Punishment of the Sinful Beast.”
Lin Nuo muttered those words, and a bolt of heavenly lightning descended from above, striking the fierce beast directly.
Boom!
With a deafening roar, the menacing appearance of the beast vanished as it fell from the sky, the surrounding atmosphere beginning to dissipate.
Lin Nuo had cleverly chosen the spot; the beast fell without striking the Royal Palace and wouldn’t crash into the city—only plummeting to the outskirts.
Now he had to consider whether it would crush anyone; times had changed.
The townsfolk were in a panic, wondering what massive creature was about to fall from the sky!
Oh no, was it the end of the world?
They scampered about, bracing for impact, but the fierce beast landed beyond the outskirts, allowing them to narrowly escape disaster.
“Alright, it’s safe now. Sorry for scaring you.”
Lin Nuo quickly summoned the Spirit Sword back and checked Luo Xiaoxue’s condition.
After the beast was knocked out, her condition began to improve; she was slowly able to stand and speak more easily.
“You seem to be feeling better.”
“Lin the Knight, what about that fierce beast…”
“It fell down. Let’s go check out what it was.”
Lin Nuo soared toward the location where the beast had dropped, only to find it had vanished, as if someone had taken it away.
Then they spotted a figure in ceremonial robes darting away; it was too dark to see what kind of robes they were wearing.
“It seems someone indeed released that creature; looks like you’re going to be busy in the days ahead.”
Lin Nuo remarked, then flew back to the Royal Palace with Luo Xiaoxue.
“Let’s find your father.” Lin Nuo said.
“My father? Does he know what’s going on?”
“He might know. Even if he doesn’t, it’s fine; any clues would be helpful.”
Lin Nuo said, knowing that old man might have some insight; he needed to find out.
Or perhaps Mu Yiting might know something too; they could ask her about it.
Lin Nuo looked down from above to confirm that the other girls were safe and then felt relieved. He didn’t rush to join them, opting to find the Taishang Huang first.
However, when they went looking, they couldn’t find him either.
Lin Nuo suspected he might be in the secret passage, since he would usually come out at night to guard the palace.
However, they had just seen he didn’t come out to guard the palace; not even a trace of him had been found.
Maybe he had gone to take a bathroom break or something.
Lin Nuo and the others headed to his room; he remembered how to activate the mechanism for the secret passage. After a few quick actions, it opened up.
They entered the passage, but there was no sign of his physical body.
