Chapter 124: Finally Getting Started
“Oh? Is the Celebration Feast finally starting?”
Noticing that all the lights in the hall had turned off, Weirafiya and Aierjisi both looked up. Back on Earth, this was a common way to signal the beginning of something special, followed by unique lights shining on the host while they rambled on with a bunch of fluff to officially announce the feast.
Sure enough, just as they thought, the lights were dimmed in the hall, and a spotlight shone on the podium.
Dressed in a white suit, Gaia stood there, accompanied by Ailin in a blue gown, both beaming at everyone in the feast.
“Good evening, everyone.”
“Your Majesty, we all know each other well, so cut the formalities and get straight to the point.”
No sooner had Gaia finished his first sentence than someone in the crowd grew impatient. They wanted Gaia to skip the chit-chat and announce the start of the Celebration Feast right away.
“Oh dear, someone’s eager! So, I assume you all want me to skip to the important stuff?”
“We don’t even need to say it, of course, we want you to get to the point!”
The response was a chorus of shouts from the audience. All were familiar faces of Gaia, so there was no need for unnecessary pleasantries. Just hit the highlights!
“Alright then, I’ll get straight to it. As everyone knows, a few days ago, our kingdom was targeted by a demon named Diablo, and the reason? He wanted to steal my wife, Ailin. Unfortunately, I wasn’t strong enough to defeat him, and Ailin got taken away.”
Gaia’s face reflected pain as he recalled that moment. If he had just been a bit stronger, they wouldn’t be in this situation now.
“However, even though Ailin was captured, I never gave up. Every moment, I’ve been thinking about how to rescue her. Just when I was deep in thought, two messengers arrived in my kingdom, willing to help me save Ailin. And yes, those two messengers are sitting right here in this hall. Would you all like to know what they look like?”
“Do we even need to ask? Of course, we want to know!”
Uh-oh, that ominous feeling was growing stronger!
“Weirafiya, should we hide under the table or something?”
“I’m feeling the same, Aster, the rest is on you.”
“I’m with you too, Yake, you better show off your skills!”
“Hey, what are you two planning to do?”
Hearing their conversation sounded like they were ready to bail and leave the mess for Aster and Yake to handle.
“Those two messengers? They are them.”
In a flash, just as they dove underneath the table, the spotlight zoomed in on their table, illuminating Aster and Yake.
“Wow, this light is so bright! Can’t we turn it off first? Or at least shine it from a different direction?”
“Yake, you better get used to it; for me, this light is nothing special.”
“But I just can’t take it!”
Maybe for Aster, it wasn’t much, but for Yake, this kind of brightness was hard to bear.
“Huh? Why are there only you two? Where did those girls go?”
Gaia and Ailin were a bit bewildered to see only their servants left behind.
“Ah? Those two? They’re right under the table!”
Yake pointed at the other table beneath it.
They were indeed hiding under the table like that.
“Hey, what are you doing down there? It’s a Celebration Feast, not hide-and-seek!”
Ailin walked over, lifted the tablecloth, and gazed at the two little lolis hiding beneath.
“Listening to your conversation made me feel something was off, so I knew you’d shine the lights on us.”
“Same here! Given that, we thought it wise to hide away. But we didn’t account for our unreliable servants, so here we are, getting sold out!”
Unlike Ailin, Weirafiya and Aierjisi disliked crowds and certainly didn’t want all that attention on them.
After all, they originally were just gaming couch potatoes… facing so many people and gazes was asking too much.
“But do you think you can hide forever? Come on out; it’ll be better to face it early rather than later!”
Ailin reached for their arms and pulled them out from under the table.
“Let me introduce you all! On the left we have Weirafiya and her servant Aster. On the right we have Aierjisi and her servant Yake.”
Holding the two little lolis firmly, preventing them from escaping, Ailin introduced the messengers to everyone in the hall.
“Ouch! Ailin, not so tight, or you’ll break our arms!”
Feeling the pain in their arms, Aierjisi and Weirafiya protested.
No wonder she was the Princess of the Ice Dragon Clan; even in human form, her strength was pretty unreal.
“Ah… sorry, got a bit too excited. Had to prevent you two from running away, so I might have squeezed a bit harder than intended.”
That was a “bit”?
After freeing their arms from Ailin’s grip, Weirafiya and Aierjisi instinctively took a few steps back from her.
*Ahem*, “Thanks for the introduction, Ailin! It’s because of the help of these two messengers that our operation was successful. Of course, that doesn’t mean the rest of you did nothing. This victory was thanks to everyone’s efforts. As the King of Panimir, I greatly appreciate you all for helping rescue Ailin. Thank you all so much!”
“I also deeply appreciate everyone’s assistance in the rescue efforts. I’m also grateful to my father for the decision that allowed me to meet all of you. While it may seem a tad late to say this now, I still wanted to express it.”
Ailin paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and said what was on her mind.
“Coming to this kingdom and marrying Gaia was one of the happiest and luckiest moments of my life. Meeting all of you has been a great fortune. Thank you!”
*Clap Clap Clap!!!*
As soon as Ailin finished her words, the hall erupted into enthusiastic applause. It was loud enough that Aierjisi and Weirafiya felt their eardrums might burst.
“Then, I declare the Celebration Feast officially started! Don’t hold back, enjoy the food and drinks!”
“Did we even need you to say that? We haven’t had a Celebration Feast in ages, so of course we’re going to feast today!”
The responses from the crowd echoed exactly the enthusiasm Gaia hoped for.
