Chapter 1241: Arrival
Watching hordes of Demon Practitioners surge towards them like zombies, Lin Nuo couldn’t help but worry whether the Sword Saint could hold on.
However, his concerns were unfounded; the Sword Saint was truly giving it his all, the sword array emitting an extremely bright light, as if formed by holy swords.
Ruo’er once again felt reassured by her father’s reliability; apart from Lin Nuo, the Sword Saint was the most trustworthy person in her eyes.
The Sword Saint was also striving to be a competent father. Although he wasn’t good with words, he continuously showcased his love for Ruo’er in his own way.
Dao Yuan’s Spirit Cat hadn’t done magic for a long time, so suddenly casting a spell was somewhat strenuous. It felt like it might collapse if it continued.
Having lived long enough, it didn’t mind too much; if it could help the younger generation a little, it would do just that.
At this moment, the whirlwind grew stronger, and Lin Nuo sensed he might truly get sucked in.
“Almost there, just hold on a little longer.”
Dao Yuan’s Spirit Cat clenched its teeth, pouring all its spiritual power into making this Spirit Technique successful, throwing caution to the wind.
“Slaughter.”
As the Sword Saint uttered those two words, in an instant, one sword transformed into many, endlessly splitting like a thousand soldiers on horseback, a barrage of long swords raining down from the sky like a meteor shower, decimating the advancing Demon Practitioners.
“Good, it’s going to succeed.”
Dao Yuan’s Spirit Cat became excited; finally, Lin Nuo disappeared into the whirlwind, and then the whirlwind vanished.
“Senior, how are you?”
Liu Shuqin hurriedly picked up Dao Yuan’s Spirit Cat; it had exhausted too much energy and could barely move.
“I’m fine, not dead yet. Let’s hurry and retreat; the number of these Demon Practitioners is too overwhelming.”
“Mm, understood.”
Everyone complied with Dao Yuan’s Spirit Cat’s orders and quickly withdrew. The Demon Practitioners wandered back and forth where the whirlwind had appeared, yearning to be transported too.
Obviously, they were overthinking it.
“Master, when will we be back…”
Ruo’er was anxious. If Dao Yuan’s Spirit Cat was right, Lin Nuo would need to correspond with the array over there, then he truly might not return.
“Ruo’er, there will always be a way. Today we had a senior’s assistance; one day, Lin Nuo will encounter other noble ones too. We just need to wait.”
Liu Shuqin gently stroked Ruo’er’s head; with Lin Nuo away, she had to take good care of Ruo’er.
“That place…”
Luo Xiaoxue murmured; at the moment the whirlwind appeared, she too was thinking about going over.
Lin Nuo going was one thing, but on the other hand, her heart urged her to go.
Would she see a different world there and meet a different self?
What exactly exists in the kingdom she belonged to?
…
“Is it too much to ask for a better starting point?”
Lin Nuo fell into the water, which had a horrible smell.
He quickly jumped out of the water, looking around; nearby were the corpses of various strange creatures.
“Looks like there was a fierce battle here.”
He first used Wind Technique to dry himself off. Thankfully, it was ordinary water, not poison; otherwise, he’d have to expend energy to deal with toxins, which would be quite the drain.
What a familiar feeling.
He was sure he had arrived at the border of the Three Realms, as he sensed an increase in the intensity of Spirit Techniques.
This place suited him well. He presumed he wouldn’t lag behind if he fought the demons in the Demon Realm.
It was like an oasis in a desert; however, this area was stained by battle, the water was all polluted, and completely undrinkable.
He needed to address the water source issue; as for food, there were plenty of fierce beasts around.
He wasn’t picky; as long as it was cooked, he could eat it.
As for how to find Qin Shili and get back, surviving came first.
After all, he had lived in the wild before, so he figured survival shouldn’t be a problem.
His concept of this world was still quite vague; if only he had a map, it would be perfect, but where could he find a map?
Surely, a system wouldn’t pop out of nowhere, right?
“System, are you there?”
No answer.
Great, he wasn’t in a system-type story anyway; first, he would explore the nearby area.
Lin Nuo walked along the lake, surrounded by corpses, battle signs everywhere—it seemed there was never-ending war, no matter where he went.
“Found it.”
While walking, Lin Nuo indeed discovered a new water source, water gushing from underground. He didn’t know where it came from but checked it with his technique—no poison, usable.
He drank a few sips to quench his thirst.
“This water is quite sweet.”
Whether it was an illusion or not, it looked like ordinary water but tasted sweet.
After drinking, Lin Nuo hit the road; he had no direction, deciding to leave it to fate.
He picked up a stick, stood it upright, and let it fall.
Alright, it pointed west.
So, off he went west?
Then let’s go.
Lin Nuo headed west and discovered some hunters.
Their skin was purple, clearly not human. Lin Nuo initially speculated they were demons.
“They’re all dead; nothing to see, let’s take them back.”
“Sigh, how long will this war go on? No way to return home.”
“Stop the nonsense, eat while you can. The Handa Alliance has gone mad, invading and plundering everywhere.”
As those hunters grumbled, they picked up the fierce beasts on the ground; they dragged back whatever they could while they still could.
With someone around, Lin Nuo thought it would be a good chance to ask them a few questions.
“Who’s there!”
They noticed him, and Lin Nuo jumped out from behind a tree.
“This is… a demon? How come he’s a bit different from us?”
The demon hunters were surprised to see Lin Nuo; they had never seen this kind of demon before.
“Are you from the Demon Realm?”
“Yes, I come from the Demon Realm.”
Lin Nuo nodded, trying to get close to them; he couldn’t very well say he was from the human world.
“Why have I never seen a demon like you before?”
“There are many demons in the Demon Realm; I belong to a rare tribe, so it’s normal you haven’t seen me.”
Lin Nuo said, gradually approaching the demon hunters.
“I passed by here and wanted to know what happened; why are there so many dead magical beasts?”
“There’s a water source here, but it’s occupied by a group of magical beasts. The Handa Alliance sent troops to battle them, and they both suffered heavy losses, which is why you see so many corpses of demons and magical beasts.”
“I’ve heard you mention the Handa Alliance. What have they done?”
“Are you really from the Demon Realm? You don’t even know about this?”
“I’ve only heard a little; I’m not quite clear on the details.”
Lin Nuo was quite polite, asking them in a friendly manner.
“The Handa Alliance is a coalition of demons from the Demon Realm and the Sacred Realm; it’s said they’re looking for humans to invade the Three Realms now. The Demon Realm is in chaos; many have fled here, only for the Handa Alliance to come and try to occupy all the territory, wanting all the demons and refugees from the Sacred Realm to submit. Sigh, I suggest you leave here quickly; when they arrive, it’ll be trouble.”
“Okay, I understand. Have you seen a silver-haired demon woman? I can’t exactly call her a demon; she’s half human and half demon.”
“A silver-haired demon woman? Haven’t seen her. But you could check in the city; many strange foreign demons have come there.”
