Chapter 1242: Handa Sweep
“City? There’s a city here?”
Lin Nuo was a bit curious; it looked like a desert, sparsely populated, and there was a city?
“Indeed, if you head west, you’ll find an ancient city filled with many demons from the Demon Realm. Originally, it was home to local demons, but now, under the Handa Alliance’s regime, life has become unbearable for them, so many demons have migrated over, leading to higher tolerance for all sorts of demons. But it seems like the Handa Alliance has set its sights on that place. Sigh, they either have to leave or serve the Handa Alliance.”
“Got it. What currency is used here?”
“Currency? There are quite a few types, but usually, the currency from the Demon Realm is the most common. You should have some, right?”
“I lost mine on the way here.”
Lin Nuo replied, claiming he had no demon coins, only human currency.
But he couldn’t just pull it out; if someone recognized he was from the human world, he’d surely run into trouble.
They talked about local demons and demons from the Demon Realm, but no one mentioned demons from the human world. Perhaps to them, human demons were at the very bottom of the hierarchy.
“I have some magical items; would it be possible to exchange them for some currency?”
Lin Nuo took out his homemade magical items. The demons looked intrigued and thought it would work.
“We don’t have much money left either; could we exchange a little?”
“Sure.”
Even if it meant taking a loss, Lin Nuo agreed. Better safe than sorry; he couldn’t very well pawn his magical items just to buy a bun.
After the trade, Lin Nuo made his way to the ancient city in the west. Along the way, he saw many corpses, both of demons and magical beasts. There was a severe amount of chaos and killing here; the ground was littered with bodies. By nightfall, it would be filled with various mournful sounds that sent chills down his spine.
“Is that it?”
Lin Nuo spotted the ancient city. There were various merchants trading there, similar to the western cities of the human world, except the inhabitants were demons. Some had horns, some had purple skin, and some had fangs protruding from their mouths—but most walked on two feet like humans.
Since there were so many types of demons here, even if he was a human demon, he wouldn’t stick out. The demons passing by didn’t find him odd; everyone was accustomed to seeing all kinds of demons.
“This is good; otherwise, it would be troublesome to be treated as an oddity.”
The ancient city was neither too big nor too small; finding someone wasn’t that easy.
“Excuse me, have you seen a demon that looks like me? She has silver-white hair.”
“No, there are too many demons here; I haven’t seen her.”
……
Lin Nuo asked a lot of demons but didn’t get satisfactory results; they all said they hadn’t seen her.
It seemed she hadn’t come to this city. Time to move on and not waste further time.
Just as Lin Nuo was about to leave, the last little merchant chimed in:
“I think I’ve seen the demon you described! Just a couple of days ago, she entered the city, but I don’t know where she is now. She was quite pretty.”
“Okay, I understand. Thank you.”
The merchant’s response gave Lin Nuo a glimmer of hope. If a demon had seen her, then there might be a chance to find her.
But why should he be the one looking for her? Couldn’t she look for him instead?
Right, let her come to him.
Lin Nuo brought some fireworks, intending to launch them. If Qin Shili saw them explode in the sky, she would realize he was there.
Then, if she wasn’t too thick-headed, she would definitely come looking for him.
However, there was a problem—she didn’t know his exact location, just that he had arrived.
If he flew with his sword, it would be too conspicuous, and who knows, the Handa Alliance might notice him.
Outnumbered, this was Handa Alliance territory; he couldn’t provoke them.
Better to hold off for now.
Boom!
Lin Nuo found a secluded spot and launched the fireworks into the sky. They exploded like blooming flowers above, just spectacular.
It might have looked even better at night.
Once done, if she saw it, she would know he was around.
Then he placed a wooden puppet where he originally was, representing his temporary absence so she would wait if she spotted it.
Then, with a gust of wind under his feet, he swiftly jumped onto the rooftops, dashing back and forth, scanning the city at high speed, hoping to find Qin Shili soon.
“No, this is not good! The Handa Alliance is coming to sweep through!”
At that moment, some demons in the city shouted, causing the other demons on the street to rush back into their homes in panic, as if the enemy had entered the city.
“Handa? They’re here?”
Lin Nuo tensed up; he needed to hide first and couldn’t provoke this alliance yet.
Soon, a massive army of the Handa Alliance stormed into the city, clad in hard armor, wielding sharp weapons, with groups of demon masters leading the charge, all well-trained and exuding military might.
Leading them was a Magic General draped in black armor, holding a massive Demon Sword, charging forward, radiating intense Demon Qi.
“This dude’s got some serious clout.”
Lin Nuo took a glance; this scene was enough to scare the commoners to death.
“The Handa Alliance requires the crafting of ancient magical items and needs all your materials, so please hand them over willingly, and we will not make things difficult for you.”
Using amplification techniques, the commanding Magic General’s voice echoed throughout the city, reaching every demon.
Because the Handa Alliance had already set up barriers in the city before, they could transmit their message directly.
The demons in the city were terrified of the Handa Alliance and offered up all the materials they had, hardly daring to resist.
The Handa Alliance soldiers began rummaging, collecting the materials surrendered by the demons. Those who didn’t comply would get beaten—injuries at best, death at worst, brutally savage.
Of course, even the non-residents would have to offer materials. Anyone attempting to flee would face dire consequences if caught.
Lin Nuo remained hidden and unnoticed; if exposed, they might demand materials from him, and with his personality, he wouldn’t give any.
Suddenly, a fierce cold wind rushed through the city, and a huge Ice Dragon roared towards the sky, fierce and intimidating.
“Uh?”
Lin Nuo recognized the situation; he was too familiar with this Ice Dragon.
But they were acting impulsively, attacking without knowing the opponent’s level.
Since a Giant Dragon had appeared, he couldn’t just sit there and do nothing.
“What is that? How dare you defy the orders of the Handa Alliance!”
The Magic General was furious, riding a pitch-black demon horse and rushing towards the Dragon with numerous soldiers, determined to take it down.
The Giant Dragon was exceptionally fierce, its breath freezing groups of Demon Soldiers.
However, outnumbered, the Magic General personally took action, braving the Dragon’s breath to attack, slashing his sword down on the Dragon.
The Giant Dragon roared in pain, trying to shake off the Magic General but failed; the Magic General’s strength was far superior to it.
“Uh?”
As the Magic General was about to strike again, a silver-haired girl rushed in to block his attack.
“Human? Perfect, I need a human as a sacrifice.”
The Magic General was ecstatic and turned to attack the girl, while the other demon masters assisted, but to everyone’s surprise, the backup demon masters all fell.
“What’s going on?”
The Magic General was alarmed as a Black Shadow rushed toward him, striking out suddenly.
